Now if Lowe, Wilde and/or Crouch were to put that sort of money into the Club, then I'd imagine we would look on them in a slightly more positive light.

What kind of dream world do you live in? If Lowe and Wilde put that kind of money in we'd have wailing, knashing of teeth and "we'll never get them out of our club now" type of comments. The bitterness and hatred runs too deep with a few of the idiots in our fanbase. Including you.

As a club, we would be better off having 5 fans going to games, cheering on the boys and supporting the team than 10,000 internet tossers like you and alwhine - *****ing, moaning, delighting in our problems and all backslapping yourselves when something us goes against us.

Were you bullied at school? And now you're taking it on on people in cyberspace? Get down to St Marys and support the team, stop posting your pathetic bile filled drivel on the internet.

Were you even in a regular school, or did they send you to that "special" school for the dumb kids?:smt048

Thanks though for giving me a good laugh at all those great posts of yours! Very entertaining.

I agree. Lets face it, he's talking about most of you lot on here who whine and moan like children about how this club has fallen like we have some god-given right to be further up the league (s) and out of this mess. Always looking for someone to blame; its boring. Most often you're blaming Rupert Lowe, but occasionally to change it up (presumably, because even you lot are bored of it), you'll find another scapegoat to get stuck into. I'm sick of it - this will be my last post on this site - good luck to you all and your negative, hate and blame filled existances.

Oh, and incase its not infered by my post, I agree with everything Mark Wotte said. GoodBye...

i agree to an extent..

wotte should obvioulsy be keeping quiet but SOME things he does say are not far from the truth

you only have to look at some moronic posts on this site to see that SOME saints fans simply do not have the best interests of the club at heart...

before anyone says it...this does not mean I think fans are at fault for this mess but it does also mean that one or two could have a look at themselves...

I think if pearson had said these very things the reponse would have been very different..

In fairness they are all pretty funny insults. Bedwetter really made me laugh to be honest.

Coming from someone who obviously thinks JohnnyFartPants is the height of comedy, I'm not surprised you find that funny...

Every post you write seems to be some way of trying to be controversial, it would appear to me that you get a kick out of it. Your screen name pretty much sums you up though... A joke.

Your the first person that I have ever put on my ignore list on any forum I am a member of, be proud.

How can anyone agree with what he has said. He has stereotyped all protesters without any understanding of; what is going on in the protests, why we're protesting and who is protesting. He has been here just over six months and thinks he has the right to judge us?! Give me a break, the blokes a farse. As one of the most infuential figures involved in the club he should be trying to get us on his side, not wind us up.

Exactly, some, some and one or two.

Hardly something to get all worked up about, as you will always a handful of people that you can point out with regards any opinion.

And hardly something the manager of our Club should be using to create division and rancour.

His comments were uncalled for, unnecessary and unwise.

Agreed , one home win all season in the league, lots of talk from the dressing room never backed up by the performances , sorry forgot the odd fluke away from home.

imo his statement was meant to shift blame from the team/directors to the fans

Wotte he said was unwise

But, a couple of questions for those that were there or are marching this week.

What was the percentage of "younger fans vs older fans" in the march

And is it not fair to say that what he refers to as "true fans" are the ones who still find the energy to actually turn up at SMS rather than those who stay away for motivation/finance/politics? (in HIS mind that is, not in the world of uber fans of course)

Just reading the article for the umpteenth time, he seems to have wrongly chosen his words when trying to rally the few left at the ground to get behind the team.

When in doubt STFU is the way to go.

As others have said including Wotte himself. He is currently a rubbish manager, talking will not change that, only results. As I believe we are stuck with him today, then I hope that he gets a result

i am 55 will be on the march again, then in the ground again, i hope we win today and stay up BUT MOST OF ALL

i want Lowe,Wilde, Askham, Withers, Windsor-Clive gone from the club for ever

I really hope we win today too and we stay up and he is hailed a hero. I dont want though him to ever relay that the teams performances is directly due to the fans, it quite simply just isn't.

Exactly. Two or three people on an internet messageboard hardly justifies those sort of comments does it?

Sure we are playing crap under him and these are hollow words if we dont get points, but its hardly 'nasty' or insulting... seriously, I am not sure why anyone should be offended by it to be honest...

