SaintRobbie Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 2 points less, Pearson had 4 points from 1st 4 games. Wotte has 2. Pearson then won his next game so lets hope Wotte does the same. Pearson inherited a team mid-table. Wotte's is about to be bottom. Oh dear...
bungle Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Pearson inherited a team mid-table. Wotte's is about to be bottom. Oh dear... Even if that were true, it doesn't actually make any kind of point whatsoever.
SaintRobbie Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Even if that were true, it doesn't actually make any kind of point whatsoever. Of course it does. It says Pearson had more points but eventually kept us up by one point and Wotte is almost certainly doomed.
Weston Super Saint Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 It really does begger belief... sorry but its true.. if you read it' date=' you might not agree with it, but its nothing - yet we have grown men (?) crying on here that its so out of order, insulting etc..FFS ... you do begin to wonder if 'the lady doth protest to much' i n this case. We all know that the only thing that should matter is 3 points - well almost all as the Saint Billy post shows - "The only thing I am looking for is the day that Lowe and Wildes names are not associated with this club. Up and till that day I will rely on my memories of when this club was truly Southampton FC, when it was a united and proud club, when on its day it could beat the best, when I could look up at the directors box and respect the people in it. Until then, this club does not deserve our time, money or support. If it means that the only way this will happen is by relegation and admin then so be it. " That is what he is adressing aand I have to say on that point about 'wanting us to fail' he is right. Of course he is wrong to publically ahve a go in general and if folk want to protest its their right etc, but what is he menat to think when he sees things like the quote above? So full of holes!! You should probably work at getting your own point of view sorted
Give it to Ron Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 he has 1 whole point less than what god, I mean, pearson had after the same amount of games wotte a **** eh..? Slight difference that he has been here since pre-season and involved in the set up no matter what the apologists try to convince you otherwise - whereas Pearson came in from the cold. I am not one that treats Pearson as god but know he had the club realy well organised and running really well. I know a few coaches and were really impressed the way he handled the tricky situation he took over in given morale, player quality, fitness and the way things inmproved off the pitch. Ok we only won 3 but also only lost 3 as well.
OldNick Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 What a truly nasty little shiit you are.but Alpine you know it's true. I doubt any of the grown men would march behind a spotty kid other than at our quaint club. He is doing what he feels is right and so good luck to him, but it comes to something when the clubs finest have to rely on a 16year old lad.As i put on a different post, I recall when i was at school all the Wolfie Smiths who were going to change the world, now I see them driving in gas guzzlers and paying their staff the bare minimum.Lol
saintjay77 Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 2 points less, Pearson had 4 points from 1st 4 games. Wotte has 2. Pearson then won his next game so lets hope Wotte does the same. ??? Was Norwich his 1st game? That would make 2 draws in his 1st 4 games and Pearson had 1 win 1 draw right? I was thinking Wotte has had 3 games and only 1 draw which is the same as Pearsons record i think?
Daren W Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 2 things Daren. Are you trying to convince us that this march on Saturday will go some way to helping us get 3 points? And are you know going to argue that more income via gate receipts would not give us more money to spend on players and probably a better team? If so, that would be the kind of comedy gold that couldn't be made up. Except that you just would have done, obviously. 2 other things, Are you saying full vocal support will help this useless bunch then? And off course full houses made such a difference in the past didn't it? That money was so well utilised in the past wasn't it? Do we want to see more money paid off to executives who incompetance put us near administration the first place? I'm not getting into a slanging match with you Torres as you're one of the posters whose opinion I rate but this thread is rapidly descending into farce. At the end of the day Wotte's comments are ill timed and insensitive and totally the last thing you need right now in regards to unity. People are reacting and I feel they're justified to be ****ed off. It's not the end of the world but it's bloody annoying... This whole thread is made up of people ridiculing protestors saying protests won't make a blind bit of difference whilst saying that turning up at games, singing and shouting will save the day and everything in the garden will be rosy as long as we believe. Yes money through the gates helps, I'll be going and always will, but paying money and attending games hasn't helped us so far has it? Our support has fallen on deaf ears and our money has been wasted on payoffs for the numerous managers we've gone through and the numerous players we've bought for a million quid and then given away for nothing. And we wonder why supporters feel jaded? In the meantime one young lad tries something and we get *****s like Jonah writing off his efforts as he's young and inexperienced. If I want to know how stock and shares are doing I'll ask Jonah, if I want to know something about football I'll go elsewhere as he's just a fecking accountant with a football ticket. No doubt he was an unpopular kid who did most of his PE in school in his underwear and now ingratiates himself people talking about "the footie last night." Ask him about his football playing career; My money's on his career peaking with Sensible Soccer...
