JohnnyFartPants Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 the striker plus a n other trialist playing this afternoon v glenn hoddles academy at marchwood. o'rly
saintjay77 Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 So does that mean we've signed him or are we testing him out first? (The striker rather than A N Other). IMO the A N Other sounds like a possible introduction to the acadamy rather than a possible 1st teamer. The possible Loan Striker cant be that high up in the pecking order of a prem club if we aren going to trial them 1st either can he?
saintjay77 Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 Who is this A N Other, I ask myself?? He is so dominent! Corrected for benthelegend fans.
scott_saints Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 Corrected for benthelegend fans. I miss Ben!
saintjay77 Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 I miss Ben! Me too. Maybe at the next march we can get someone with a "Bring back the Legend" banner walking at the front? LOL
saint_ed Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 Some of you people who have made suggestions of players seem to still be mistaking us for a club who could attract top players and have the money to do so. Forget anyone like Harewood and Bendtner because its laughable to even suggest it. Start looking in clubs' under 18s then you will be nearer to the truth.
Weston Super Saint Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 Who is this A N Other?? He's a she
Scudamore Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 I miss Ben! He tried to add me on facebook...scared me a little to be quite honest...
Saints67 Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 Probably end up with another Pekhart. Bloody hell there's more than one of them? Hopefully Ched Evans (whose had CCC experience already) from Man Citeh or Freddie Sears from West Ham. Would prefer a right back though.
oxfordshire_saint Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 If he's buttering up Hiddink it'd probably be for Franco DiSanto
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 If he's buttering up Hiddink it'd probably be for Franco DiSanto http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?p=151655&highlight=santo#post151655 This was mentioned when the transfer window opened. Hmmm...
saint_stevo Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 If he's buttering up Hiddink it'd probably be for Franco DiSanto Wouldn't need a trial, and actually gets on for teh the Chelsea first XI
Master Bates Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 So does that mean we've signed him or are we testing him out first? (The striker rather than A N Other). No it doesn't. Don't forget we had Molami Bokoto playing for us the first time we played Hoddle's Academy who scored an over head but hasn't signed
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 Do you have any idea who it might be MB? Or is it going to be the case one of us is going to have to get over to Marchwood to find out?!
Master Bates Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 Do you have any idea who it might be MB? Or is it going to be the case one of us is going to have to get over to Marchwood to find out?! Case of someone going to have to get over to Marchwood, unless Pilchards is already there? 2 strikers we've been linked with on here (TSW) from the Prem are Dos Santos and Welbeck.
Sheff Saint Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 Marlon King? I'd imagine he's 'out of favour' at the moment.
Chez Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 (edited) Case of someone going to have to get over to Marchwood, unless Pilchards is already there? 2 strikers we've been linked with on here (TSW) from the Prem are Dos Santos and Welbeck. with raft of games coming up for both Manure and Chelsea you can bet you bottom dollar that it won't be either of those. Wellbeck is bloody starting in FA Cup games, and Dos Santos came on in the Stoke game a couple of weeks ago. Ben Sahar didn't get a game whilst on loan at the Skates. They clearly want him to get experience. Edited 12 February, 2009 by Chez
Ponty Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 Marlon King? I'd imagine he's 'out of favour' at the moment. After all, he is punching above his weight in the Prem.
Chez Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 Ricardo Vaz Te More likely Ricardo Fuller - he's out injured for a long time and therefore much more our type of loanee. Vaz Te is out till June.
slickmick Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 After all, he is punching above his weight in the Prem. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7885771.stm
Scudamore Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7885771.stm Yeah that was the joke... In terribly bad taste if you ask me... Shame on you Ponty...
Window Cleaner Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 I don't think we want Torres, he has a dodgy hamstring, and he looked a bit shell-shocked when he was made to go to Fratton the other week, I bet we get stuck with some losers like Drogba or Tevez. Watched Tevez play for Argentina against France last night. came on as a sub and immediately went on a charge that created Argentina's second goal. He really is an awesome player, a bit ugly but awesome anyway.
Lets B Avenue Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 The striker plus A N other trialist playing this afternoon v Glenn Hoddles Academy at Marchwood. After 9 months of viewing this soap opera on here, I thought I'd join in. Just got back from Staplewood. Wasn't allowed in as jobsworth told me it was "behind closed doors" and you had to be on the guest list. He wouldn't accept I was Gus Hiddinck!!
a1ex2001 Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 Sahar or Di Santo would be great, but very unlikely with the wages. If we loan a youngster like either of those from the prem I'd be surprised if we were paying a bean towards there wages. Why does everyone on here think that a loan imediately means we have to pay something? Most clubs see loaning out youngsters as part of there development do you think bournemouth paid the wages of all the players we lent them?!? I suspect not. Saw Sahar for Sheffield Wednesday last year looked a good prospect allthough he was continuously offside for most of the match.

