saintrich Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 The pitch at Watford will be fine, but apparently surrounding areas aren't looking too promising... :-/
DT Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 I hope it is called off. I can't bear much more misery and we could do with catching up in terms of games in hand. Then again, the league will look terrible with us cut adrift. Oh woe.
eelpie Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 (edited) The weather up here in London is relatively warm and wet today, so I'm pessimistic that the match will take place. Still, got my ticket and once there I will revert to my insanely positive, noisy optimistic self. I feel that this is the year that Saints will achieve their second only ever win at Watford! That's football. (Edit. Written before the postponement was announced.) Bother. Theyr'e just scared of us, lol Edited 6 February, 2009 by eelpie
the wedge Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 I live about 15/20 mins from Watford, and the weather although wet is quite bright and warm. Any snow or ice that was left from this week's carnage is being washed away so I'm quite optimistic it'll be on.
HertsSaint Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 Just heard the match has been called off tomorrow. Not confirmed on any of the news sites yet though.
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 Just heard the match has been called off tomorrow. Not confirmed on any of the news sites yet though. Well...where did you hear it from? Chiltern FM?
HertsSaint Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 Heard it from a friend who works for Herts police.
Ponty Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 Let's hope it's off. It'd be nice to go a weekend unbeaten.
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 I will be sorely ****ed off if this game has been called off. I still find that going to football is the only thing that gets me through the week.
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~1547842,00.html arse!
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 The game is off I'm afraid, just read this on the Watford site: http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~1547935,00.html FOLLOWING a risk assessment carried out this morning the decision has been taken to postpone tomorrow's (Saturday February 7) Championship fixture between Watford and Southampton at Vicarage Road. Due to continuing adverse weather conditions, with snow and ice having hit much of the country in the past five days and the low freezing conditions forecast overnight, the risk to the general public if the game went ahead could have potentially been too high...
krissyboy31 Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 According to Watford OS it IS OFF!! http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~1547842,00.html
saintrich Posted 6 February, 2009 Author Posted 6 February, 2009 Gash, what am i supposed to do tomorrow now
saintrich Posted 6 February, 2009 Author Posted 6 February, 2009 I presume tickets and travel coach tickets will still be valid for the re-arranged game??
eelpie Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 It's not even snowing at Watford. They're scared of us!
Master Bates Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 I presume tickets and travel coach tickets will still be valid for the re-arranged game?? That's what it says at the bottom of the article.
Ponty Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 Does this help or hinder us ? Well, we won't lose. We hardly needed to keep up the momentum of the last 3 games.
thorpie the sinner Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 Does this help or hinder us ? I would say help Alps!!! We may have a new board and manager when we get round to playing it, ha ha!!
krissyboy31 Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 It's not even snowing at Watford. They're scared of us! They are not making the mistake that we made Tuesday in pulling out all the stops to get the game played only for it to backfire on them, both in terms of result and attendance.
krissyboy31 Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 Lol at SSN: Breaking News Watford v Southampton postponed due to SNOW.
Weston Super Saint Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 Does this help or hinder us ? I think it just sealed our fate didn't it? This was the 'must win' match that decided whether or not we went into administration to take the points deduction this season. We aren't playing the game so you just know the ruddy cheek one will put the obvious decision off for even longer, so the inevitable will happen and we'll get the point deduction next season and most likely start the season at the bottom of division 3 with minus 15 points. Let the good times roll
hypochondriac Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 Dam! Bugger **** Balls. What a terrible weekend now
bungle Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 Couldn't find any cheap train tickets for this anyway, so was preparing to spend about £40 getting there. Hopefully find some cheap ones for the evening it is now played.
the wedge Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 Soft Hertfordshire wimps, it's fine in NW London!! Grr.
hypochondriac Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 Soft Hertfordshire wimps, it's fine in NW London!! Grr. Know what you mean wedgie, little bit of snow and Britain goes to hell!
alpine_saint Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 If this is now going to be a mid-week game, I'd call it a definite hinderance. We are crap at mid-week games
IFHP Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 If this is now going to be a mid-week game, I'd call it a definite hinderance. We are crap at mid-week games Wasn't our only home win this season mid-week?
bungle Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 If this is now going to be a mid-week game, I'd call it a definite hinderance. How have you managed to only just realise it will be a mid-week game?
Edmonton Saint Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 Livid, seems a tad premature. Was looking forward to this one as well(well as much as anyone can look forward to seeing Saints at the moment)

A good point. Oh dear.
beatlesaint Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 So Watford take into consideration people travelling to the match, the surrounding areas etc etc. Pity we didnt on Tuesday.........(and i dont just mean cos we lost)
Thedelldays Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 why....it was clearly safer to get to southampton than london
Nexstar Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 So Watford take into consideration people travelling to the match, the surrounding areas etc etc. Pity we didnt on Tuesday.........(and i dont just mean cos we lost) We did, after consulting the police and they said it was fine to play.
bungle Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 why....it was clearly safer to get to southampton than london Yup, in fact there were very few issues with the surrounding area in Soton on Tuesday. The pavements were a little wet, but not icy. There was no reason for the game not to go ahead. I see the poster lives in Bournemouth - and I know that area was worse, but Saints can't call a game off because it is snowing in Bournemouth.