Weston Super Saint Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 but Alpine you know it's true. I doubt any of the grown men would march behind a spotty kid other than at our quaint club. Surely it only matters what that message is?
saintjay77 Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Pearson inherited a team mid-table. Wotte's is about to be bottom. Oh dear... So if Wotte manages somehow to get us safe then he would have done better than pearson? Im guessing a few people on here wont like that idea at all. lol
saint1977 Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Look at Charlton Robbie, they are falling just like us. However their situation can be 100% 'blamed' on their chairman and board and yet guess what? Their fans aren't marching and moaning and protesting, they are supporting the team. Their fans had no input in the appointing of Dowie or his sacking or who his successor was. Contrast this with us. There is not a shadow of doubt in my mind that we would have not been relegated if we had appointed Hoddle when WGS left. He may be no Mourinho but I see nothing on his cv to say that him managing the team for the complete season would have been worse than having two incompetent and one disinterested manager in a single season. And even then we had good enough players to mean we were outside of the relegation zone before the final game of the season kicked off! But no, the fact that he had left to manage the team he was a MLT like legend to, for many 'fans' meant we could not take him back so the genius ABH Campaign got us Sturrock and then Wigely and then Harry and then relegation. Good work boys. The lot down the road have the reputation of being far more 'hard core' than us but they swallowed their pride and took Redknapp back and look where that got them, a bloody FA Cup win! And why exactly are we on the verges of admin now? Because the widespread Anti-Lowe feeling amongst some 'fans' after relegation (how moronic does moaning about 'only' spending 90k on Fuller look now that we are bankrupt??) opened the door for the worst thing to ever happen to this club. Chancer Mike Wilde. A very average business man who jumped on the opportunity the fans created to ive him the opportunity of living out his childhood fantasy of 'playing football chairman'. 'Mike' is the reason we stand on the doors of administration. We may have not reached the playoffs if Lowe hadn't been ousted but we sure as hell wouldn't be staring down the barrel of both L1 and administration now!!! So like I said some of our fans are fast getting the club they deserve. I agree on Wilde but was that not a huge Charlton protest after losing 5-2 at home to Sheff Utd? I have a couple of friends who are Charlton fans and trust me, their board is seriously under scrutiny although Murray is held is somewhat higher regard as he has invested in the past (and I think still is) and owns a proper stake in the club. For the record, I was quite happy for Hoddle to return but it didn't happen because the board were as divided as the fans on the issue at the time. That said, Lowe didn't have to resort to Sturrock or Wigley but that's old ground I can't see any merit in raking over again.
St Landrew Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 I find that article quite staggering. Wotte has been here 5 minutes, and he has absolutely no idea of the culture of Saints fans, or the recent history that has made us so disenchanted with the club. He doesn't realise that season after season we have to put up with mediocrity, and don't even make a decent fist of performing in any league we're currently in. I suppose he would also suggest that people who stand up in AGM's and call on members of the Board to resign because they are killing the club, are not fans and believers. We are all fans and believers in Southampton Football Club. We just don't believe in this particular shower. Or isn't that allowed..? If he wants to turn away the remainder of the fans then he's just done the very best thing.
Thedelldays Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 If he wants to turn away the remainder of the fans then he's just done the very best thing. what has he done now EXACTLY...?
saint1977 Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Actually I am moving South to Salisbury very, very soon. Nice place.
Weston Super Saint Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 So if Wotte manages somehow to get us safe then he would have done better than pearson? Im guessing a few people on here wont like that idea at all. lol Yes he would be. Much more successful than Pearson. However, I fear his management of the fans and the press is a good indication of his overall management. So we're f&%ked
Weston Super Saint Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 what has he done now EXACTLY...? Do you mean apart from the bit where he said every 'fan' who protests against the board isn't a real 'fan'??
