saintjay77 Posted 13 February, 2009 Posted 13 February, 2009 Wow, what a totally loony twisting....... I said a minority in favour of administration. Oh, and BTW, a recent poll on here suggested about 85% of us reckon we are going down. You must have missed it... didnt miss it. And I even said we are going down too. It was jwst after we lost a match that we all thought we had a chance of winning. was feeling pretty crap at that point and wouldnt have been surprised if my kids dis-owned me and my balls fell off. Lets just say, for arguments sake, we beat Bristol convincingly. Play them off the park and McGoldrought gets a hatrick and we keep a clean sheet. If the same poll was run then what would you hazzard a guess at the result being? My guess is that people would be high on life and suggesting that we should be walking the league and we will stay up no problem. now im not suggesting that is what will happen but my point is that the poll was taken after a carp game and we all felt carp. had we won the feeling would have been much better and so the poll would have looked much different.

Do you REALLY think that everyone is as knee-jerk as you, and that some serious awakening to our plight hasnt happened ? Have you not read MLTs comments this week ? I knew my greatest fears were coming true when we lost the home matches to Forest and Doncaster.
saintjay77 Posted 13 February, 2009 Posted 13 February, 2009 two draws under Wotte, similar start to NP - not looking good but lets see if he can match it 2 draws and 1 loss in his 1st 3 which is the same as Pearson. I did feel more confident with Pearson than I do with Wotte but Wotte has more games to do it so maybe he can do enough? Just think there is plenty of points to play for and even if we can get 1 win the mood will change for the better and it may be the kick we need to salvage enough points.
NickG Posted 13 February, 2009 Posted 13 February, 2009 dont know whether to praise or ridicule your misplaced optimism...... well it wouldn't be praise for anything from you! I am not optimistic, most pessimistic I have been, but I am not writing off Wotte at this stage, just as I didn't NP with the same start (and much much better squad)

I knew my greatest fears were coming true when we lost the home matches to Forest and Doncaster. to be fair I think I am less knee jerk than many on here but its just a message board and this game of football we all claim to love is very emotional and can make people act strange at odd times. many on here come accross as complete (ocks but in person I doubt they are as bad as they come accross and probably all share the same thing as everyone else on here. A passion for our club! I have stated many times that I dont think it looks good but I am still optimistic that we can pull through. MLT doubts that we can pull it off 2 seasons in a row. How many thought that season after season in the top flight in the 80's? Just because MLT is worried does that mean we are written off? If he came out and said he thinks RL has got things right now and we have a good chance of staying up you wouldnt take his words as fact. you would suggest he is having his arm twisted by Lowe.

Can you not see I was using MLT as an example, not a proof ? I dont know what concerns are shaping MLTs thought processes about Lowe. I do believe, however, that MLT is utterly misguided in his actions where Lowe is concerned.
eelpie Posted 13 February, 2009 Author Posted 13 February, 2009 Its nit worth thinking about.I supect the results in the next few weeks will have a massive bearing on it.i cant recall what date it has to be done by,sometime in march i think. We are not dead yet we have been in a lot worse positions than this before. But nickh, do you think that IF we are relegated, with your knowledge of SFC finances, we can financially survive in League 1? That is the burning question.
trousers Posted 13 February, 2009 Posted 13 February, 2009 I see roughly as much people have voted for 'administration now' as those who vote for the winning Government in a general election.
eelpie Posted 13 February, 2009 Author Posted 13 February, 2009 I see roughly as much people have voted for 'administration now' as those who vote for the winning Government in a general election. So far a large majority vote for not going into administration. While on the other poll 86% believe relegation is inevitable. Curious. That suggests that we unanimously believe that we can survive League 1 with or without a ten points deduction. The Spirit of Southampton is not dead! Or are we just ostriches?

But it goes to show that if he or anyone else says something that fits with what you believe you are happy to use it as proof/example. But if he says something that doesnt fit with what you believe you right it off as something else. I have no problem with you personally and I am not replying to your posts to wind you up. I am just trying to give ballence to some of your ideas. I actually agree with some of your ideas or I have in the past but the doom and gloom does have anotherside to its coin.

I think it depends on when the poll is taken and how it is worded. 1: If its a certanty that we will be relegated should we take administration now? Yes or No 2: If there is still a good chance we could survive relegation should we take administration now? Yes or No Results would be completly different IMO baring a few that want to take admin just to get up olr Rupes nose that is.
saintjay77 Posted 13 February, 2009 Posted 13 February, 2009 Can we get back to topic folks? fair point. got side tracked. Appologies.
Gemmel Posted 13 February, 2009 Posted 13 February, 2009 For all those saying that we are not acting like an organisation about to go into administration, one genuine question from me... What has changed since the accounts were published tail end of last year, which made it very clear that without player sales and/or extra incoming investment we wouldn't be able to continue as a 'going concern'? Q: What's changed? Fair point Trousers and i have no idea of the answer, unless we have agreed to sell players in the summer and the bank is happy to wait until then to reduce the overdraft. The wage bill (That we actually pay) must be one of the smallest in the championship and maybe 15'000 through the door is enough, i don't know, but if the bank were close to foreclosing on us, then teh last thing they would be doing is letting us commit to extra debt, that would have a higher priority than them, should we ever go into Admin.

True, I would have liked more than one question, but I don't think that could be possible. We certainly need to revisit this closer to the mid-March deadline. We have to hypothetise, meanwhile.

It would be my guess that the board will be looking seriously at this closer to the deadline also. As I said before, a couple of wins/loses and a few good/bad performances could swing the vote either way which is why the knee jerk reaction to claim we should jump now doesnt quite fit. With a bit of luck going our way and we could all be looking forward to a better time.
trousers Posted 13 February, 2009 Posted 13 February, 2009 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/art...h-villain.html (21st January 2009) Lowe point for Southampton Southampton's beleaguered chairman Rupert Lowe, who regained a club left in financial meltdown by the chronic mismanagement of the regime that forced him out of office, will have to make a major decision by the third week of March. That is whether to put the club into administration and take the Football League’s 10-point penalty this season. Southampton, whose bank Barclays are threatening to reduce their overdraft facility considerably, have to find extra monies by the end of next month to keep afloat.
John Smith Posted 13 February, 2009 Posted 13 February, 2009 good post and agree with all you said and was not having ago at you you post like one of the real fans at this great club, but their are people who post on here about lowe all the time and wanting us to get relegated because they hate him so much.me i just care about the saints and staying up. And with that, I think it shows that we 'both' want this club to succeed, and we both want good things for the future. Let's hope we are shoulder to shoulder on the terraces again soon and we can all show our support in the best way, by being there and shouting on the Saints to victory! COYR

trousers Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 Anyone want to change their answer? Run-a-round....NOW....
alpine_saint Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 Sod Mike Reid, I am wondering if anyone is man enough to apologise.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 Sod Mike Reid, I am wondering if anyone is man enough to apologise. Alps - that won't happen until we've got our new owner, won L1 and got promoted, won CCC and got back to the Prem. You might find some on here might concede to the one step back, two steps forward principle.
