Yup, in fact there were very few issues with the surrounding area in Soton on Tuesday. The pavements were a little wet, but not icy. There was no reason for the game not to go ahead.

I see the poster lives in Bournemouth - and I know that area was worse, but Saints can't call a game off because it is snowing in Bournemouth.

yep...

cant call a game off because a few saints fans didnt fancy it

(jesus, I am agreeing with you a fair bit lately)

why....it was clearly safer to get to southampton than london

that is as maybe......but Sheffield to Southampton is a hell of a way and their fans would have had to come through some horrendous weather.

I am merely pointing out that Watford, who have a playable pitch, are taking other factors into consideration, such as journeys their, and visiting supporters, have to make.

I believe people were still being urged not to travel Tuesday unless their journey was necessary and given that I would have thought due consideration should have been given Tuesday night. According to Solent on Tuesday afternoon, Totton (not a million miles from Southampton) was still bad on the roads.

Dont want to make an issue out of it, just my observations : - )

Shut up. Im just angry! only away game ive been able to get too this season as I work most weekends and work around the home games so I can get to them. This is just **** news.

whilst you blame watfords backward ground....

um, you do realise that nearly all the london grounds are and will be playable and that the roads and transportation is the problem in and round th city of london...

the ice is melting at the mo and will re-freeze overnight making the roads just as bad...

the last thing that need in certain parts of the country is a volume of people that dont need to be there..

obviously other parts of the country wont be effected...as just 30 miles away from me there is absolute chaos near exeter yet here in plymouth, we have not had a drop of snow and have clear skies..

HTH

Wrong.

On Tuesday the snow was confined to the South East corner of the country, so unless their Sat Nav got Southampton and Dover confused they would have had a clear run down the country.

Valid observations will get you nowhere on here! ;)

Why cant it be put in on a cup round weekend ?

Because there are scheduled league fixtures on all remaining cup weekends. In fact, some knowledge of football what show you that FA Cup 5th Round weekend is next weekend, yet we are playing Bristol City in the league.

Then, you could say that on 6th Round or Semi-final weekend if the team we were supposed to be playing was in the FA Cup still it would become free. A quick glance at the fixture list easily tells you that the two teams we are playing on those dates are already out the FA Cup.

There have been league fixtures on these dates for many, many seasons. It is not new.

That is why.

Soft Hertfordshire wimps, it's fine in NW London!! Grr.

I've taken a slow train from Euston to Watford Junction earlier today - from everywhere after Harrow the snow begins and gets gradually worse as you reach Watford. Central London and some outer areas are fine, but Herts etc. has been quite affected.

i for one think this is bad for us.

the talk on here has been if we lose to watford, and there is a good chance we would have to go into administration before the end of the season, that we should do it straight away as the deadline for taking the points this year is at the start of march.

losing to watford would leave us very much expecting to be relegated and although the talk was only between us, the theory is sound and the delay to such a fixture in my mind is bad news for us!

Not true actually. I live in Cheltenham and we had 3 inches (just as we had yesterday and again this morning), The West Mildlands also had several inches and the last time I looked, you have to travel through the West Midlands to get from Sheffield to Southampton.

that is fine...but not on the same scale as london etc..hence why the police stopped the london games..

You should be thankful its been called off today, imagne if you had all turned up and they cancelled it.

anyway im pleased as I will be able to make the game if its on a tuesday.

i wouldn't have minded getting all the way to London only for it to then be cancelled.....at least i would be p1ssed,and could still enjoy a good day out with some mates.

now i've had to find something else to do, as my ex has got the kids for the weekend, so might as well take advantage of the peace while i can.........so i'm gonna do some much needed decorating instead........boooooooo:(

Just got home from a night out in North London, have to say it's dry and the skies are clear. Even walked home in my jumper, kept my coat and scarf in my bag. Although I do take your point that north of here may be worse.

That said, it's been mild (ish) all day after I flash mobbed Liverpool Street and finished uni. Can't help but think some politics from Watford have been put into force...

Are they more likely to beat us perhaps in front of a noticeably smaller away following if it's moved to a weekday night?

So from reading reports the pitch was playable but surrounding areas dangerous?

This didn't stop Saints v Sheff Utd last Tuesday when Sheffield team and fans travelled length of country ok? my advance train ticket with Virgin train ****s is non refundable.

Bleeding southern softies :-(

The surrounding areas in Soton weren't dangerous at all though.