I'll tell you why i'm offended Frank, because they had my money last March for this season. What did that buy me, cheaper games than buying on the day, nothing else. I supported the team last season and continued to support this season, and i will continue to turn up and support the players. What i don't want is some numpty to accuse me of wanting the team to fail just to justify the fact that before the match , i'm protesting.

The man should be concentrating on his job and put out a team to beat P.N.E, not worrying about what i'm doing before a match. T*sser.

The trouble is, any money paid last march was long gone and we are just bumbling along on the debt. Poortvliet got even worse treatment even though he was a nice guy, so Wotte laying it out as it is should hardly comes as a surprise. You don't even need to be here 2 seconds to work out that if Saints supporters are booing the players, it's not going to help the team one bit. Matt Le Tiss knows what is going on and realises our best way out of this mess is to get behind the team, others do not and want to boo irrespective. We all know there are those that want the current regime to fail, we have all seen it clearly stated on here, so why the ****** about Wotte when you clearly know it is true? We have so many thwats totally silent when we were spending our way into this mess, now suddenly finding their voice when the consequences of this financial disater hits home.

look at this place...

Indeed.

Manager has inflammatory quotes printed in the press and fans get ****ed off with it non shocker.

When the DuckHunter himself gets a 'lunatic fringe' or similar quote published - and it won't be long now before he does - I wonder if you'll join the baying mob?

Absolutely.

Nothing wrong with issuing a rallying cry, a call to arms etc, but he has been poorly advised or alternatively "he doesn't get it" with the other comments. He's beginning to make a habit of it, which IMHo is somewhat worrying.

But, a couple of questions for those that were there or are marching this week.

With regards the march, I would have to say there was a very broad cross section of supporters, across all ages and types (e.g. scarfers, old biddy's, lads, families etc). No one group had a real monopoly, atlhough the younger element were definitely more boisterous with regards leading the march and singing the songs!!!

But as for your second question, it really isn't worth bothering with. He shouldn't have said what he said, I can see no justification for it whatsoever and trying to disect it in order to give it any credibility is the wrong way to go about it IMHO.

In answer to the question about ratio of kids to adults. Not many kids other than a few youngsters with parents. Majority were full grown adults with several mature and seasoned supporters.

All wotte needs to do is call for support and not alienate the fans in the way he has some.

I have just read the full article and to me that is what he was doing, calling for support. Perhaps he could have phrased some bits better but it must be very frustrating when you are trying to fight war and elements of your own side seem to be against you and what you are trying to achieve.

The only people who are going to benefit are the other clubs around us who are also fighting to stay up.

Must have been awfully frustrating being a soldier in World War One when your generals were clueless, aloof ****s.

The difference was, you had to do your best or you'd die. The crux here is that of all the miriad factors that determine the result of a football match, how fans arrive at that match is so far down the list it is of no significance whatsoever. By all accounts the atmosphere against Swansea was one of the best of the season.

This is one of the reasons why Wotte is talking crap and is making himself look like a clueless, aloof ****.

You really are either a major wind up merchant, or a bl**dy fool. You claim to have read the whole thing, so explain.....what 'elements of your own side' are you refering to the 'true fans' the 'true believers' the 'kids'

“You can moan every day about Southampton Football Club and probably they are right because we’re not performing well enough – we’re 23rd in the league – but in difficult times you recognise a true fan and the true believers in this club."

His words Alledgedly

As I said on another thread, if you really think that a march is more likely to put three points on the board then great. Trouble is all it does is cause more pressure on the team/club and helps the others around us who will take heart at the fact that we are putting all our energy into pulling ourselves apart rather than saving our hides.

SOG.....you have claimed amongst other things, to have been a Civil servant.....I guess that was in PR.....because you never answer a question, you always spin your way around it.

(im getting this in early and fully expect us to throw it away in true SFC fashion) ;)

We would have been happy with him letting the football do the talking, but he didn't. He came out with all this sh*t about the fans.

JohnSmith, please don't try to twist my words around about my own kids, how warped are you... I called it "beautiful naivety", because it is indeed beautiful. It is naivety because we know that it's not true or based upon fact - that doesn't mean you shatter their dreams by telling them that (and please don't try to imply that's what I do, our house looks like Pixie Hollow FWIW), but equally you don't encourage them to open their bedroom window and jump out do you?

