Have to say that I was underimpressed by HDTV in a short demo. But this might be due to a few things.

1] My eyes are shot to f***, and I can't be bothered to wear glasses.

2] I'm actually quite satisfied by the present broadcast standard of TV.

3] I don't watch TV that often anyway, because if I do, I start to fidget, knowing full well I should be doing something constructive rather than slothing my life away on a sofa.

Hey, why not wait for 3DTV anyway. It's only just around the corner. Then you can leapfrog spending average amounts on HDTV and spend huge amounts more on 3DTV.

Not much point when you only have one working eye :(

One day we'll debate about the how good your eyes actually have to be to drive. This is an HDTV thread.

But thanks for the dig anyway. ;)

Christ I was being serious - how can you 'not be bothered to wear glasses'? surely you are putting the lives of other road users in danger with this ridiculous attitude?

Doesn't mean to say my eyes are not perfectly ok for driving though does it..? I mean, I need reading glasses, but I see perfectly well over 10ft away. Come on Jillyanne. Think before you leap to find fault.

I have HD TV cant really tell the difference either & I have good eyes.

Come on Shane, if you can't tell the difference between HD and SD you must be continually p*ssed or stoned when you watch...

I can tell the difference if im playing xbox then go downstairs straight away and watch SD, It seems all fuzzy, But if I watch football in my room then have 15 min walk to pub and watch on SD I cannot tell the difference. I can only tell if I go from HD to SD straight after.

Fair enough, watching in the pub is usually a completely different viewing experience anyway as you are usually much further away and it is harder to tell the difference.

If I'm watching sport at home I always switch to HD if it's available. I'm old enough to remember when 405 lines became 625 lines and B+W changed to colour. Once you change, it's difficult to go back.

Try watching standard def on a 52" plasma or on a 120" projection screen and you'll see just how good HDTV is

I simply cant watch SD programming anymore and subscribe to Dish Networks HD only package....65 HD channels for $30 a month....lubbly jubbly

Thankfully our local channels off the antenna also now transmit it in HD
