OldNick Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 The whole club is a joke! Wotte has been here 2 minutes and has the audacity to have a go at fans who have been supporting the Saints for years! I have had a season ticket since 1978 but will not be renewing whilst Lowe has anything to do with the club. Good luck to the 16 year old organising the protest march - poor lad has only known Saints under Lowe!! Wotte - please **** off back to Holland and take Lowe with you!To be fair yes Wotte has been here 2 minutes in real terms,, so was it fair to immediately have slogans and banners up against him on the first march? Would you expect him to show any inclination to hug you after that? The fans on the march are well meaning and true Saints fans the same as myself who is not on the march.Wotte maybe should be more diplomatic and have siad DW's words, he hasn't and so the fans who are on the march have taken offence.I doubt that will make any difference to Wotte's popularity as they were campaigning against him as well last time. I now know my weekend relaxation /enjoyment is likely to be spoilt tomorrow by all the RL nonsense.
SaintRobbie Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Look at Charlton Robbie, they are falling just like us. However their situation can be 100% 'blamed' on their chairman and board and yet guess what? Their fans aren't marching and moaning and protesting, they are supporting the team. Their fans had no input in the appointing of Dowie or his sacking or who his successor was. Contrast this with us. There is not a shadow of doubt in my mind that we would have not been relegated if we had appointed Hoddle when WGS left. He may be no Mourinho but I see nothing on his cv to say that him managing the team for the complete season would have been worse than having two incompetent and one disinterested manager in a single season. And even then we had good enough players to mean we were outside of the relegation zone before the final game of the season kicked off! But no, the fact that he had left to manage the team he was a MLT like legend to, for many 'fans' meant we could not take him back so the genius ABH Campaign got us Sturrock and then Wigely and then Harry and then relegation. Good work boys. The lot down the road have the reputation of being far more 'hard core' than us but they swallowed their pride and took Redknapp back and look where that got them, a bloody FA Cup win! And why exactly are we on the verges of admin now? Because the widespread Anti-Lowe feeling amongst some 'fans' after relegation (how moronic does moaning about 'only' spending 90k on Fuller look now that we are bankrupt??) opened the door for the worst thing to ever happen to this club. Chancer Mike Wilde. A very average business man who jumped on the opportunity the fans created to ive him the opportunity of living out his childhood fantasy of 'playing football chairman'. 'Mike' is the reason we stand on the doors of administration. We may have not reached the playoffs if Lowe hadn't been ousted but we sure as hell wouldn't be staring down the barrel of both L1 and administration now!!! So like I said some of our fans are fast getting the club they deserve. I understand what you are saying but disagree slightly (you're right over MW). The reason - REALITY OF LOWE'S APPOINTMENT. Lowe's appointment was never going to attract confidence from the fans. The reasons have all been played out and once more Lowe has failed. When you appoint a confirmed loser there will be no confidence. The difference with Charlton and us is that they do not have Lowe. Lowe = division of the club into fans who crave success and a plc who crave returns. There is a fundamental difference. It is Rupert Lowe. Charlton are not a laughing stock, Charlton have some hope of returning to the CCC next season. Saints are on their way to League 2. Sorry but this is realilty. Remove Lowe and the club gets the fans it deserves. Why? Optimism.

JohnnyFartPants Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 You live in the North? Please stay there. Actually, why don't you join Mike on Jersey? Actually I am moving South to Salisbury very, very soon.

Come on Nick stop trying to re-write history Wotte has been part of this joke since the start of the season not just 3 games.

So like I said some of our fans are fast getting the club they deserve.OB I share your sentiments (except not regretting the Hoddle thing) but there is a very large percentage of Saints who dont deserve the club you are envisaging. Of the marchers I would suggest 99% are doing it as they hurt at what is happening to the club (even though a lot would not understand the need for financial prudence or budgetting) the rest are attention seekers , whiners and not very bright.
um pahars Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Look at Charlton Robbie, But we're nothing like Charlton. They have Directors who have pumped in some decent wonga into their club. They have a progressive and inclusive vision about the relationship and the importance of their supporters. Their supporters, board and club have a very strong bond, built over a period of sustaining campaigning and protests just to keep their club alive, then to reclaim The Valley and then to rebuild The Valley. We might be about to be on that road of rebuilding our Club, so maybe the comparison might be true in 20 years time. The only thing in common with us is that they also found out that by going through 3 managers in a season is probably a sure fire way to get relegated.