St Marco Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 how is that possible when he enever won and lost his first game..? Wotte's 1st game was against Norwich Norwich = draw Swansea = draw Sheff Utd = loss Bristol City = loss total = 2 points Pearson's first 4 games S****horpe = draw Ipswich = draw Wolves = draw Blackpool = draw total = 4 points
Gingeletiss Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Give it up for God's sake. The protest did/we do nothing. If this Connor lad doesn't like people saying that then he shouldn't have put himself in the firing line. Also, this attitude to "DO something" is not always a good one. Gaining publicity for a cause in a negative way does not make someone right. And you have the nerve to pull me about grammar........Seems to me, that you talk for the sake of talking, and most of that is sh*te.
St Marco Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 ??? Was Norwich his 1st game? That would make 2 draws in his 1st 4 games and Pearson had 1 win 1 draw right? I was thinking Wotte has had 3 games and only 1 draw which is the same as Pearsons record i think? See above

Pat from Poole Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 If Wotte had any kind of credible record in football, then he might get a bit more leeway to start being critical of the fans. Strachan did it once or twice, but we was able to get away with it because he was so good for us and we could see how committed he had got the team. Wotte is just a joke, and should be ashamed of himself. Try actually winning a game before giving it the attitude, you turd.
OldNick Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 so, you forgetting the defeat at plymouth..as I was there and we lost..?The Plymouth game was at SMS. The team was supposed to have been selected by G&D and so as we lost it is put down as their defeat, had we won of course.....
LGTL Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Kind of sums it up for me too Pat . Wotte can say what he likes once he actually has the credibility to do so. At the moment, it just makes him look more of a **** then he actually is.
Give it to Ron Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 The Plymouth game was at SMS. The team was supposed to have been selected by G&D and so as we lost it is put down as their defeat, had we won of course..... But Pearson stayed in the background and let them get on with it......well you are trying to say Wotte did the same even though since day 1 the OS has said he is part of the Dutch revolution.

How about giving him a little time before condemning him.His first game at home saw a march with his name on placards telling him to go.Very nice of us indeed.I suggest he would have little time for that group of fans and so knows he cant win them over. The rest he perhaps wishes to work with.
OldNick Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 But Pearson stayed in the background and let them get on with it......well you are trying to say Wotte did the same even though since day 1 the OS has said he is part of the Dutch revolution. He was part of the Dutch revolution but only was in the background as jan was in control.Wotte stood back and let him get on with it.Isnt that how it is supposed to work, the manager takes the decision but may listen to other advice. Wotte is now in control and so lives and dies by his decisions made.
saintjay77 Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Yes he would be. Much more successful than Pearson. However, I fear his management of the fans and the press is a good indication of his overall management. So we're f&%ked I think his comments are aimed at a few rather than the many but think he needs to be at least more carful in his choice of words. As or his managment of the team he has already tried to change things to what the majority of us lot think would be better. If our strikers could shoot then things may look allot better.

If Wotte could not see, given his long relationship with Lowe, the ill feeling towards this regime then he is either seriously deluded or living in a Lowe led bubble. Looks like Rupey Baby's been teaching him lots about PR... BTW, what has he delivered so far?? Interviews promising improvements....hmmm how many wins???? The bloke was a FOOL to take this job on - he is too closely associated to Lowe.
trousers Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 I assume Preston will pin this quote up on their dressing room wall tomorrow? Saturday's opponents sit fourth in the table, but having already beaten them once this season, Wotte is confident that his side can turn in a repeat performance. "They are in the top four which I respect Preston for but I have seen two of their games against Norwich and Reading and I cannot be impressed by their quality" http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=11390

Wotte is just a joke, and should be ashamed of himself. Try actually winning a game before giving it the attitude, you turd. I do agree but I think the club should be advising him better. I did like his comments on some of the younger players who I think he sees as having a poor attitude (and so do we at matches). The trouble is the language that he has used is very polarising although I doubt if this was his intention. However, the club's board obviously thought it appropriate though which says it all. Many of us will recall the season ticket waving at the Forest game which was sad to see as a Sants fan and this just hardens the attitude of both "sides". Sad that we've got sides when we all support SFC but judging by the continuing bile being posted in favour and against the current board, I cannot see that changing for some time.
