I dont believe this story and think people are jumping on the bandwagon here without knowing facts. I do know however that about 4 weeks ago James Beattie got headbutted from someone I know whilst he was in Oceana ad no-one really gave a toss, that is fact.

Ponty,

I would like to apologise for my comments. You are often sarcastic, but the comment that paritcularly irritated me this week was made by another mod whose name begins with "P".

I mixed you up, and am sorry. The rest of your post about this alleged incident I still disagree with.

Alps.

Thanks for the apology, it's much appreciated. Obviously we're not all going to get along on here, it wouldn't be much of a discussion forum if we all agreed, but I don't actually go out of my way to cause offence.

I have no problem with your appraisal of the situation being wholly different to mine as my missus often reminds me that I'm not always right ;)

Cheers

Ponty

There is a world of difference between someone making a comment about another person on a television recording when the subject of their comment is no where near them, and may never even hear what was said, and going off in someone's face, screaming abus and vitriol directly at them and thinking they won't react.

It's a good job we all know what happened then, so we can make such informed decisions :roll :

If you read the first post then that is clear.

I know but from the thread title it was a statement rather than a question.

Although it has been changed now

Yeah, I could see exactly where you were coming from. A solicitor wouldn't bother to read the first post to make an opinion on that title .

I had lunch today with BWP (Banana Wharf) and he totally denied the so called attack, as he left he asked me to call the Echo and put the record straight, I said I would but now I cannot find my mobile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Drunken stories are nearly always exaggerated, I expect this guy shouted abuse at them and they threw a chip at him or something.

Unless there's any evidence it's not worth wetting your pants over.

Not at all, the guy said what are you all doing on the **** when saints are at the bottom of the league thats when it started! This is 100% from the guy it happened to!

personally couldnt give a shiz if they perform on the pitch and help us get results, its a bit like my favourite bands, i just like their music, dont care that they are trashing hotel rooms... ignorant some might say, but im not here to judge them as people, only as players, thats my job as a fan

Well all I can say is my friend was one of the owners of Bournemouth when he was there and the staff commented when i was there to watch a game, that he was the politest nicest lad there and they adored him. They would have taken him back in less than a heartbeat.

As for the so called assault, well i think it is laughable and just a set up.I dont think we have bneen told where it happened,.If I was a skate it would be so easy to ruin players when you have sites like this.Immediately it is true because it is a fans favourite scapegoat who is said to be involved.

Well it will be fully covered in the echo tomorrow!! Its not laughable or just a silly rumour!! Even if they have been wound up they should know better then to react!

If what Stu ha sposted is incorrect I hope he is held accountable. I'm sick to death of no marks on here spouting lies and slander as though they were fact.

I am surprised that many of you look in the mirror - you wouldn't like what you saw.

Pathetic, childish and does go to show that we have some (note the some) fans that are not what we need.

Chill out sweetie, I was simply passing on what I read on another forum.

Are you the superfan we should all aspire to be? You seem to have a rather large chip on your shoulder.

Not sure where you have posted anything as fact either. People just want to see things they think are there.

This is all fact! BWP and DMc both involved!! No doubt it will be covered in the echo tomorrow.

If it is true then I cannot believe some of you are defending them!!!

Even if they were having abuse thrown at them, is that a reason to react in the way it is alledged they did?

Especially BWP who has been a naughty boy before.

Footballers get paid a stupid amount of money for doing nothing, why on earth should they not expect abuse when they are playing as sh!te as BWP and McGoaldrought are?

Regardless of what was said, if they did resort to violence ( and it will be quite obvious if they are charged with assault and the lad is not, who's to blame ) then they should be booted out of the club sideways.

People used to let Beattie etc off for being an arrogant c*nt most of the time, that's because he was a decent footballer. BWP and McGoalDrought are both arrogant AND sh!te at football.

No it isn't. Unless you were involved personally I can't see how you can say that. Stu never suggested it was either.

I agree.

However I don't think any of us should make any judgement until they are charged with assualt.

Innocent until proven guilty and all that.

Unfortunately I can't see this improving what little 'game' they both have :(

What happened to the concept of innocent till proven guilty.

Seems it goes out the window if your a saints player.

Your guilty end of. even if you were innocent, im pretty sure the cops will

come up with some jumped up charge.

Also I want to point up that my comment about lloyd james is totally without foundation and totally tongue in cheek.

Its so easy to put rumours about. And I believe the one re BWB and DM are

just that.

I seem to recall MLT having his tesco shopping trips heavily examinded a few years ago. I think it was TSF or whatever.

Just ges to prove how much a footballers life is closely put under the microscope.

If you read the rest of my posts you'll see most of my arguments agree with the only fact that NO ONE KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED.... What I said about Clarkson and Browne didn't say that I believe this rumour... I don't believe it. I'm just pointing out that its a stupid comparison

The fact you were obviously never taught the sticks and stones lesson whilst you were a child is very apparent. Also condoning physical violence on an internet forum is just about the only thing on this thread anyone should be ashamed of.