As for your ridiculous comparison with Theo Walcott wanting to be a footballer, that is not "beautiful naivety", it is a beautiful dream - because it is something which can become true, and therefore it is completely different and completely irrelevant.

That you now seek to attack me through my kids for failing to follow the mob mentality on here sums it up really, funny to see you follow Daren's lead in trying to paint me as a "bean-counter" or accountant, how funny! I do love the old "I'm a better fan than you" arguments the most... personally I think most people on here take this far too seriously and can't even take a joke or a bit of humour, but I'm sure that's a trait of bean-counters too rather than there being an excessive number of drama queens with internet access in the Southampton area.

Meanwhile back to the original point about the march, getting involved in organising a march is actually quite impressive in itself - I wouldn't have done anything like that at 16 - but that doesn't detract from the validity of the action or the reasons behind it does it?

Oh dear, oh dear Jonah. You brought your kids into it, not me. You used them as an example, not me. And if you want to differentiate between 'beautiful' naivety and plane old naivety, then that's your hang up, not mine. Being that ruffling her hair is because she is beautifully naive is therefore beautifully patronising.

And as for following Darrens 'lead', on calling you a bean counter, I've always called you a bean counter, but then that was just you being deflective, as was suggesting I was 'attacking' you though your kids (you brought them up, not me) just because you wouldn't follow the mob mentality (never suggested that you should 'follow' anyone or anything, that was you deflecting the argument away from your back tracking).

And whilst I'm on the back tracking part, careful Jonah, you're back tracking so fast, you'll hurt yourself as you back out of the forum altogether -

"getting involved in organising a march is actually quite impressive in itself"-

Wooooh boy, careful there, that was almost a compliment as you back tracked. You suggested he was too young and naive to do this that his experiences in life and understanding, (blah, blah, Jonah clap trap) and then you suggest that you wouldn't have been capable of doing this at the age of 16, like I said, maybe it's because your parents patronised you from a young age!

Let me back up, you accused me of attacking you through your kids, when YOU are the one that dished out the advice to Connors parents by suggesting that when he brought this march business up, they should have ruffled his hair and sent him on his way! Good for the goose and all that.

Lastly, the Theo Walcott thing. Well, it is quite plausible that he could go onto become an England International, BUT I think it is more plausible that this Connor could organise this march than ANYONE play for England. But equally so, BOTH were proved to be REAL by them actually happening! No hair ruffling required and neither had to wait until they passed your age test to achieve their goals.

Lastly, maybe, just maybe, the reason why someone so young had to drive this was because us older 'more worldly wise' people, have been pontificating, whining and blowing smoke out of our ars*es for too long and it takes this kind of black and white approach from the mind of a youngster, to push all us stale old fogies into action. And maybe, using your words, it was BECAUSE of his 'beautiful' naivety that this collection of like minded souls can congregate together in order to collectively vent their opinion in an organised and popular manner.

Bean counter for me relates to all that stuff which crushes and dashes things like imagination, dreams and inventiveness. Because, if we were to listen to the bean counters all the time, we wouldn't be able to achieve more than we do today, because the quantitative calculations don't support it. But that model does not allow for the probability of success only the certainty that success is not guaranteed. How about taking 'a gamble' on an outcome, and no I don;t mean at the bookies. I mean, taking a chance, taking a risk, GASP SHOCK HORROR! I hear you cry, as this type of talk is tantamount to treachery!

Jonah, I wish you well, and I am not directly 'attacking' your parenting skills. I do hope that you are less of a bean counter to her than you are on here, and that is probable, particularly when you described your house or room (sorry, can;t recall which, but the one you have done up for her). Kids need dreams because their reality is so different from ours, but you know that, but it IS still a reality, just not ours. And if you're like me, although not wishing to be 3 or 4 again, wish that the world was as, well, less complicated, as it was then. Too many worries and stresses for us to concern ourselves with now we are older, to be able to enjoy being naive and getting away with it. Be naive with her, it's fun! But like you say, lock the windows and doors and be safe in your naivety!

Posted

THAT is his job, not badmouthing the fans! My guess is that the "football doing the talking" won't last (would love to have that bit wrong though), and the badmouthing will though.