Pat from Poole Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 How about giving him a little time before condemning him.His first game at home saw a march with his name on placards telling him to go.Very nice of us indeed.I suggest he would have little time for that group of fans and so knows he cant win them over. The rest he perhaps wishes to work with. A bit of empathy and humility would have made a lot of people a lot more sympathetic towards him. He's just made things a lot worse though, and the fans should not take the flak for the fact that he is out of his depth. He should not be given any more time to further prove this.

1976_Child Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 I just read this piece of crap by Wotte on the OS. I have always felt loyalty to the incumbent manager but this is too far. Did he even see the march? It wasn't just a few 'kids' (how ****ing patronising is that?). And the march was specifically not aimed at the squad or him/PV. It was aimed at Lowe. What sort of an arrogant idiot calls my loyalty to the club into question? Like many, I travel from miles away and follow the lads all over the land. I don't need a second rate bloke like Wotte to tell me not to march. What a farce this club is. LOWE OUT.
Thedelldays Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 How many times would you like me to answer? where did he say this..?
NickG Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 What is the relevance of young Connor's age? Well let me see. When my 4 year old tells me she's a fairy and can fly I laugh at her beautiful naivety, ruffle her hair and tell her to go wash her hands before she has her tea. When young Connor says he's going to hold a march in protest at someone called a "CEO" who runs something called a "PLC", I expect his mother to call him a scamp, ruffle his hair and tell him to go wash his hands thoroughly with soap before he comes down from his bedroom for tea. What I don't expect is for grown ups to start jumping out of windows because they believe my daughter and think they are fairies. Or to march behind a spotty teenager who thinks an Open Offer costs a bag of chips and 2 fish fingers. humerous little post!
saintjay77 Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Wotte's 1st game was against Norwich Norwich = draw Swansea = draw Sheff Utd = loss Bristol City = loss total = 2 points Pearson's first 4 games S****horpe = draw Ipswich = draw Wolves = draw Blackpool = draw total = 4 points His 1st game in charge was at home against plym. He might not have had much say in picking the team but he was indeed our manager and in the dug out so that puts him in charge IMO. Only 1 point difference but should we get a win tomorrow Wottes 1st 4 games will produce a better return than Pearsons 1st 4. And you can stop laughing at the thought we might win tomorrow.
Weston Super Saint Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 where did he say this..? Here : http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4140876.Wotte_calls_on_support_of__true__Saints_fans/ Did you not read it? It's what this entire thread has been about....
saintjay77 Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 But Pearson stayed in the background and let them get on with it......well you are trying to say Wotte did the same even though since day 1 the OS has said he is part of the Dutch revolution. No he didnt. I was there and sat about 40 foot behind him. He spent most of the game on the touchline barking orders at Mule and co. He might not have picked the team but he was in charge. it might not be fair to put the loss down to him but its not fair also to ignor it and right it off as someone elses fault. Lowe gets stick for doing the very same thing and we all agree its wrong.
Greenridge Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Why should it matter how old the mouth is that the message comes from? Surely it only matters what that message is? And of course you are 100% correct however there is an element on here that think by attempting to belittle the lads efforts they are automatically dismissing the protest. Whilst I have no intention of attending it was clear from speaking with those that attended the last march and from posts made on this thread that there is a broad spectrum of ages supporinting this march which appears to be very representative of the fan base.
NickG Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 How many times would you like me to answer? he doesn't say that. says we are underperforming, talks about difficult times and recognising true fans and needing support. hoping for positive support as it can help player give extra 1%. He does ask if the protest march is supportive, but says they (those that moan) are probably right as not performing well enough etc. Not quite what some are claiming him to have said!

That is actually even worse that the comments on the fans! Well Mr Wotte, if you're not impressed by Preston's quality, what about our quality as we all but prop up the league? This guy is a joke.
