JohnnyFartPants Posted 16 February, 2009 Posted 16 February, 2009 I was basing my opinion on the two lads who ran onto the pitch when we played Donny. They got roundly cheered from the Northam. I was basing my opinion on my beliefs. ergo, my opinion. To be fair though, if a section of fans is going to support this, then you would put your money on it being the Northam.
Toomer Posted 16 February, 2009 Posted 16 February, 2009 If we go two down it could get interesting, but this is Saints we are talking about they might just put on a performance of a life time and turn PNE over, sh!t is that the alarm going off.
Ken Tone Posted 16 February, 2009 Posted 16 February, 2009 If there is a pitch invasion (during the game) do you think those involved would be cheered or jeered? Jeered by those that realise that a pitch invasion will bring the FA down on us like a ton of bricks .... a big fine and possibly a points deduction and/or a ground closure. I do sometines wonder just how many of the posters on here are actually adults. K.

I do sometimes how many of the posters on here actually have a brain. Saints won't get a big fine, they won't get a points deduction and they 100% definately won't get a ground closure. Get real, seriously.
slickmick Posted 16 February, 2009 Posted 16 February, 2009 Look out for Jon Parkin up front for Preston, the human wardrobe. The fattest footballer since Jan Molby. Weve got half a dozen that fast.

Playing the next game behind closed doors is a fairly common punishment for FIFA in eurpoean gsames with bad fan behaviour, for example. Finding the exampoles above took me about 2 mins on google. I'm sure there are more. Were none of you around the 60's and 70's? .. before CCTVand the change in the law made crowd trouble so much less common than it is now. K.
StuRomseySaint Posted 16 February, 2009 Posted 16 February, 2009 Ken, the links that you have provided show.... A story about Celtic in a CL match, no reports of any massive fine, European game as well. A story about Leeds pitch invasion ( in the end they didn't even get a fine ) A story about an Israeli team in a domestic cup final. A all-time league table in which none of the 84 teams have had points deducted for fans behaviour. I am not sure what point you are trying to make but the FACTS are that no team in the last 20 years have played matches behind closed doors or points deducted as a result of pitch invasions.

This is probably getting boring for everyone else Stu, but see particulally Brighton who *did* have a points deduction, The all time league table reference above showed Brighton having a 2 points deduction for crowd misbehaviour. viz 11= Brighton had two points deducted during the 1996-97 season for crowd pitch invasion and in addition, a random selection of other penalties for you:- Turkey must play all their Euro 2008 home qualifying ties behind closed doors, and in a neutral country, after Fifa handed out the most severe punishments ever to a European country. La Repubblica - Italy | Monday, February 12, 2007 Football matches behind closed doors in Italy "One strange Sunday", is how the journalist and writer Emanuela Audisio sums up Sunday, February 11th, when football matches took place without spectators in all of the country's stadiums. Club sanction European football's governing body say they are awaiting the match referee's report before deciding whether to hand Celtic another fine over the incident. Uefa had previously warned the Glasgow club about the behaviour of their supporters, after a fan confronted AC Milan's goalkeeper, Dida, during a Champions League tie last season. As a result of that, Celtic were ordered to pay a fine of £25,000, half of which was suspended for two years. Airdrie face fine for fan invasion - TelegraphAIRDRIE will be hit by a massive fine after a pitch invasion by their fans at Somerset Park caused Saturday's game against Ayr United to be abandoned. Fulham launch pitch invasion probe | Premier League | Give Me FootballYou are here: Home > Premier League > Fulham launch pitch invasion probe ... are examining the scenes with Fulham likely to be punished with a large fine. ... Cup success marred by FA Barnsley's FA Cup celebrations could be marred by the Football Association's decision to investigate the pitch invasion either side of the final whistle in The Reds historic 1-0 victory over Chelsea. Fans rushed on the pitch before the final whistle after thinking referee Steve Bennett had blown for full time when in fact he had blown for an offside against captain Brian Howard. Then seconds later when he did blow for full time joyous fans ran onto the pitch to celebrate with their heroes. The party pooping FA are likely to investigate though and could fine Barnsley for "poor stewarding" They are waiting Bennett's report before taking any action Sorry to be so slow with these. Had some work to do ;-) K.
um pahars Posted 16 February, 2009 Posted 16 February, 2009 Jeered by those that realise that a pitch invasion will bring the FA down on us like a ton of bricks .... a big fine and possibly a points deduction and/or a ground closure. Methinks you are being somewhat melodramatic here. There have been a number of pitch invasions after the final whistle that have incurred no sanctions (including our own against Sheff Utd last season) and there have also been a number during games, both in celebration and protest, where the FA have not come down "like a ton of bricks". Indeed, the Leeds pitch invasion in May 2007, which held up play for 30 minutes and included attacks on away fans, brought no action whatsoever from the FA. All the sanctions you mention are available to the FA, but recent history has shown that they do not impose them harshly, nor come down "like a ton of bricks" on the clubs, instead, they very often support the clubs involved, and in the case of Leeds they agreed that the club had done evrything reasonable and could not be held accountable for the invasion.
Toomer Posted 16 February, 2009 Posted 16 February, 2009 Best pitch invasion Highbury in 84 but thats another storey.
eelpie Posted 16 February, 2009 Posted 16 February, 2009 what is the spirit of southampton...seriously, what does that mean..what example of this are there that are unique to this club and not replicated at every other ground after a good spell/win..? Similar as at other clubs when times are tough, true. So what?
Saint_clark Posted 16 February, 2009 Posted 16 February, 2009 If we end up bottom on saturday, I am all for going on the pitch at the end. I am in the Kingsland North, and the stewards don't seem to pay much attention to us, so we can spread their lines thin if a load of people run down to the front.
StuRomseySaint Posted 16 February, 2009 Posted 16 February, 2009 Ken, apart from a nominal fine of £12,500 for Celtic, you still have not shown how the FA and UEFA will come down on clubs like a ton of bricks. You are going well over the top, as long as the club have all the relevent measures to stop things like this happening, they won't be held accountable. Out of the hundreds of pitch invasions in the last 15 years, you have found ONE example of a points deduction. Also, the ONE example you have found was actually a 'suspended sentence' which was triggered. So even then, they invaded the pitch once, were told by the FA that they will take no action now, but if they do it again, they will lose 2 points, which is fair enough. So there is still NO examples of teams losing points as a result of pitch invasions etc.
brightspark Posted 16 February, 2009 Posted 16 February, 2009 1) There needs to be some more violent scenes. Pitch invasion would be great - this will have the media swarming and it will put Lowe back in the headlines. The media covering our story will be the way to pile the pressure on Lowe and his cronies. The threats of protests will grow so much that even the police could be glad to see them go... we need the media to help us and something unordinary - like a pitch invasion - will get us that 2) I think my opinion stands in between Ken and Stu. We won't get a ground closure, or a points deduction. We'll probably get a petty fine, which Wotte will come out and say "the fans are the worst thing that happened to this club..." The fine is mini. It is WELL worth flooding the pitch with angry fans.
