Weston Super Saint Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 hats off to those that organised it for wanting change and hats off to the many of those involved that take there seat in SMS to cheer the team on no matter what. LOL. Hats off to the "young kids doing a protest march" that Wotte dismisses by "Wondering what's in their minds"
Thedelldays Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 LOL. Hats off to the "young kids doing a protest march" that Wotte dismisses by "Wondering what's in their minds" as do some fans...
Torres Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 (edited) 2 other things, Are you saying full vocal support will help this useless bunch then? It has more chance of encouraging the team to play better and try a little harder than a pre-match march that they won't even see or hear. 2 other things, And off course full houses made such a difference in the past didn't it? Seriously Daren - are you really going to try to argue that increased revenue does not equal a better chance of football success? I know you're not that daft! BTW - I think it might be worth looking back to the last time we had a full house at SMS in this league and the crowd really got behind the team. A couple of quotes from that day too: there was a full stadium and they gave us fantastic backing which means so much to all of us The fans were superb and drove us on Edited 20 February, 2009 by Torres Edited to satisfy a pedant.
Gingeletiss Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 (edited) 26 pages of infighting......Lowe must be p*ss*ng himself with laughter. To start with, the protests are to rid the club of Lowe, not the team. By all accounts, after the last protest, the support inside the ground was immense. Many said about protesting, only a few done something about it. For the record, the original instigater of the protest was a lot older than 16, but had to take astep back due to his job, and young Conner stepped up to the plate. There was many 'true fans/true believers' at the last protest, as I'm sure that will be the case this time. In a straw poll of 30 fans, when asked 'have things got better since Lowe came back'.........all 30 anwered NO. Edited 20 February, 2009 by Gingeletiss
St Landrew Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Saints fans are in a horrible losing situation. To have a 1st team coach turn on the fans, and suggest those who don't get behind the club 100% are not true fans or believers, is incredible. There are only a few relative constants in football, and clubs and fans are 2 of them, and even they change over time. Staff, players, directors come and go frequently, and only demonstrate loyalty when it is beneficial to them. Only fans will go on supporting when it would be better for them to go and do something more interesting instead. Wotte doesn't get it. Under no circumstances do the majority of Saints fans want his Chairman and Directors in place. They don't want this experiment to continue. I believe many of them would even take relegation and adminstration, if it guaranteed an end to the present Board having any ties with Southampton FC. That's how fanatical they are.
jonah Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Why should it matter how old the mouth is that the message comes from? It's not the age per se but the experience - life experience as well as education and knowledge. That's why we don't have 16 year olds running the country, or part-time union officials being elected during half term. Surely you react to a reasoned argument from someone with relevant life experiences whose opinion you can respect - a toddler could scribble "Gordon Brown Is Rubbish" on a piece of paper but I wouldn't march to Parliament behind him. I'm not saying you have to be a CEO to complain about a CEO, but I am saying that somebody who hasn't even left home, never had a job, was in nappies when the reverse takeover occured and can't have seen more than a few seasons of football is not in a position to draw any reasoned conclusions that result in organising a march in protest at the company, team manager and board members. It's ridiculous. Therefore it's just mob mentality, he's organising something he doesn't really understand, and others are following him into it because they like the message. But most importantly of all, there have to be better things to be doing when you're 16! Seriously. Come on, aren't there any girls you could meet up with instead of organising a demo about a PLC CEO?!
Sheff Saint Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 BTW - I think it might be worth looking back to the last time we had a full house at SMS and the crowd really got behind the team.: Think that ended with a thumping 3-0 defeat.
saintjay77 Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 So what do you make of the highlighted bits - assuming the Echo have reported his quote accurately.... Do you think he might be suggesting that those protesting are not true fans / true believers in the club. I'm not sure sometimes Also, can you please explain what makes one a 'true believer'? So the people doing the march wanting Lowe out no matter what, wanting administration because it will get Lowe out no matter what, wanting JP and Wotte gone because they are the spawn of Lowe despite the fact that they have as good a chance as anyone else to get us out of the mess are all obviously supportive? He said he is not sure if they are or not sometimes. So he is sat on the fence so he doesnt offend anyone IMO. (didnt do it very good and should have kept shtum IMO) He goes on to say that we have a right to moan as we have been crap and sit 23rd in the league. (Nail on head moment?) But at times like these clubs do find out who there real fans are. the ones that still turn up to do there bit and support the team rather than withdraw there support and march away to moan about the finacial mess we find ourselves in. I dont think there is anyone who thinks we are in a good situation and I would bet that 100% of fans want Rupes gone but right now the team could do with all the support it can get. so what has Wotte said that is so bad? Its the interpritation that has gone astray and had Wotte been brought here by someone other than Rupes I bet the reaction would have been completly different.
NickG Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Think that ended with a thumping 3-0 defeat. think the crowd were behind the winning team that day;)
Torres Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Think that ended with a thumping 3-0 defeat. Indeed. If it doesn't drive us to victory against the English, European and World Champions then it is really is a fallacy. Edited now, just for you.
Wopper Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 The fans will turn on him tomorrow especially if we go behind. Should have kept his mouth shut as he is expendable.