Come on Nick stop trying to re-write history Wotte has been part of this joke since the start of the season not just 3 games. It is not me rewriting history. i can tell you Wotte stood back and let Jan do as he did. Jan was his own man and did it his way, Wotte has come in and changed things to do it his way.He hasnt long to get things right, but as i said before i know things have changed in the dressing room and that there is a will to suceed. i hope my renewed faith since Wottes appointment comes to pass, it better do or we will be L1 next season
SaintRobbie Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 The only thing in common with us is that they also found out that by going through 3 managers in a season is probably a sure fire way to get relegated. Pretty much agree with that, although ironically Saints find themselves with a slim chance of staying up with a 3rd manager in a season, currently Wotte is a cert to take us down.

Teddy Nutkins Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Well now that you have satisfied me that you are not after my anus for pleasurable reasons, I can at least relax. Sadly I live up north and my weekend is planned out already, but to recap, you haven't answered at all. At the third request, do you instill the same tunnel vision towards your job, 24/7 that you insist Wotte should to his? Do you allow yourself time off of your job to have opinions on other things, be they job related or otherwise? It really is as simple as that. If you can say that you are 24/7 the worker for your job then I will back you to the hilt (while thinking you are a bit of a bullsh1tter). Id prefer it that you didn't go any where near my hilt thank-you. To answer your question again, yes i do take time out to have opinions on other things, what i do not have opinions of is, things i know nothing about. Hence Wotte apparently is a coach who organises the day to day running of his football team, that should be 100% focus. Now i have been involved with the club for many years and feel a great passion for my city and my football club. What i don't want to read is the opinion of a football coach who has been in town for less than a year, telling me how i should support my club. It is good to see that your week-end up north is planned out, what team do you support? If you are ever in the area, give me shout.
jonah Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 What is the relevance of young Connor's age? Well let me see. When my 4 year old tells me she's a fairy and can fly I laugh at her beautiful naivety, ruffle her hair and tell her to go wash her hands before she has her tea. When young Connor says he's going to hold a march in protest at someone called a "CEO" who runs something called a "PLC", I expect his mother to call him a scamp, ruffle his hair and tell him to go wash his hands thoroughly with soap before he comes down from his bedroom for tea. What I don't expect is for grown ups to start jumping out of windows because they believe my daughter and think they are fairies. Or to march behind a spotty teenager who thinks an Open Offer costs a bag of chips and 2 fish fingers.
Give it to Ron Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 It is not me rewriting history. i can tell you Wotte stood back and let Jan do as he did. Why did we let JP stay in charge so long then? We all hope that Wotte succeeds only the usual plums on here like OB and Guided and the Stanleys on the other side pretend otherwise.
Give it to Ron Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 I'm not sure what's worse, the thought that a march is being organised by a 16 year-old living at home with his parents, barely past the age of legal responsibility, too young to even drive a car and with bugger all experience of life beyond going to school, let alone the first clue of what's involved in running a multi-million pound company.... or those people who are standing behind him and looking up to him in awe. And God only knows how he's finding the time to do his homework too. Well going by their performance in the last few years RL and Wilde certainly dont have much clue about running a multi-million pound company either!!
OldNick Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 So are you saying that there wasnt a will to succeed before then? Why did we let JP stay in charge so long then? We all hope that Wotte succeeds only the usual plums on here like OB and Guided and the Stanleys on the other side pretend otherwise.Im not saying there wasnt a will to suceed before but Wotte has added something to the dressing room.I have said this before a couple of games and of course it hasnt shown on the pitch.I can only relay what I have been told and whilst i was very bemused at Wottes initial appointmnet and said so on here, the reports I have from the camp have been very favourable and the original impression about Mr Chocolate have now changed as he has worked properly with him. A good indication is how the team fights for the manager. The last few games whilst fans have been dismissive i see that the tram have tried to go for the points and been caught out late 2 but the will has been there.
um pahars Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 They have the same reasons to want the change of chairman though.Due to not keeping their manager and then apponting badly, that is the crux of why the fans dislike or argue why we went down. I think the issue might also be the fact that Murray and others have dipped into their own pockets, have developed a real empathy with their supporters, is respected, has only made a couple of cck ups etc etc etc. Seriously, the bond between Charlton's board, it's supporters and the community is way, way different to ours and so is the reputation and legacy of those in charge. We may be in the same position, but how we both got here is massively different (the only common bond being 3 in a season and our current positions). With Lowe the number, repitition and magnitude of the cck ups is the problem (and there are many, many, many others as well on top of that, whereas Murray et al have got nowhere near his record of bumbling incompetency).