Andy_Porter Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 Delfonso from Villa would be ace, can't see Villa loaning us anyone after O'halloran last season.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 (edited) We dont need a striker - we have McG! Edited 12 February, 2009 by Glasgow_Saint
JohnnyFartPants Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 We dont need a sticker - we have McG! Quite.

Channon's Sideburns Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 Striker on loan?? That will be one of the 'wildcats' from down Marchwood Power Station then.... Electrifying pace apparently, but his control is shocking...
Victor Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 Vaz Te is out till June. I wish you hadn't said that - looks like a nailed-on certainty then!
SamKimish Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 Adebayor for free, but Rupert doesn't like his attitude. http://archive.dailyecho.co.uk/2003/8/5/45809.html Ohh what might have been ...
miserableoldgit Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 On Solent at 4.20pm Mr Wotte said that he was happy with his squad and despite being offered players he didn`t think that anyone would be coming in.
Window Cleaner Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 http://archive.dailyecho.co.uk/2003/8/5/45809.html Ohh what might have been ... He wanted to go to tax free, easy life Monaco. As he is not a French National he had the right to be a "resident" ie for tax purposes. French nationals don't have this right. They can live there if they want but not as a tax haven. Our national crooner Johnny Halliday (who ?) tried to become a Belgian citizen a while back so that he could be taxed in Monaco, didn't work. He used us;Metz didn't care who they got money from.
Stu Man Do Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 We have two decent stikers out on loan who would cost us a f*cking fortune in wages to have them here. If we can get a younger Prem striker with Prem club subsidising wages then it would be a better deal. As long as he scores .... Pekhart anyone? 19 goals in 20 reserve matches dont think there were many players in that league scoring more and he was still garbage. Least we know a Rasiak or John CAN score in this division.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 On Solent at 4.20pm Mr Wotte said that he was happy with his squad and despite being offered players he didn`t think that anyone would be coming in. 2 things: 1) Is Wotte crazy in being happy with a squad that has comfortably got us to next to bottom in the league and; 2) What would he know about transfers - I thought that was Rupert's department???
Ex Lion Tamer Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 I hear Collins John is returning to England to play for a less than Premiership team, no idea if its Saints though
NickG Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 On Solent at 4.20pm Mr Wotte said that he was happy with his squad and despite being offered players he didn`t think that anyone would be coming in. that was the headline but went onto sat will keep looking at players other clubs and agents have as available, in other words didn't write off players here now in case we can't get better in but is looking for better
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 Ched Evans Man City striker with championship experience with Norwich would be a decent loan signing. Highly rated by Citeeh and Hughes but not figured for a while in first team.
SFC Forever Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 What would seal it for me is if he had recently purchased a watch identical to the ones sold in the Southampton Earnest Jones  He asked BWP to fetch one while he posed outside.
southamptonfclegend Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=11354 can't see him on this shows the trialist matey but no premiership striker...
Hopkins Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 Anybody got a picture of James Beattie celebrating with his hand to his ear at the Pompey fans at St Marys in 2003. Can't find it anywhere and am not allowed to post a new topic because I haven't paid my fiver. cheers for any help.
Bailey Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 I hear Collins John is returning to England to play for a less than Premiership team, no idea if its Saints though. I made a post about this recently. He was on trial at Charlton but no idea how things went there. I think he'd be a decent signing for us to be honest, well worth having a look at anyway. He's big, powerful, pacey and has bags of potential. Oh and he's Dutch too.
SaintRobbie Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 After all, he is punching above his weight in the Prem. Not doing much is he? I'd have him in our side mind, he'd look like a genius compared to McGoaldraught.
Minsk Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 Anybody got a picture of James Beattie celebrating with his hand to his ear at the Pompey fans at St Marys in 2003. Can't find it anywhere and am not allowed to post a new topic because I haven't paid my fiver. cheers for any help. Yep, but it'll cost you 5.50 plus P&P.
benjii Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 Di Stefano is ****ing ancient. Some of you lot need to get some perspective.
Badger Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 Any reject strikers from Dorchester or Maidenhead Utd available ?
boxosponge Posted 12 February, 2009 Posted 12 February, 2009 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=11354 can't see him on this shows the trialist matey but no premiership striker... (2nd Half - 4-4-2) Poke, Dunford, Liptak, Lancashire, Marsh-Brown, Pulis, McNish, Smith, Boyle, McLaggon, Paterson (Doble, 70) Who was the sub?