saintjay77 Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 LOL. Hats off to the "young kids doing a protest march" that Wotte dismisses by "Wondering what's in their minds" TBF I support the idea of the fans uniting to make a change or a difference. But it wouldnt change my view on supporting the team. And if it is a 16 year old kid that organised it then good on him for doing something rather than constantly moaning. need more kids in the world like that IMO.

Because Wotte's comments are IMPLYING that it isn't....
Tom28 Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Bye. Mr. Plant.. Do you really think that the Southampton board would waste their time planting people on this moronic website filled with 12-16 year old socially inept and moronic posters, so promote the work they are doing? Do you have a ****ing brain in your nut? I bet you go on some 'sky at night' forums too and start conspiracy theories there about how the US Government covered up the existance of aliens. And George Bush had explosives planted in the world trade centre buildings to collapse them. Alpine, is that your mum calling you in for dinner?

saintjay77 Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 And that's the issue at stake. Is it possible for the fans of the club to demonstrate / march / show their displeasure at the board running the club, AND still support the team at the appropriate time? Because Wotte's comments are IMPLYING that it isn't.... I think its possible to do both and Wotte is asking if those doing the march are being supportive or not? If the march is like you say it is and everyone gives 100% support to the team then he has his answer in that the march and protest IS supportive of the team. If the march is highjacked into a hate mob and turn round and march away withdrawing there support of the team then he has also got his answer in that NO they are not supportive of the team. So he is not Implying anything. He is asking a question. In some ways it could be looked at and suggested that he wants the protesters to gain strength and remain focused on what they want. A simple message from a massive march followed by 100% support IMO would be much more effective in pushing for a change at any level.
Frank's cousin Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 It's no surprise to see you making apologies for him Frank. I still remember you justifying the rediculous Poorvliet experiment at the start of the season (spot on there eh?). Surely even you can see that what he is saying is not going to help. ALL the people who march are true fans - if they didn't care about the club they wouldn't be there. Wotte should have said as much. Sorry strange post that.... Have never denied that I was hopeful that the JP thing could work, and that the plan had some merit, it has not, so I was wrong, it happens so dont get the point. Of course they are true fans - although there will be a fair few hangers on as these things do also attract the kids with nothing better to do. And if you bothered to read my post I aint apologising for him, he was wrong/stupid and illadvised - but I do believe that you lot crying about this is in this very OTT way quite pathetic really - its hardly an insult - but it sure does provide ammo to kick him with.
warsash saint Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Doesn't surprise me that you even patronise and snear at your own child and her 'naivety' Jonah. Bean counters are the worst amongst us for not having dreams and hopes and numbers and facts are all that counts. As for 16 year old school boys, with their heads in the clouds, let me remind you of Saints supporter. At the age of 16, a young Theo Walcott was banging them in at SMS. I was singing his praises and chanting his name. You obviously felt he was too young and just laughed at his young naivity and would have patted him on the head and told him to go run along and play with the schoolboys. AND, if he were a real dreamer, he may have said to his parents, at the tender age of 16, 'I'm going to play for England one day!' Thank God you weren;t his father, because he would've heard you laughing behind his back after he had supposedly gone to bed. And better still, maybe you would have slated him on a fans forum for TRYING and for having DREAMS and AMBITIONS! maybe you thought Wayne Rooney was a little schoolboy too, playing football in the big mans league. Maybe you laughed at Arsen Wenger for wanting a future England International in his team. Maybe you roll on the floor laughing because you have such a little aspiration for your young child(ren) and maybe that's a lack of belief your parents showed in you. Me? When my daughter says she's a fairy and can fly, I believe her, I call her my little fairy and my little Princess, because SHE IS! Just because the blind and patronising can;t see it, doesn't mean it isn't true. For crying out loud, you're a horrible, horrible man! Snearing at your own child, you make me puke! And for what it's worth, my daughter will be whatever she wants to be, and until she reach's an age where she realises that the world isn;t full of morons such as yourself and that life's a b*tch, I will let her go on believing. Because we can achieve what ever we want to if we put our minds to it, and there will always be the doubters, the snearers, and the patronising. Funny, I don;t remember you patting Rupert on the head and telling him to run along when he said we were looking to push for a play-off place this season and that he would turn the finances of this club around. What's that I hear you say? It's OK to be an adult and bullsh*t people if you don't actually believe it, but to have hopes and dreams that you can actually change at the tender age of 16 is just a fairytale! Well, I hope you don;t read your daughter bedtime stories, because they're probably the ones from the front page of the news about death, war, poverty and economic crisis. Can;t have her growing up one day and turning round to you at the age of 16 and suggesting she wants to achieve something important! Christ, what would you do, pat her on the head and tell her to run along like you suggested this kids parents should do. You pompous TW*T! Top repost :smt038

