12 posters have selected Wotton with one picking him right wing???????????????

Wotton is a terrible footballer and one of the worst i've seen in a Saints shirt. He is league 2 standard at best. Gillett might not be great but at least he can run and make the occasional pass.

I agree, Wotton is garbage.

Life is all about opinions, if you do not like my line up fair enough, but don't preach to me and others when you have Surman playing on the right side of midfield.

Size looks as if he is comfortable on the ball. I agree the centre half is an unknown quantity, Skacel has played left back plenty of times, and if Surman wont play to the plan take the **** off.BWP was not a bad striker when he scored against Reading away was he.

Steady Teddy!!!!!!!

I know, i know, you can't take the Weston Park out of me LM.

I am due to have a meal with John Stockley (taught numpties - his words) and Pam Read (French teacher) soon. I'll be sure to mention you to them both. Pam did say that Alec Perkins thought your were too nice to be a professional footballer.

My son wants to go to a party tomorrow. I offered to take him to Bristol City ( I lived there for a few years) but he doesn't want to see Saints lose yet again. Matthew (my son) has not seen Saints win this season

Say hello from me, what Alec Perkins actually said was i was far too pretty to be a professional footballer;).

I have only seen Saints win away this season, so i understand what your lad is saying, and by the way i wouldn't call you a numpty......well not to your face anyway.

Teddy, I wasn't sure you'd remember John Stockley or Pam Read, and John never taught me either....says me with a degree in Philospophy and Ancient Greek now working in IT and doing alright

Are you really sure Alec said that? OK I am sure he did. You had a very pretty girlfriend I do recall maybe Alec was confused.

I shall log onto this website at kick off time tomorrow as per normal and hope and pray we can pick up a point or 3. They did a job on us at St Mary's and were worth their win but all that is urine under the bridge now that we have Wotte in charge!!

Andy i understand what you are saying, but Drew's first instinct is to pull the ball onto his left foot which naturally means he cuts inside. At least on the left he can gamble to get by the full back knowing he has a half decent chance of getting the ball in the box.I agree our right side wide options are limited, which to me is bizarre, considering what you say we have many options on the left, Normally it's the other way around.

Anyway nice talking tactics with you mate:cool:

I see you are utilising the experienced players. Surman has to be on the left, BWP is a natural option on the right, they both have to be told to get to the byeline. I bet you scratched your head a bit over the back four.

Schneiderlin needs the wide players absolutely wide to get the best out of his passing. I'm not sure about Euell with Saganowski, still what have we got to lose, I did think of him playing right back.

The trouble is, there are still problems, would Skacel be better wide left with Surman Left back. I'm not sure how good Liptak is, he'd be a real gamble, it would be easier if I had seen him play.

Apart from Saganowski, Saijs and Perry none of the outfield players has a bolted down position.

Didn't you play for Swaythling after the Dell?

Got to be worth trying Drew at left back with Skacel on the wing, Surman will be cutting inside and trying to get involved with the play if he's on the left where as Skacel should get some chalk on his boots and get up the byline. Surman does quite well getting forward from left back and with Skacel helping him out he should be fine defensively.

Put Euell or BWP on the right with Morgan and Wotton in the middle and you're looking at a decent experienced midfield. Then play Saga alongside Euell, BWP or even McGoldrick.

I think Wotte appreciates some of Wotton's fighting qualities - prepared to put his foot in, keeping going when it gets tough, shouting encouragement to the others. He might not be the most elegant of footballers but Wotte seems to see a role for him - or it might be that our coach thinks that Wotton is the English form of the name Wotte

Enough of the ridiculously lightweight midfield please. Surman is an appalling central midfielder, at least he has been every time I've seen him there. I've seen him look far, far better at left midfield, left back and right midfield.

Davis

James Size Perry Molyneux

Surman Wotton Scheiderlin Skacel

Euell

Saga

subs - bart, lancashire, bwp, gillett, lallana

Surman right mid? he has the worst right foot i have ever seen. chocolate leg...

Yes had a few good seasons there Dave.Sam Stevens was manager.

I knew Sam well. He is a golf partner of Ian White's at Stoneham. I haven't seen either of them for a while. It was John Harris who reminded me that you played for Swaythling. My son is mates with Barry Joslin's son. John is friendly with Ray Sheehan. I knew Roger Sherwood well, he was an big awkward bugger to play against. Kevin Kelly taught my sons.

---------------Davis

James-------Size----------Perry-------Skacel

Gillett------Euell----------Wotton------Surman

-----------Saganowski----McGoldrick

Subs: Paterson, Liptak, Schneiderlin, Bart, lallana

That looks like the strongest team we can put out at the moment. Good mix of experience and youth - one reservation is Paterson - not sure he's ready yet - would put BWP in his place.

James has improved his game at right back so in the absence of anyone else he has to play - needs to improve his crossing though.

I like what Wotte is saying about how he approaches the game - reminds me of NP a bit dare I say! He is a stronger character than JP and is going to play more experience allied to to the best of the young players. I am hopeful he can turn things around - just hopeful not confident!
