saint_bert Posted 7 February, 2009 Share Posted 7 February, 2009 Ive had a look at Watfords fixture list. And its only rough calculations and bearing in mind putting in that they lose their cup match against Chelsea I am going to guess at a possible two dates for the game to take place. Tuesday 24th Febuary Tuesday 21st April Like I say I dont know international dates etc and thses are only guesses but thats what sense I can make of it all
saintwarwick Posted 7 February, 2009 Share Posted 7 February, 2009 that is as maybe......but Sheffield to Southampton is a hell of a way and their fans would have had to come through some horrendous weather. I am merely pointing out that Watford, who have a playable pitch, are taking other factors into consideration, such as journeys their, and visiting supporters, have to make. I believe people were still being urged not to travel Tuesday unless their journey was necessary and given that I would have thought due consideration should have been given Tuesday night. According to Solent on Tuesday afternoon, Totton (not a million miles from Southampton) was still bad on the roads. Dont want to make an issue out of it, just my observations : - ) Not true actually. I live in Cheltenham and we had 3 inches (just as we had yesterday and again this morning), The West Mildlands also had several inches and the last time I looked, you have to travel through the West Midlands to get from Sheffield to Southampton. So from reading reports the pitch was playable but surrounding areas dangerous? This didn't stop Saints v Sheff Utd last Tuesday when Sheffield team and fans travelled length of country ok? my advance train ticket with Virgin train ****s is non refundable. Bleeding southern softies :-( Just to put the record straight, I live in Warwick and most of the route Sheffield had to take would take in the route which I travel through and all roads were completely clear with no winter conditions to stop travelling fans. There was a small winter shower between Oxford and Newbury but nothing to write home about so all those claiming to have read or heard about severe winter conditions for travelling fans, you can take it from me these are wide of the mark. Also around SMS and surrounding areas were free from danger so the game on Tuesday had no reason to be cancelled.

I got home at midnight which is the time I get home on any normal evening games because quite simply there were no hazards on the homeward trek. Why do you think the Sheffield fans made it to the ground, why do you think I made it to the ground and back again in the normal time. There was no "risk" factor on this route from my personal experience, fact.