John Smith Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 What is the relevance of young Connor's age? Well let me see. When my 4 year old tells me she's a fairy and can fly I laugh at her beautiful naivety, ruffle her hair and tell her to go wash her hands before she has her tea. What I don't expect is for grown ups to start jumping out of windows because they believe my daughter and think they are fairies. Or to march behind a spotty teenager who thinks an Open Offer costs a bag of chips and 2 fish fingers. Doesn't surprise me that you even patronise and snear at your own child and her 'naivety' Jonah. Bean counters are the worst amongst us for not having dreams and hopes and numbers and facts are all that counts. As for 16 year old school boys, with their heads in the clouds, let me remind you of Saints supporter. At the age of 16, a young Theo Walcott was banging them in at SMS. I was singing his praises and chanting his name. You obviously felt he was too young and just laughed at his young naivity and would have patted him on the head and told him to go run along and play with the schoolboys. AND, if he were a real dreamer, he may have said to his parents, at the tender age of 16, 'I'm going to play for England one day!' Thank God you weren;t his father, because he would've heard you laughing behind his back after he had supposedly gone to bed. And better still, maybe you would have slated him on a fans forum for TRYING and for having DREAMS and AMBITIONS! maybe you thought Wayne Rooney was a little schoolboy too, playing football in the big mans league. Maybe you laughed at Arsen Wenger for wanting a future England International in his team. Maybe you roll on the floor laughing because you have such a little aspiration for your young child(ren) and maybe that's a lack of belief your parents showed in you. Me? When my daughter says she's a fairy and can fly, I believe her, I call her my little fairy and my little Princess, because SHE IS! Just because the blind and patronising can;t see it, doesn't mean it isn't true. For crying out loud, you're a horrible, horrible man! Snearing at your own child, you make me puke! And for what it's worth, my daughter will be whatever she wants to be, and until she reach's an age where she realises that the world isn;t full of morons such as yourself and that life's a b*tch, I will let her go on believing. Because we can achieve what ever we want to if we put our minds to it, and there will always be the doubters, the snearers, and the patronising. Funny, I don;t remember you patting Rupert on the head and telling him to run along when he said we were looking to push for a play-off place this season and that he would turn the finances of this club around. What's that I hear you say? It's OK to be an adult and bullsh*t people if you don't actually believe it, but to have hopes and dreams that you can actually change at the tender age of 16 is just a fairytale! Well, I hope you don;t read your daughter bedtime stories, because they're probably the ones from the front page of the news about death, war, poverty and economic crisis. Can;t have her growing up one day and turning round to you at the age of 16 and suggesting she wants to achieve something important! Christ, what would you do, pat her on the head and tell her to run along like you suggested this kids parents should do. You pompous TW*T!

What a pompous, arrogant, t0ss-pot of a post. There-there little boy, you know nothing and are not grown up enough to be of any importance and so shouldn't be involved in politics. Pompous r-s. Perhaps it is you who needs to grow up.
Weston Super Saint Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 he doesn't say that. says we are underperforming, talks about difficult times and recognising true fans and needing support. hoping for positive support as it can help player give extra 1%. He does ask if the protest march is supportive, but says they (those that moan) are probably right as not performing well enough etc. Not quite what some are claiming him to have said! There are further protests against the board planned before tomorrow’s match but Wotte says his team need the support of their fans now more than ever. He said: “I read some stories about some young kids doing a protest march and you just wonder what’s in their minds – are they really supportive or are they waiting for us to go down? “I’m not sure sometimes. “You can moan every day about Southampton Football Club and probably they are right because we’re not performing well enough – we’re 23rd in the league – but in difficult times you recognise a true fan and the true believers in this club." So what do you make of the highlighted bits - assuming the Echo have reported his quote accurately.... Do you think he might be suggesting that those protesting are not true fans / true believers in the club. I'm not sure sometimes Also, can you please explain what makes one a 'true believer'?
saintjay77 Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 How many times would you like me to answer? he didnt say that at all. If the protest and march was just about telling the board that we as fans are not happy with the status quo then the numbers in the march would be huge. If every member of the march got to SMS and walked in and took there seat to give full support to the team then His comments would be out of order. but the march has been highjacked like every thread on here into the usual talk of Boycott and LOWE OUT Campaign. hats off to those that organised it for wanting change and hats off to the many of those involved that take there seat in SMS to cheer the team on no matter what. but Wottes comments are aimed at those that have used the march and protest to drum up more people to boycott and join hate campaigns which as Wotte rightly says are wanting the club to fail. Actually he doesnt even say that. He asks if those are being supportive or do they want the club to fail? IMO everyone has jumped on a bandwagon of what they think he might have said and it possibly could be seen as a lowe luvvie comment so there for he is the spawn pf Lowe and there for should be publicly flogged until he renounces his lowe luvvie status and leaves soutwhampton never to be seen again!