Channon's Sideburns Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 What is the relevance of young Connor's age? Well let me see. Or to march behind a spotty teenager who thinks an Open Offer costs a bag of chips and 2 fish fingers. Such a pompous response befits your continual support for all things Pro-Lowe. He would be so proud.
once_bitterne Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 But we're nothing like Charlton. No, your're right Steve we are as disimilar as two disimilar things.... in pod. They have Directors who have pumped in some decent wonga into their club. Charlton are a plc just like us who need to balance the books. Yes, their directors may have put in some of their own cash but nothing like the amount that could make a difference in today's football world. They are/were like is a club that relied on the tv revenue to stay afloat and when this was removed they freefalled, just like us. They have a progressive and inclusive vision about the relationship and the importance of their supporters. Sounds like a fans manifesto to me, Maybe we should get one of those....... Their supporters, board and club have a very strong bond, built over a period of sustaining campaigning and protests just to keep their club alive, then to reclaim The Valley and then to rebuild The Valley. True, they have far better fans than us. We might be about to be on that road of rebuilding our Club, so maybe the comparison might be true in 20 years time. The only thing in common with us is that they also found out that by going through 3 managers in a season is probably a sure fire way to get relegated. Well that and the fact that they have in common with usthat any established Prem team that gets relegated faces financial ruin. The difference being they don't have a devil incarnate figure to blame everything on
OldNick Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 I think the issue might also be the fact that Murray and others have dipped into their own pockets, have developed a real empathy with their supporters, is respected, has only made a couple of cck ups etc etc etc. Seriously, the bond between Charlton's board, it's supporters and the community is way, way different to ours and so is the reputation and legacy of those in charge. This was due I believe as there was a campaign from a politically motivated group of fans who made the reverse takeover an issue. Now i do not condone it but me and 99.9% of fans didn not understand the reverse takeover and would have been blissfully happy not to know. The rumours of Gavin Davies etc are a myth and so a vocal group of fans made the tenure difficult from the beginning. The cok ups have been just the same and their fanbase more supportive, whether they are right is another thing.Perjhaps again as you put they had been through the bad times and so accepted the bad more gracefully. We are like Johnnie rich boy who has had the safety of nannies all his life and now thrashing about like a spoilt child as she has gone because dady has gone bankrupt. We were spoilt into believing we were fireproof and a big club.As much as i hate to say it PFC123's post is probably the most realistic on here.
saintjay77 Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 I think you are perhaps being intentionally disengenious there. Is it relevant who organises the marches or is it more relevant the broad profile of those who actually attend? TBF I have already said he would be better off getting points on the board before he goes round mouthing off at everyone else. But my comment was purly to highlight (tongue in cheek) the fact that his words were not directed at everyone on the march buret at those who are percieved to be organising it. As Darren W pointed out this kid should actually get some credit for trying to do something but thats a different story. The idea of the march is supposed to be to let the board know we as fans are not happy with the current situation and we want something done. But jus like every thread on here it has been highjacked into a Lowe Out and anything else in campaign allong with boycotts and giving up season tickets. Wotte in a stupid way is basically saying the team/club have done crap but they are trying to do something about it. The team need the supporters to come back and support the team, not having a dig at the ones who bother to go into SMS but the ones who dont. The ones who wont come back until Lowe has gone are also the ones that are waiting for us to fail and get relegated and go into administration because thats how they think Lowe will be gone. IMO they should be putting there effort into getting rid of Rupes without letting the club burn down around us. now what has Wotte said that is so wrong?
Guided Missile Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 With Lowe the number, repitition and magnitude of the cck ups is the problem (and there are many, many, many others as well on top of that, whereas Murray et al have got nowhere near his record of bumbling incompetency). suspect everyone Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 I'm amazed at the way Wotte has been behaving. The man has been involved with the club for five minutes and yet he feels he has the authority and right to lecture the fans and tells us how awful we all are. Well I'm sorry but it’s not on, we have watched the steady and debilitating decline of our club for the past 4 years, culminating in our current position of 23rd in the Championship. The football served up is poor and spineless, we NEVER win, the board are disconnected and antagonising the majority of fans, we're tired of the evitable "battlecrys" from player A or manager B after every awful performance and all this overseen by a deeply unpopular and divisive Chairman in RL. We have a right to protest, we have right to show our disgust at how far our club has fallen and what we don't want is to be patronised by some slick haired, second rate, disillusioned manager in Wotte who has been in charge for barely a month. And as for your "this is WAR" article, you can shove all that mock-vitriol up your arse Wotte and sod off back to wherever RL brought you from. You're a bloody amateur.

