NO such thing as luck - just our perception which is biassed.

Eg when we win, we tend to forget about the missed chanced, poor ref decions missed penalties or hitting the post, unless its to indicate how LUVKY the opositio wre for it not to be more, but our 'fortune' is considered more to be about our supierior skill.

When yyou lose regularly, we clutch at whatever [positive straws we can... eg the fact we focus on the nmissed chances, dodgy decions and woodwork, conveniently forgetting the dodgy decisions that went for us, the missed chances of the opposition etc ... and put this down to bad luck...

Because we had 'the luck of the draw', something that you cannot influence by tactics or training.

still had to beat them...not as if we have a proud history of NOT going out to clubs in the next league down is it..:smt082

But had we been drawn away to any of a long list of clubs that we could name I doubt that we would have reached the final. When Watford came out of the 'bag' I couldn't believe our 'luck'.

indeed...why did we not lose to watford then..?

or millwall away in the reply when we almost lose at home..?

so, we only beat norwich, wolves and spurs at home...

damn we were lucky

When we might have had Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea away, although I very much doubt that we would have got through to play all three of those. To argue that our 'fortunate draw' played no part in our reaching the final is blinkered in the extreme.

of course it played a part...luck plays apart in every season..?

do you not think derby were lucky that best scored such an own goal..?

do you not think we were lucky that preston imploded at the end of that season..?

do you not think man utd were lucjy newcastle imploded all those years ago..?

you still have to win your games..some of which we have had a good record of losing over the years..

oh, and wasnt it lucky we scored an iffy offside goal in 76..?

There was nothing 'iffy' in '76,. unless you're a Man U supporter, that is ;) It was a brilliantly timed run and a well-placed shot inside the far post. Luck had absolutely nothing to do with it. And what was unlucky about Pele tugging a shirt in the penalty area?

Stepney went down a bit late though. At first I thought Stokeser had scuffed his shot a bit,and then I thought "he ain't gonna get that" then the place erupted.

I felt like this:

That's odd, I wasn't expecting that. Still think we'll lose tho.

not sure if its luck, but I've lost count of the amount of games where we have taken the lead but not gone on to win. Ok so we came back against Preston, Norwich and Swansea to salvage something, but we were ahead against Swansea home, Sheff Wed home, Reading home, Coventry home, Birmingham home & Ipswich home and failed to win.

Not just this season either.

Its all in the mindset. Our players are probaly sick to death of the ******s that run the club and so are feeling very negative. How would you feel if the chairman of the club you played for was the laughing stock of football.

I wouldn't be remotely bothered as long as he was still paying my wages to do the best I can, naive though that sounds.

Footballers in actually giving a cr*p about the team they play for shocker!

I'm pretty sure they don't care who is running the club as long as they get paid each week.

The only thing that's having a negative affect on them, is losing every week, and they are the ones that can do something about that, by putting in maximum effort for an entire 95 mins, not switching off at various points and pressing the opposition when they have possesion instead of allowing them to waltz through with the ball.

They don't need to be nursed or 'understood', they need a kick up the backside!
