Just a question. If we can't afford Rasiak and John's wages, haven't 'off-loaded' Euell or Skacel and now have Saga back on the wage bill, how have we suddenly got money to pay the wages of a Premiership striker?

Posted
could be :-)

if true this seems a farce as we have 2 decent strikers out on loan,it doesnt make sense.....but hey this is SFC we are talking about.

We have two decent stikers out on loan who would cost us a f*cking fortune in wages to have them here. If we can get a younger Prem striker with Prem club subsidising wages then it would be a better deal.

I think it could be that we have managed to off load the complete wages of our two strikers yet might negotiate to pay a percentage to the Premiership club should the player come here. There must be some pretty skint clubs in mid table that are more or less safe and need the money coming in.

Bungle makes a good point, but hold on, If we're gonna be looking at a striker who needs match fitness, we're not gonna be getting someone of a decent prem standard, we'd get an average to good CCC striker, who will need to learn the game...

Difficult to see anyone that can step right in at the moment, Unless Danny Wellbeck or Scott Sinclair are available

I don't think we want Torres, he has a dodgy hamstring, and he looked a bit shell-shocked when he was made to go to Fratton the other week, I bet we get stuck with some losers like Drogba or Tevez.

Like Peckhardt? Or Hammill?

You could be right. Interestingly enough, I saw a photo of Drogba the other day and he was sporting a hair band. Now call me stupid, but the very same hair bands are on sale in Southampton which makes me wonder if there are "any legs" to this story?

It depends, did he have socks too?

I would like to take this opportunity to point out that technically Tomas Peckhart can be described as a 'Premiership Striker'.

Do not get your hopes up for an expeienced, seasoned, match fit, battling centre forward type from a prem team. Drogba will not be coming to Saints (I know the above referrences to him were in jest, but some on here may actually believe it could happen). Anyone we do get will deemed 'surplus to requirements' at his prem club.

As for a mid-table team who are hard up but reasonably safe, lmfao. There is no team in the prem anywhere near as hard up as us. And, equally, there is no mid-table team who is safe yet. Newcastle, at 13th, are only 4 points above the drop zone. Man City, at 9th, are only 8 points above it. The only teams I would say are 'probably safe' and with only an outside chance of reaching the UEFA cup are West Ham and Wigan.

West Ham's 'fringe' fwds:

Diego Tristan has been used as a sub in most of their recent matches

Freddie Sears - is a good little fwd, similar in build and style to Saga, not what we need

Jack Jeffery - totally unexperienced

Wigan do not have many fwds. Probably the only one they would loan is Craig Mahon, whose only experience is 2 sub appearances for Accrington (not too disimilar from Zoltan's experience).

But then again, I suppose there could be a possibility of us using our ex-Saints team (known as Stoke to most) connections and we could get Vincent Perricard on loan again.

He was wearing a pair of socks just like the ones in Southampton's Debenhams.

I am also led to believe that he has been eating food identical to that sold in the Southampton ASDA.

There are some amazing one nippers out there...

Welbeck from Utd?

Vela from Arsenal?

Sears from West Ham?

Delfouneso from Villa?

Probably end up with another Pekhart.

What would seal it for me is if he had recently purchased a watch identical to the ones sold in the Southampton Earnest Jones

I reckon if this is true we'll be getting one as part of a deal which sees Lallana going the other way at the end of the season. Therefore I'd reckon it might be a Spurs player that Harry doesn't like (Bent?) or a Fulham player who can't get in their team. Those would be my guesses....

It's looking more and more like an ironed on done deal.

Welcome to Saints Drogba. Paul Allen will be pleased.

Does anyone know who Miroslav Stoch is? We've made enquiries to Chelsea about taking him on loan and we're waiting for a response. Never heard of him, but looking on wikipedia, he's 5 foot 6. Not exactly the prototypical centre forward we need. Looks like he's played twice for Chelsea - sub appearances against Arsenal and Stoke and set up a goal in the Stoke game. Remember that game, don't remember him.

Agree with PS, Marlon Harewood would be ideal.

Nicklas Bendtner was seen in The London Hotel.

He would be a good loanee.

He is an experienced and successful striker in the CCC.

He is surplus to Wenger's immediate requirements, who has said he needs to go out on loan.

And Bendtner doesn't mind toughing it with defenders.

Far too good for us. Won't happen. Wish it would too though.

Stoch is a winger I think? He came on in the game that they got those 2 late goals against Stoke and played right wing. By all accounts he has a lot of potential, but is very much untested and definitely isn't a centre forward.

Villa have said that Harewood definitely won't be going out on loan, a number of prem clubs inquired (WBA, Stoke and I think Middlesbrough) and they were given short shrift, as Villa will only accept a straight cash deal. Absolutely no chance of him coming here.

Does anyone actually think we will get someone like Bendtner? Really? He is playing fairly regularly for a club in the Champion's league for christ's sake! If someone like him was available, a prem club would have taken him in January, guaranteed him first team football, agreed to pay all of his wages and prob pay Arsenal £1.5m as well. Please have some sense of reality.

What about the arsenal lad who had his leg smashed last season?

Surly once he is fit Wenger will want him to toughen up and not be such a girl so a few months battleing in the CCC will do him the world of good. :D