But the bottom line - which we warned him about when he took over and praised Lowe/blames Crouch, then had a go at the fans last time was KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT AND GET ON WITH GETTING RESULTS - IF YOU DO THAT WE'LL SUPPORT YOU MR WOTTE. But he's either too vain or under orders from Lowe or both. Man's a fool... and whatever he's trying to do to get Saints up is unlikely to work. We're stuck with him now though I guess.
bowers-sfc Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 another coment on what i look like, quite funny and pathetic really. you insult a 16 year old? if i was older owuld i be gettin as much stick here? i doubt it.

jonah Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 It's just as easy to paint a negative picture of Richard Murray, the only difference is that Charlton have more balanced supporters. If they were Saints fans they would talk about Murray like this: * Bought into the club on the cheap * Was on the board when they returned to the Valley, but the council did all the hard work * Sought power so made sure he became chairman * Couldn't resist weilding the axe and changed manager straight away, but made the stupid mistake of appointing from within by appointing the coach - everyone knows that is a recipe for disaster * Despite gaining a fortuitous promotion from Curbishley's excellent management skills, he then oversaw the club's relegation as he failed to push us onto the next level by getting investment * Didn't apologise for relegation or accept his share of responsibility * Never offered to resign as he was more important than the club * Despite getting promoted again, failed to learn his lessons and got the club relegated AGAIN * Completely mis-handled Curbs who then left * Has public spats with Simon Jordan, a generally top bloke of course * Was so unprofessional that he poached Dowie from Palace, bringing further negative press on the club * Ends up in court, enjoying the spotlight no doubt, yes he was proved right but it's the negative PR on the club that is more important * After the Dowie disasater, went for Les Reed, the cheap option which was ANOTHER disaster * Then went for another cheap option in Pardew, another disaster, has this man learnt nothing? * Can't give his grubby paws off the football side, and stops just short of appointing himself Director Of Football by maknig himself the chairman of the football club board. * With us plummeting down the league what does he do? Does he appoint an experienced English manager? No, he appoints from within AGAIN. Parkinson FFS, what has he ever done? * Despite a terrible start as caretaker, he then gives Parkinson the job full-time. * FFS no wonder this club is in a mess, I'm starting a march after school, who's with me? And that sums up why we have *some* of the worst fans around.
aintforever Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 It's just as easy to paint a negative picture of Richard Murray, the only difference is that Charlton have more balanced supporters. Oh dear, I have read some crap on message boards before but that sweeping statement takes the ****! Are you not the **** who spent half a day arguing about a meeting you never even attended? LOL
SaintRobbie Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 (edited) We have a right to protest, we have right to show our disgust at how far our club has fallen and what we don't want is to be patronised by some slick haired, second rate, disillusioned manager in Wotte who has been in charge for barely a month. And as for your "this is WAR" article, you can shove all that mock-vitriol up your arse Wotte and sod off back to wherever RL brought you from. You're a bloody amateur. Clausewitz, arguably the greatest war philosopher and Prussian General, published a fantastic book called On War, which I advise Mr Wotte reads. He has at the core of his thesis a thing called the 'remarkable' trinity which is linked together - in balance - for a nation to fight a war. That Trinity is effectively: 1. The People. Who produce empathy and desire for war/success. Read here fans. 2. The genius of the military commander who fights the battles. Intangible at times but his genius produces success. Read here Wotte. 3. The policy makers/governent. Who set the political agenda and policy to send and successfully complete the war. Read here Lowe/Boardroom. To be successful as Clausewitz tells us all three have to be in balance, working together and holisitcally. He has been proven correct in every war ever fought. So, how is Wotte likely to do/doing in his war? 1. People. He has just attempted to disunite his people (fans) into 'real' fans and others, with yet another veiled attack on the people who support the war today in The Echo. errr I score him 0/10 on this key principle. 2. Military Genius. Jury is out but results thus far seem to indicate he can't win a battle. 2/10 (2 is for hope of a win tomorrow). 3. Political guidance. Rupert Lowe. Siding with him against the fanbase not good for unity. Following political guidance is key but the politician should let the military man get on with his area of expertise - providing political guidance only. Oh dear. 0/10. So, 'On War' Mr Wotte... a thoroughly good read to provide you with the basics. Carl von Clausewitz... even he says 'Saints are going down...and down again' Edited 20 February, 2009 by SaintRobbie spellink
londonsaint1604 Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 the only difference is that Charlton have more balanced supporters Charlton have crap support.
NickG Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 That has really angered me - desribing the marchers as young kids is very patronising and reminds me when Branfoot made a similar remark when referring to the car park protests. Wotte and Lowe are perfect bedfellows - both out of touch and arrogant. it does, but wonder if its a culture thing -like their talking about the team as boys
NickG Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 He really is a dislikeable chap..... http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4140876.Wotte_calls_on_support_of__true__Saints_fans/ full article isn't quite as bad as it goes onto just a plea for positivity in the ground
jonah Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Charlton have crap support. I agree, even sitting through that dreadful 5-0 defeat they were crap. But there is a difference between being crap supporters at a match and being a bit unbalanced and viewing everything their chairman does as an evil deed. Did you read the list above, it looks like something you'd see posted on here doesn't it... you can almost imagine them having an alpine_addick and Um Parker on their message boards.
bridge too far Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Well and truly in the mold of his master isn't he. W@NKER! Or maybe he's better in Dutch; KLOOTZAK! Surely someone can come up with a chant that includes this word? I'd love to see his face if he heard that word being sung at him

