Micky Posted 9 February, 2009 Share Posted 9 February, 2009 Crazy crazy world of football...!!! One minute you are the messiah the next your out on your ear...!!! This sort of decission does not bode well for football and only goes to show just how much debt team are in, which in turn they need to offset by challenging for European trophies. Absolutely barmy...

This sort of decission does not bode well for football and only goes to show just how much debt team are in, which in turn they need to offset by challenging for European trophies. Absolutely barmy... I think there are similarities between footy managers and bankers. Bankers bonuses are in the news at the minute because they have been getting gazzillions of pounds for so-called short term success rather than building their businesses over time. Same can be said of managers: everything is on the short term. there is a reason Sir Fergie has built the world's best team which consistently wins everything and that is because he has been at manure since 1882! Jam today mentality...

Trader Posted 9 February, 2009 Share Posted 9 February, 2009 I sense Abramovitch may be tiring of his toy, especially given the current economic climate. Chelsea may be in more trouble than Saints. And that lot down the road - same reasons.

Chelsea may be in more trouble than Saints. And that lot down the road - same reasons. spot on. Chelski owe Abramovitch something like £500 million. Ok when his aluminium plants are churning the stuff out but suddenly no one wants to buy aluminium because the car and construction markets have tanked and suddenly being half a billion down due to your under-performing football club is not such a happy thing. Still. No way he could sell chelsea at the moment and get his dosh back. unless another Arab wants a punt. But then the price of a barrel of oil has plumetted too. Agree to a certain extent - but our Roman is not getting his egotistical wishes (European Cup) and as somebody else has said - could tire of his 'Football Toy'. He has put one hell of a 'personal loan' into the club in chasing his dream and it is yet to be realised - if he pulls the plug (and he is entitled to have the full loan repaid) I think the club will sink..!!! hypochondriac Posted 9 February, 2009 Share Posted 9 February, 2009 even mouriniho wasnt top of the league all season long, a marathon not a sprint etc etc TBF they are quite far behind now. If it was someone like SAF in 4th they wouldn't sack him because they would realise that he has a track record of success and success will soon follow. Scolari does not have that track record and thus does not have that luxury.

Nothing wrong with Chelsea's African players apart from Drogba. Essien is one of the best players in the world and Kalou and Mikel are both great prospects.
