um pahars Posted 7 February, 2009 Posted 7 February, 2009 Doncaster must be on a hell of a run. Norwich could be struggling with this score and of course our game against Watford will be massive. Barsnley are another team we want to fall back down.
um pahars Posted 7 February, 2009 Posted 7 February, 2009 Looking at the table as it stands now, it's a mixed afternoon, BUT the headline news is that we are now 4 points from safety, effectively 5 due to our goal difference. On top of that the club 4/5 points ahead of us (Barnsley) have a game in hand. The only bright side is Norwich losing. We have a game in hand but are 4 (effectively 5 points behind them).
InvictaSaint Posted 7 February, 2009 Author Posted 7 February, 2009 Blackpool now down to 10 men - Charlie Adam sent off. Doncaster currently 3-2 up in this game.
BotleySaint Posted 7 February, 2009 Posted 7 February, 2009 The other teams that were around us have started to improve. There was always that risk. We need to start a run of our own... trouble is we've got bloody hard teams coming up. Still, it went down to the last day last season. This could be the same!
Stax Posted 7 February, 2009 Posted 7 February, 2009 were down:smt088 Yes its looking really bad if we dont win at Bristol city we could be 7 points from safety.

If it went down to the last game of the season id take that now!!
obelisk Posted 7 February, 2009 Posted 7 February, 2009 I've decide to (mostly) not bother too much about what other teams are doing until our lot start improving. If Saints can't claim 3 points in anything other than the odd game here and there it doesn't really matter too much how those above us are getting on. Basically I think that means I've just lost all hope.
InvictaSaint Posted 7 February, 2009 Author Posted 7 February, 2009 FT Blackpool 2 Doncaster 3 (Doncaster up to 34 points)
Jonnyboy Posted 7 February, 2009 Posted 7 February, 2009 We need at least three wins and three draws to stay up IMO, very achievable ( I tell myself)...
Gemmel Posted 7 February, 2009 Posted 7 February, 2009 We need at least three wins and three draws to stay up IMO, very achievable ( I tell myself)... 12 more points will keep us up

We need to start a run of our own... trouble is we've got bloody hard teams coming up. Still, it went down to the last day last season. This could be the same! Looking at the 8 game current form table, then Barnsley and Watford are only slightly ahead of us. Derby were also just above us, but todays result pulls them away. Interestingly Plymouth, who got spanked by Derby are below us, but perhaps their 7/8 points advantage is too great to overhaul. Could be perhaps any 2 from Saints, Watford, Barnsley and Norwich (But Donny, Derby & Forest not out of the woods). Problem for us though, is that we need to get on a run!!!!!!
Jonnyboy Posted 7 February, 2009 Posted 7 February, 2009 12 more points will keep us up  OK 4 wins :-(
St Marco Posted 7 February, 2009 Posted 7 February, 2009 Pretty bad results for us. We fall a further point behind with some teams still having a game in hand to play. We need 5 points now just to get out of the zone. Because of the Watford game being called off will mean we play Bristol away then 2 more home games, meaning by that point 4 of our last 5 games will have been at home. With these results we have to be honest and say it is now out of Barnsley,Norwich,Watford,Us and Charlton for the 3 relegation spots.
VectisSaint Posted 7 February, 2009 Posted 7 February, 2009 Sorry Jonny, but if you think 12 points will keep us up, then you will hve a shock. 22 points will get us to 50. Last season Leicester got 52 points and went down. I think 50 will be enough this season, but 22 points from 15 games given our form so far is a stretch goal I'm afraid.
um pahars Posted 7 February, 2009 Posted 7 February, 2009 Pretty bad results for us. We fall a further point behind with some teams still having a game in hand to play. We need 5 points now just to get out of the zone. Effectively two wins and we have to overhaul two teams. Next week : Bristol City v Saints Watford v Swansea (midweek) Sheff Utd v Barnsley Preston v Norwich Out of that, being honest maybe Watford could get something. This will go to the wire!!!!!!!!!!!
Nexstar Posted 7 February, 2009 Posted 7 February, 2009 Now desperate to know when the watford game is, going to be make or break!
lordswoodsaints Posted 7 February, 2009 Posted 7 February, 2009 imo we need 20 points from 15 games.....cant see it tbh,as i said on another thread we are averaging 0.9 points per which gives us 14 points from 15 games.we will go down unless we can improve on the 0.9 points per game but it will take a drastic turnaround for that to happen and i cannot for the life of me see how or when that will happen with the current setup.sorry to dissapoint you all:-(.

Next week : Bristol City v Saints Watford v Swansea (midweek) Sheff Utd v Barnsley Preston v Norwich Out of that, being honest maybe Watford could get something. This will go to the wire!!!!!!!!!!! The problem is though mate if we lose say the next game or draw and the others win will mean we will go to needing 7 or 8 points to get out etc.. We are on the critical line i think now. I just can't help looking back at that run when we lost 5 of 6 games and stayed 1 point above the relagation zone when all the results were on our side with everyone else losing too. I can't help but think our chance was then to pull away and we blew it.

As each week goes by and we still need 5 points to get out of the drop zone, then so it starts to become an impossible proposition. We now have to outperform two teams by something like 5 points over the next 15 games. Unless we reduce that deficit PDQ, then we will be left up sht creek.

um pahars Posted 7 February, 2009 Posted 7 February, 2009 i think we are all ready up it.:smt022 We are well up that creek, but our only saving grace is that there are probably 4 other teams up there with us. I wonder which two will find their paddle????

DaveyR Posted 7 February, 2009 Posted 7 February, 2009 We are fooked, well and truly. I just can't see for the life of me Saints getting out of this. We are down unless some serious wheeling and dealing in the loan market is done and I can't see that happening as that is just admission that the Dutch folly has failed.
aintforever Posted 7 February, 2009 Posted 7 February, 2009 If we had a proper manager we would have a chance, as it stands I think we will be relegated by a mile, the last 2 or 3 games will be meaningless IMO.
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 7 February, 2009 Posted 7 February, 2009 If we had a proper manager we would have a chance, as it stands I think we will be relegated by a mile, the last 2 or 3 games will be meaningless IMO. Yup!
Thedelldays Posted 7 February, 2009 Posted 7 February, 2009 Plymouth 0 Derby 3 told you all plymouth will do well to stay up...proves my theory that luggy and the prem do not mix...he is an avergae manager at best
brmbrm Posted 7 February, 2009 Posted 7 February, 2009 told you all plymouth will do well to stay up...proves my theory that luggy and the prem do not mix...he is an avergae manager at best Oh how I wish we had an average manager. True joy, that would be... take me back....aaahhhhhh bliss........
Loyal Saint Posted 7 February, 2009 Posted 7 February, 2009 told you all plymouth will do well to stay up...proves my theory that luggy and the prem do not mix...he is an avergae manager at best I agree TDD but sadly we've had a fair few well below average managers since