However you are right when you say no one should verbally abuse anyone but whilst not being right it does happens, but resorting to physical violence is not acceptable? If it happened then they deserve what is coming to them.

Call yourself a moderator? You are one of the biggest antagonist wind ups on this forum. How you got that position is beyond me.

I wonder how many people would stand and quietly accept abuse without some sort of response. Players are in the public eye and really should not respond but I guess but that is easy to say when you are not at the receiving end. I wonder if the allegedly beaten up fan was being as restrained in what he said as he is trying to make out.

So here's an example for you....

Policeman on the street just doing his job, when someone comes up to him and starts shouting abuse at him.

Is it alright if the policeman smacks him in the mouth?

As head coach and not a manager in charge of scouting and recruiting. Lowe should have sacked him as well, after the home disaster against Ipswich back in January 2006. He didn't and gets his share of the blame in

Burley's continued single handed destruction of the club

.

??? You clearly have some issues here. TRying to get back to reality

(a) Burley's "single handed destruction"? Sure its "single handed"? Things were great before, were they? Eh? Eh?

(b) "Burley's continued single handed destruction ...". Continued? In what sense does he have any continuing connection with the club? Hasn't your dutch total football revelation swept things clear? Eh? Eh?

© "Lowe should have sacked him .....He didn't and gets his share of the blame in Burley's ...single handed destruction". Doesn't this contradict (a)? Single handed, yet Lowe "gets his share of the blame"? Eh?

Whatever.

I love the way posters reports mischief such as this. It's always some 'butter wouldn't melt' innocent bystander who said " I say Mr Wright-Phillips, do you mind awfully if I appraise you of your recent performances."

More often than not it's some snotty little oik, who demands respect yet gives nothing back. Urethra :) Franklin has a lot to answer for in my opinion

This is almost turning into a witch hunt.:( Please let's just wait and see what materialises over the next few days before making any negative comments.

If the team was top of the league I bet the reaction would be different;)

This week Jeremy Clarkson called Gordon Brown a one eyed Scottish idiot.

Does that now give Gordon Brown the right to go and smack Jeremy Clarkson in the face?

Sorry, but what on earth has that got to do with what I posted?

if this really did happen now come theirs no cctv coverage ?

And - as of 9am on Monday 9th Feb - no media coverage either.

If the story doesn't break in the next hour or so on a mainstream outlet, it's almost certainly total rubbish.

As no one will take me up on my bet that we aren't about to go into administration, does anyone fancy a wager on this instead?

I say the whole thing is nonsense - and that BW-P and DMcG will not be arrested or charged.

I'm not going to comment on the apparent DMG & BWP situation, as it is just rumour at the moment.

However several people have commented that they might have had a few words with the players themselves had they seen them out larging it up. Others have been criticle of that action.

What I would comment on is that these players are supposed to be athletes. Ok so their game got postponed, but they are 2nd bottom of the league with a record (since WGS left) of not being the fittest group in the world compared to their peers. So who thought it was a good idea to even let them go out on the lash on Friday or Saturday or whenever, wouldn't some extra training so they now how to shoot or defend a corner have been a better idea?

Exactly what I'm thinking reading through this thread. Can't summon any great outrage I'm afraid - we don't know if this is true for a start - but it just shows how pitifully low the club's standards are that getting lashed is a solution to our pathetic home form. WGS used to check the bars for signs of players getting rat-arsed. Players are entitled to a private life but you don't put red diesel in a Ferrari. Kelly Holmes didn't win double Gold medals on a diet of Stella or Champagne I suspect. This is the poorest post-war squad we have had so they need to be fitter than our CCC rivals to compete.

Cant blame ARETHA. The original version of 'Respect' was by the late, great, Otis Redding

Without being funny, where has it been stated that any player has been sen out and about "lashed" or even seen with an alcoholic drink?

Two points here. Footballers are select for footballing skills and not for their self control in the face of abuse. They are more likely to react like the average man in the street than a policeman. I am not defending -it merely saying that it is understandable.

Secondly, there was a time in my memory where there was every chance that the PC would have given the little oik a slap. I cannot say that there has been an improvement in lawlessness since they have been prevented from doing so.

Posted
All the players bar none were out on the p1ss last night in in town, lashing it up without a care in the world. A few lads who live and breath this football club had some words and put them very much in place. Understandably they didn't hold back. Rightly or wrongly Lallana was reduced to tears.

At least Beatts had the decency to pick on some skates in a Chinese Restaurant in Manchester. Maybe he is just a big kid who likes food fights remembering the Muffin incident in Bomo :D

His bakery tomfoolery did make great reading on the old SaintsForever.

It has been implied by other posters. I don't feel particularly bothered by said "incident" but considering how many late goals we've shipped and how unfit the squad has been in most of the last 2 years, I'd like to think that the players might be working ultra hard to redress the lack of quality we have with the high work-rate they showed earlier in the season.