If those who are going to protest are then going to the ground to support then they don't have to worry about what he said -if they aren't -its fair comment.
surrey1saint Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Manager call for fans to get behind the team when they need their support most. Manager gets abused for it. This place is beyond belief. A sensible post at last!

EXACTLY so are ALL those supporting Wotte's comments saying i should not go to the game tomorrow because i intend to go on the march again, hope they go a bit slower because i am only 16 at heart , real age 55
JohnnyFartPants Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Top repost :smt038 It wasn't really was it? I needed a puke bucket at least twice.
Mole Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 When we've got Lowe out the door Wotte will be following him and good ridance. I don't think we've EVER had such a pompous unlikeable person as manager.

jonah Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 JohnSmith, please don't try to twist my words around about my own kids, how warped are you... I called it "beautiful naivety", because it is indeed beautiful. It is naivety because we know that it's not true or based upon fact - that doesn't mean you shatter their dreams by telling them that (and please don't try to imply that's what I do, our house looks like Pixie Hollow FWIW), but equally you don't encourage them to open their bedroom window and jump out do you? As for your ridiculous comparison with Theo Walcott wanting to be a footballer, that is not "beautiful naivety", it is a beautiful dream - because it is something which can become true, and therefore it is completely different and completely irrelevant. That you now seek to attack me through my kids for failing to follow the mob mentality on here sums it up really, funny to see you follow Daren's lead in trying to paint me as a "bean-counter" or accountant, how funny! I do love the old "I'm a better fan than you" arguments the most... personally I think most people on here take this far too seriously and can't even take a joke or a bit of humour, but I'm sure that's a trait of bean-counters too rather than there being an excessive number of drama queens with internet access in the Southampton area. Meanwhile back to the original point about the march, getting involved in organising a march is actually quite impressive in itself - I wouldn't have done anything like that at 16 - but that doesn't detract from the validity of the action or the reasons behind it does it?

That is my point. I would also wager that you were the most depressed and critical person of Lowe when he appointed the "proven failure" Strachan too. Do you get it yet? You are nothing but a constant moaning and very boring little dinlo. Everything you post has a negative vibe to it and an association to Lowe.

OK, based upon their history of management I would have to say Wotte is the new Pearson then. I'm thinking that's not going to be the right answer either though?
Torres Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Our biggest win this season was behind closed doors If only we could be awarded points for non-competitive friendly games then we could be safe now.

jonah Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Politicians tend to have lots of experience at being politicians. Sadly nowadays that's true - career politicians straight from Uni who have never done anything else in their life, that's why they're all so crap. At least in the past you elected an MP with life experience rather than a Masters from Oxford.
