SimonRichards Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 I have heard from someone with the walls of StMarys, that Take That are to perform at the Stadium this summer. This is however is conditional.. SFC have to stump up half a million to host this concert . This means that saints will get 100% of gate receipts. Just working on the possibility that tickets will cost around £45 each, 30,000 watch the show. 30,000 x £45 = £1,350,000 - 500,00 outlay = £850,000
paulwantsapint Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 Would be beter going for Saints fan Will Champion he could us a favour and waive his fee to give SMS coldplay

Toomer Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 Not to put a downer on this, if Take that were to come to SMS this summer plans and advertising would have been announced ages ago.
Colinjb Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 Surely Dire Straights would be more appropriate.
sotonjoe Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 Surely Dire Straights would be more appropriate. The well known Dire Straits cover band?
Colinjb Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 The well known Dire Straits cover band? You got it, all the songs and at half the price. Everyone's a winner.
sotonjoe Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 You got it, all the songs and at half the price. Everyone's a winner. Sounds like a League 1 concert for a League 1 football club to me.
saint_stevo Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 All i do each night is pray, hoping that Take That come to SMS some day to play
Window Cleaner Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 We should get Simon and Garfunkel, Sound of Silence would be a fitting epitaph for us.
sadoldgit Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 Surely Take That are way too old to play at St Marys nowdays???
Toomer Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 Surely Take That are way too old to play at St Marys nowdays??? Boys Brigade band?
spyinthesky Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 Doubt if we could run to the Albion Band these days!!! For older posters do you remember the canvas target that used to get walked round the ground at Half Time? All coins thrown in went to help the band

For older posters do you remember the canvas target that used to get walked round the ground at Half Time? All coins thrown in went to help the band Could do with that now to help pay the bills!!!

benjii Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 I am organising a march to and away from the gig. Look out for F4seb0ok Group11!! soon.
Toomer Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 Take That out!!!! of the board room and put the other picture back up.
Appy Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 So if take that perform will this money be back for good?
stthrobber Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 Surely Take That are way too old to play at St Marys nowdays??? They are playing the Millennium Stadium this summer. Sold out in a pair of hours.....and unfortunately for me, wifey got 2
saintwarwick Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 They are playing the Millennium Stadium this summer. Sold out in a pair of hours.....and unfortunately for me, wifey got 2  They are also playing the Ricoh in June, took me 90 minutes to secure tickets for my wife and daughter for June 10th, they were pleased as punch.
sadoldgit Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 They are playing the Millennium Stadium this summer. Sold out in a pair of hours.....and unfortunately for me, wifey got 2  Sounds like grounds for divorce to me Rich!!! I did get dragged to a Michael Bolton concert by my partner but am trying to show her the error of my ways by taking her to see The Killers on Monday. Anyway, back to the thread. Surely to raise the cash to put the concert on we would have to sell a couple of players???
stthrobber Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 They are also playing the Ricoh in June, took me 90 minutes to secure tickets for my wife and daughter for June 10th, they were pleased as punch. Yeah but I'm a rocker by trade and it does my credibility no favours going to see them. List of bands in last year, Y&T, Journey, Rush, Joe Bonamassa, Heaven and Hell and now, er Take That!
sadoldgit Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 of the board room and put the other picture back up. Why wouldn't you want a picture of a train on the wall of a football club board room? Perhaps we could send Doncaster a picture of Take That by our trophy cabinet as a parting gift from the CCC?

sadoldgit Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 Blimey, you'd need a massive wide angle lens to get OUR trophy cabinet in. Yeah, it is probably more like a shoe box wedged under a chair somewhere

List of bands in last year, Y&T, Journey, Rush, Joe Bonamassa, Heaven and Hell and now, er Take That! Hope you enjoy it I'm just glad I have a wife and daughter who like the same music, it means I don't have to go with them
Golden Balls Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 I would have thought the offical site would be all over advertisment by now. I agree with 'paulwantsapint', we should get Coldplay to do it for a cut price due to the Southampton connection.

