1976_Child Posted 13 February, 2009 Share Posted 13 February, 2009 As you say about people in Africa at 13 years old being fathers, is that a good thing? Do you not think we are a bit more smarter here to relise being a 13 yr old dad is not a good idea? This country is going downhill fast. Well, some of us are. Comes with education. The problem is that most of the teenage pregnancies happen between poorly educated people. Just because we have an advanced society with "credit derivatives" (sic) doesn't mean we are light years ahead of the Africans. In fact in many respects they are ahead of us as African societies still put a lot of faith in the concept of the extended family where the whole village raises the kids. There would be no outcry if a village elder clipped a young lad round the ear for a misdemeanor like there would be here. Perhaps we should learn from them rather than constantly think that just because we are westerners we are naturally superior.

JohnnyFartPants Posted 13 February, 2009 Share Posted 13 February, 2009 too true... thieving benifit scum On a serious note, I don't think we need to learn from Africa. We changed, and not for the better. well for one thing, we certainly need a long hard look at how many people live on this Island called Britain. Especially here in the south. We also need to stop this ludicrous GDP-growth-chasing nonsense at all costs and start living with sustainability in mind. Simple fact is that economies can't grow indefinately. We don't need all the consumerist crap we are forced to buy in the name of GDP growth. On that score, the Africans (at least my friends in Tanzania) are ahead of us. They are not your stereo-typed starving Africans but neither would you ever describe them as rich. They are however generally content and happy. The same can not be said about our country folk at the moment.

Johnny Shearer Posted 13 February, 2009 Share Posted 13 February, 2009 What a sad state of affairs. Seriously what were the parents doing and what was that 15 year girl up to? The baby shall have a great life. As somehow I dont see the parents staying together forever. I do think the baby will have lots of other half brothers and sister though. Blanco Saint Posted 14 February, 2009 Share Posted 14 February, 2009 The young father was interviewed on the the radio, when asked 'and how will you support the child financially' he replied 'what does that mean' . How scary is that? I was thinking he might say ' do an extra paper round' or ' cut back on the video games' He really does sound very young. Still, he probably can milk a few more quid off the sun and other papers. Maybe even celeb big brother (when he's older)

Saintandy666 Posted 14 February, 2009 Share Posted 14 February, 2009 Sounds like jealousy to me. Naaaaaaa, theres a big difference between having sex and having a child. In my opinion, if you are ready, theres no problem with having sex at 15 or 16, but having a baby at 13 is screwed up.
wheels Posted 14 February, 2009 Share Posted 14 February, 2009 certainly this sort of thing should not be encouraged but my point is that we shouldn't damn them either. Good luck to them I say. They are certainly going to need it. We certainly should ****ing damn them, and their unwashed ****ing parents!! ART Posted 15 February, 2009 Share Posted 15 February, 2009 I've been telling my frog friends for days they ought to do a DNA test on the kid as he's problably only covering up for some other guy who might get into trouble for getting a 15 year old pregnant. Now it seems two other boys have come forward and signed testaments stating they too had sex with the girl. So it looks like a DNA test will be carried out after all. The plot thickens. I wonder where BWP and Nathan were 9 months ago. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ukpress/article/ALeqM5hsJWPIbNNNcPxOcdoL-YGgukWXVA
Evil Monkey Posted 15 February, 2009 Share Posted 15 February, 2009 At the age of 29 and the youngest of three brothers my dad still can't resist pointing to the childrens menu in any restaurant and suggesting that i may want to choose from it. Ahhhh...that joke never tires... They are definitely children. And will remain so until they start earning a living and move out of their parental homes. If your old man is 29, how old are you? Window Cleaner Posted 15 February, 2009 Share Posted 15 February, 2009 Ermmmm she must be f**ked up! I mean, how many 15 year olds do you remember from school going out with 13 year olds?! Let alone sleeping with them!! So wrong though. The lad is a baby himself!! Well apparently it isn't as straightforward as all that. There are some other potential 'dads' as well; Must have been the village bike. In my day lots of lads ****ged lots of girls at 15/16/17, strange no-one ever knocked anyone up though.I suppose at 16 I must have sex about once every 2 weeks throughout the year ,same as the majority of my classmates. Not 1 girl got knocked up though.Mind you the condoms must have been about a foot thick back in those days. And the "pills" were strong stuff (with side effects, usually bigger and bigger tits). Secret Site Agent Posted 24 February, 2009 Share Posted 24 February, 2009 oi. don't be an ar-s. My point is very valid. The whole way we define and deal with teenagers in this country is so old fashioned. In Africa and other parts of the world it is routine for people of this age to be parents. You don't become an adult when you turn 18. Christ, in most parts of the world by that age you are one-third the way through your life. Perhaps if we stop treating young adults as kids and show them some respect they might rise to the challenge and grow up. Sorry, they are under sixteen so legally they are children.
