um pahars Posted 14 February, 2009 Posted 14 February, 2009 14 games left : Did you realise that in the last 14 league games we have won ONCE and gained NINE points. The actual stats are : P---W---D---L---F---A---GD---Pts 14...1.....6....7...11...22...-11.....9 :rolleyes::rolleyes:
exit2 Posted 14 February, 2009 Posted 14 February, 2009 very worrying, just looked at the next 5 games mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm not good!
Micky Posted 14 February, 2009 Posted 14 February, 2009 Scary stats - but it matters not - I am resigned to the drop, which on the face of it is pretty crap really when there are still 42 points available. But we are so bad this season - I just cannot see us turning it around.
um pahars Posted 14 February, 2009 Author Posted 14 February, 2009 very worrying, just looked at the next 5 games mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm not good! I f we carried on in that vein, then Barnsley and Norwich would only need to get 5 points between now and the end of the season!!!!!!!!
Big Ron fan Posted 14 February, 2009 Posted 14 February, 2009 (edited) I think you'll find that those games don't include many against the current top 6 or 8. Edited 16 February, 2009 by Big Ron fan

badgerx16 Posted 15 February, 2009 Posted 15 February, 2009 Just done a bit of digging, comparing our current position with our two greatest Premier League 'escapes'. At the same point in the calendar in 1996/97 we were in 19th place, played 23 and 20 points. We were 3 points behind safety, but with a better goal difference and 2 games in hand. we finished 1 point and 2 places above the drop zone, played 38, points 41. In 1998/99 we were also in 19th place, played 24 with 20 points, 4 points from safety and 11 worse off on goal difference. We finished 5 points clear, played 38, points 41. Why do I, and so many others, simply not have any faith in the current squad emulating these outcomes ?
Weston Saint Posted 15 February, 2009 Posted 15 February, 2009 Let's put a bit of Wotte spin on it. We have only lost half of our last 14 matches But joking aside we look to be stuffed.

I was convinced we were relegated under Jones and it was a spectacular run of home performances that turned it round (Wotte and Lowe please note). Under Souness, at least we could score goals and we had some pretty good options going forward - Eyal, Egil, Dia - so we were always in with a shout. I had little hope with Jones, and some with Souey. But Home Form under Jones and Goals under Souey saved us. But this lot? We are so relegated it's untrue and even a proper manager appointed tomorrow wouldn't save us. We've lost far too many homes games and games againts our basement peers to have any chance now. We're down. Edited 15 February, 2009 by CB Fry
chocco boxo Posted 15 February, 2009 Posted 15 February, 2009 sad facts from a team of sad acts. RIP SFC.
DT Posted 15 February, 2009 Posted 15 February, 2009 The worst thing about the prospect of going down is that I can't see us getting up again.
scotty Posted 15 February, 2009 Posted 15 February, 2009 The worst thing about the prospect of going down is that I can't see us getting up again. Nonsense, Leeds havent had any problems.

We're down. Have to agree. I have never been so pessimistic about our chances of staying up.(and 14 games to go yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) The bitter divisions all over the place just make a miracle recovery less and less likely.
Whitey Grandad Posted 15 February, 2009 Posted 15 February, 2009 Nonsense, Leeds havent had any problems. Ah, but they had a big points deduction! ...oh
L1Minus10 Posted 16 February, 2009 Posted 16 February, 2009 ... and in the last 14 games we need to have a record something like... P14 W6, D4, L4 to even have a prayer. Face it, we're ****ed...
JohnnyFartPants Posted 16 February, 2009 Posted 16 February, 2009 ... and in the last 14 games we need to have a record something like... P14 W6, D4, L4 to even have a prayer. Face it, we're ****ed... Why do we need a record anything like that to stay up? We need a record 4 points better than two teams above us. It's as simple as that. That means that in theory just 5 draws and the rest all lost could be enough, depending on other teams results. I am not saying that will be enough but to say we need to win 6 and draw 4 out of 14 games to go ahead of other teams that have also been struggling all season is just not accurate.
Andy_Porter Posted 16 February, 2009 Posted 16 February, 2009 One lucky win since Reading, we really are crap. I still don't understand how things have changed so much since the first 10 games of the season, we actually looked decent for a while.

Probably because the confidence has gone from the squad and recently the defence are leaking to goals a game.
Andy_Porter Posted 16 February, 2009 Posted 16 February, 2009 Probably because the confidence has gone from the squad and recently the defence are leaking to goals a game. Yep no confidence at all. Shame Svensson had to get injured and Cork left.

JohnnyFartPants Posted 16 February, 2009 Posted 16 February, 2009 Unless they play each other? It can be factored in but it still makes the original quote utter tosh.
lee_saint Posted 16 February, 2009 Posted 16 February, 2009 The worst thing about the prospect of going down is that I can't see us getting up again. We'll be fine in the League One with this squad......some of the teams in that league are awful. We just have to play to the league, it might have to be a bit more long ball.
egreog Posted 16 February, 2009 Posted 16 February, 2009 Whatever league any side play in.......they need all the qualities that Saints have none of......will to win, fitness, team spirit, enthusiasm, grit, determination........and many more attributes..............I sense this "team" are not together, but several bits pulling in different directions............ can't blame them really, the whole club is rudderless so why should the team be any different?
