JohnnyFartPants Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 What is the common thoughts of this food? Is it to be considered as much a part of the full English breakfast as the fried egg or sausage, or is it a Northern imposter. I love it.
Deppo Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 Nice. White pudding is nicer. One would hope it isn't a northern thing.
Scudamore Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 I have very strong feelings on the subject of black pudding
bungle Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 I have very strong feelings on the subject of black pudding I think you should find an appropriate thread on which to explore those feelings.
Deppo Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 I meant to say that there is good and bad in both puddings.
Deppo Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 I suppose I'm going to lose my job at the BBC now.
Scudamore Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 I think you should find an appropriate thread on which to explore those feelings. You're right...this should be on the main bored really... I'm guessing white supremacist Stanley doesn't like black pudding...
JohnnyFartPants Posted 17 February, 2009 Author Posted 17 February, 2009 You're right...this should be on the main bored really... I'm guessing white supremacist Stanley doesn't like black pudding... I am thinking that given the non football related content whilst also recognising the seriousness of the subject, it would best be at home in The Lounge?
Scudamore Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 I am thinking that given the non football related content whilst also recognising the seriousness of the subject, it would best be at home in The Lounge? Photography - how best to take a photo of black pudding
JohnnyFartPants Posted 17 February, 2009 Author Posted 17 February, 2009 Photography - how best to take a photo of black pudding Is this a consideration for thread title?
swannymere Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 I would like to announce that i think what many consider to be the best black pudding - the Bury Black pudding is in fact overrated and not as good as has been suggested.
JohnnyFartPants Posted 17 February, 2009 Author Posted 17 February, 2009 i would like to announce that i think what many consider to be the best black pudding - the bury black pudding is in fact overrated and not as good as has been suggested. fact?
Dog Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 I love black pudding, in fact I peel the skin back and eat it raw like a banana.
JohnnyFartPants Posted 17 February, 2009 Author Posted 17 February, 2009 I love black pudding, in fact I peel the skin back and eat it raw like a banana. The use of "in fact" here, suggests that you believe peeling skin back and putting the object in your mouth is how you love something.
Dog Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 The use of "in fact" here, suggests that you believe peeling skin back and putting the object in your mouth is how you love something. Black pudding & bananas yes.
Jillyanne Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 Black pudding is absolutely horrible, as horrible as haggis. Faggotts are nice though.
INFLUENCED.COM Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 Faggotts are nice though. As are most straight people, what is your point ?
Iowsaintsfan Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 Black pudding is absolutely horrible, as horrible as haggis. Faggotts are nice though. Agree with you JIll
Scudamore Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 Black pudding is absolutely horrible, as horrible as haggis. Faggotts are nice though. What the hell is wrong with haggis?
Jillyanne Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 What the hell is wrong with haggis? It is horrible.
ozzmeister Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 I have never been a fan to be honest, just the idea of cooked blood just wierds me out a bit - completly irrational as i like all other animals etc but just cant bring myself to likinjg black pudding......YUK!
fish fingers Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 I find it can be a little dry unless eaten with some moisture such as bean juice or the yolk of a fried egg. White pudding is nicer.
Scudamore Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 It is a fact that the fried egg is the maker or breaker of any fried breakfast however Bad fried egg = bad fry up as far as i'm concerned
JohnnyFartPants Posted 17 February, 2009 Author Posted 17 February, 2009 It is a fact that the fried egg is the maker or breaker of any fried breakfast however Bad fried egg = bad fry up as far as i'm concerned A clean egg goes a long way to selling the whole breakfast to me. No black burnt bits or dirty oil marks at all. The yolk unbroken and yet still runny inside like a yellowy orange slightly congealed womans period.
Dog Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 What tastes better, black pudding, a blue steak or eating out a bird on the rag?
hamster Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 What the hell is wrong with haggis? It is Scotch.

Junction 9 Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 I have never heard of white pudding till now and am keen to try it.
Ponty Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 It's nice J9, if you like black pudding that is. TBH they all taste like sausages.
Scudamore Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 It's nice J9, if you like black pudding that is. TBH they all taste like sausages. Quite...so why people get a bee in their bonnet over the whole blood thing really is beyond me... Black pudding is better than sausage mind...
badgerx16 Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 The only good reason to visit Bury is to go to the market and buy a hot black pudding for lunch, to be eaten with picalilli or mustard
Ponty Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 Quite...so why people get a bee in their bonnet over the whole blood thing really is beyond me... Black pudding is better than sausage mind... Well, for a start, you never get gristle in black pudding.
Scudamore Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 Well, for a start, you never get gristle in black pudding. I just love the texture Ponty...LOVE it... Bit like i love the texture of an avocado... Obviously two completely different textures but oh so sweet in their own ways... A pear on the other hand...well i don't care for the texture of a pear too much at all... I feel now would be a good murment (as Mark Lawrenson would say) to point out that you can get Scotch eggs wrapped in black pudding filling instead of the sausage meat...just imagine it...
Badger Posted 17 February, 2009 Posted 17 February, 2009 The only good reason to visit Bury is to go to the market and buy a hot black pudding for lunch, to be eaten with picalilli or mustard Picallili. An often forgotten and shamefully overlooked accompaniment to a dish, especially salad(s) or Ploughmans lunch etc.

Scudamore Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 Black Watch - This now infamous recipe has more fans than just about any other, rich creamy black pudding with just a little free-range SADDLEBACK pork creating not only a sensational flavour but also when cut open a stunning look. http://www.handmadescotcheggs.co.uk/shop/index.php?cat=2 There scotch eggs are truly something else...they can be successfully stalked at farmers markets... You will also note they do a scotch egg with white pudding...and another one with a pickled egg in the centre... Will wonders never cease?
Scudamore Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 I am considering an egg purchase. Deliveries are pretty expensive...you live out west country way don't you? http://www.handmadescotcheggs.co.uk/events.php That's where they can be found most weekends...that way you get to scare the woman on the stall with your enthusiasm for her product...

Scudamore Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 Is that a photo of Demot Murnaghan behind his left shoulder there?
bungle Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 Is that a photo of Demot Murnaghan behind his left shoulder there? I think you mean his right shoulder, although it is of course left as we look.
Scudamore Posted 18 February, 2009 Posted 18 February, 2009 I think you mean his right shoulder, although it is of course left as we look. He's looking in a mirror.
