Master Bates Posted 19 August, 2008 Posted 19 August, 2008 Reading have raided Championship rivals Southampton to bring highly-rated 16-year-old star Danny Joyce to the Madejski Stadium. http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,16368,1802_4011018,00.html
saints_is_the_south Posted 19 August, 2008 Posted 19 August, 2008 B*stard! Thought that was Surman then.
Nexstar Posted 19 August, 2008 Posted 19 August, 2008 After thinking it was surman that's ok, as i have never heard of this guy.
Wes Tender Posted 19 August, 2008 Posted 19 August, 2008 Even if it were some youngster that we have never heard of, it rather crosses over assertions that have been made that our emphasis on our academy being the place to come as we will play the youngsters when they are deemed to be ready, regardless of age, eh? So apparently we are not even more attractive than Reading, who are now in the same division as us and this must be a kick in the nuts for us to have a promising youngster leave us for a club who are not a glory team by some distance.
Colinjb Posted 19 August, 2008 Posted 19 August, 2008 It may be something beneath, like him wishing to move to a club closer to home then Reading being 'better' then us. I wouldn't read too much into it.
Saint_clark Posted 19 August, 2008 Posted 19 August, 2008 Not a star and not highly rated, as not even Navyred has ever mentioned him.

Or possibly we didn't really rate him but Reading saw something.Or maybe we have others in similar positions we rated more highly. Or maybe Redaing bought his parents a house, or maybe he lives in Wycombe or Oxford and finds it easier to get to Sonning than Stapleford. Not heard of the kid so can't say I am unduly worried

But if the lad wants to go there's absolutely nothing we can do to stop him at that age Bit of a ****er that's he's a rightback!
Victor Posted 19 August, 2008 Posted 19 August, 2008 Could he be son of Jim? I believe JJ is at Aldershot now, which isn't that far from Reading.
Rebel Saint Posted 19 August, 2008 Posted 19 August, 2008 He was never at Saints. Was playing with Belvedere ( well known youth team in Dublin ) until the summer. He might trained with ST PATRICK’S Athletic FC ( sometimes called saints in Dublin ) but it looks more like a little lazy journalism.

Scummer Posted 19 August, 2008 Posted 19 August, 2008 According to the Reading website, it's James Rowe they've signed from us, as said above Joyce has joined them from somewhere in Ireland. http://www.readingfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10306~1369990,00.html