dubai_phil Posted 19 February, 2009 Posted 19 February, 2009 I applied for freebie tickets for the local Jazz festival. For a horrible moment I thought they had sent me tickets to see James Blunt... Luckily it was John Legend instead. Which got me thinking SMS should put on a James Blunt gig, and it should be compulsory for ALL board members, shareholders and "hangers on" to attend and they should be tied to their seats. It should be recorded and the movie replayed to them non stop for the next 5 days.... Failing that we should fly them all to Dubai for the Motorhead gig & sit them 2 feet from the speakers. Would serve the lot of them right... There - happy now - I managed to turn another innocuous thread into an anti-leadership rant :-)
MusicMan Posted 19 February, 2009 Posted 19 February, 2009 I was told that we are unlikely to get Take That as we are classed as a 2nd class venue and nothing about the Take That tour will be announced before the Robbie Williams situation is sorted out.
bpsaint Posted 19 February, 2009 Posted 19 February, 2009 We won't get Take That, and I'd say its pretty likely we won't have a concert this year. Considering its nearly March and the groundstaff have requested any concerts be held at the beginning of June you're looking at about 2 and a half months to organise the thing, which never happens with Stadium gigs. Besides if we do go into admin Saints probably won't even have the rights to lease the stadium anyway.
charliemiller Posted 19 February, 2009 Posted 19 February, 2009 wont be take that ......will be rod stewart

It would not matter what the pitch was like in League 1, it certainly would not improve the standard of football
trousers Posted 19 February, 2009 Posted 19 February, 2009 wont be take that ......will be rod stewart We are sailing, we are sailing, Home again cross the sea. We are sailing stormy waters, To be near you, to be free.
dubai_phil Posted 19 February, 2009 Posted 19 February, 2009 wont be take that ......will be rod stewart How apt, an ageing rocker on his last legs..... Shame - one legend still connected with the behind the scenes at the club will be so upset it won't be Cliff Richard
Big Bad Bob Posted 19 February, 2009 Posted 19 February, 2009 (edited) You got it, all the songs and at half the price. Everyone's a winner. That would be Hot Chocolate wouldn't it?? Edited 19 February, 2009 by Big Bad Bob

Frank's cousin Posted 19 February, 2009 Posted 19 February, 2009 Rush! Not cool I know but that Snakes and Arrows tour was just brilliant - did you see them on the R30? Must be blokes of a certain age....
Weston Saint Posted 19 February, 2009 Posted 19 February, 2009 wont be take that ......will be rod stewartHey that's an idea...can't he buy us!
Durleyfos Posted 19 February, 2009 Posted 19 February, 2009 Hey that's an idea...can't he buy us! I read somewhere Rod is a friend of WGS, if we can get Gordy to put in a good word about his time here...
paulwantsapint Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 I read somewhere Rod is a friend of WGS, if we can get Gordy to put in a good word about his time here... Even better if Rod The Mod could buy us & bring WGS back homeeven if it meant a new tartan away kit
Micky Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 I read somewhere Rod is a friend of WGS, if we can get Gordy to put in a good word about his time here... Didn't Rod let us train on his football pitch at his gaff not so long ago - he obviously has a soft spot for us, must have a few bob going spare - sounds like the perfect buyer to me...!!!
pilsburydoughboy Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 I heard that take that hate Rupert so the Albion band have stepped in and have also lined up the Police dogs to jump through burning hoops.
Micky Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 I heard that take that hate Rupert so the Albion band have stepped in and have also lined up the Police dogs to jump through burning hoops. Should be a sell out....!
stthrobber Posted 20 February, 2009 Posted 20 February, 2009 Not cool I know but that Snakes and Arrows tour was just brilliant - did you see them on the R30? Must be blokes of a certain age.... No I never saw Rush before FC. Was hoping for some decent rock chicks at the NEC but sadly for me, Rush is a geeks band
rallyboy Posted 17 March, 2009 Posted 17 March, 2009 Take That? We don't want over-the-hill prima donners going through the motions just for cash on our pitch.