We all know that the only thing that should matter is 3 points - well almost all as the Saint Billy post shows - "The only thing I am looking for is the day that Lowe and Wildes names are not associated with this club. Up and till that day I will rely on my memories of when this club was truly Southampton FC, when it was a united and proud club, when on its day it could beat the best, when I could look up at the directors box and respect the people in it. Until then, this club does not deserve our time, money or support. If it means that the only way this will happen is by relegation and admin then so be it. " That is what he is adressing aand I have to say on that point about 'wanting us to fail' he is right. Of course he is wrong to publically ahve a go in general and if folk want to protest its their right etc, but what is he menat to think when he sees things like the quote above?
OldNick Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Surely someone can come up with a chant that includes this word? I'd love to see his face if he heard that word being sung at him I thought you'd be brighter than that.Somebody who wants the softer female side of the club to come out and then suggest getting the fns to sing a song calling the manager a w##### in Dutch. Lol
St Marco Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Get some wins and keep us up then you can say what you want Mr Wotte. Until then you have done zero for this club, you are not in a position to slag off the people who pay your wages. What i don't get is that this guy is going to make it a lot worse. Saying people are not "real fans" is stupid. What does he seriously expect that people accept paying the vast amounts of money they pay and be happy we are 2nd to bottom? If that was in any other job the person would be out on their ass. If i had a go at the people i do business work for i would probably get fired. I just hope all this warrior talk/fighting spirit pays off for the guy because if it doesn't he could go down as being the manager most hated since Branfoot. If we roll over and die tomorrow then he will be a dead man walking.
Gordon Mockles Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 2 words..."arrogant" and "c*nt". Just like those out of touch, clueless idiots Lowe and Wilde!
WealdSaint Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Any business that criticises its customers is in deep trouble...........IMHO
NickG Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 maybe read the echo rather than what Saint Robbie guesses he means?

saintjay77 Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Good comment. Thing is he had been written off before he started but I agree with the mouth shut and get on with results. If we had 9 points since he started IMO he could say what he liked and I would join him in slating the stay aways. We havnt though and IMO 90% of the stay aways are staying away because there is little chance of 3 points and its no fun watching us get relegated from the CCC. If it looked like we might survive the same would happen as last season and the gates would fill. So the comments from today would be pointed at the small % of fans that want the club to sink as long as RL is here. 0 points from 9 doesnt give him a good base to throw these coments out from though.

Correct. IF he was able to produce results I'd back him to the hilt. He hasnt, won't and can't ....IMHO.

It's no surprise to see you making apologies for him Frank. I still remember you justifying the rediculous Poorvliet experiment at the start of the season (spot on there eh?). Surely even you can see that what he is saying is not going to help. ALL the people who march are true fans - if they didn't care about the club they wouldn't be there. Wotte should have said as much.
Thedelldays Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Correct. IF he was able to produce results I'd back him to the hilt. He hasnt, won't and can't ....IMHO. he has 1 whole point less than what god, I mean, pearson had after the same amount of games wotte a **** eh..?
saintjay77 Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Correct. IF he was able to produce results I'd back him to the hilt. He hasnt, won't and can't ....IMHO. IMO I think he can do it. He certainly has enough time to do it and there are enough teams in free fall or in trouble to make it an interesting fight. No doubt we will find out by the last game of the season though.
St Marco Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 he has 1 whole point less than what god, I mean, pearson had after the same amount of games wotte a **** eh..? 2 points less, Pearson had 4 points from 1st 4 games. Wotte has 2. Pearson then won his next game so lets hope Wotte does the same.
alpine_saint Posted 20 February, 2009 Author Posted 20 February, 2009 What is the relevance of young Connor's age? What a truly nasty little shiit you are.

bungle Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 What a truly nasty little shiit you are. Pot, kettle etc
