TijuanaTim Posted 4 February, 2009 Posted 4 February, 2009 Our greatest centre forward undergoes his second Hip op (no 'hip-hop' puns please) early tomorrow. He has had five vials of blood taken and he quipped to me "Tim, my frigging arm is empty!" Chris, his wife is going to stay with him for at least a couple of nights and he expects to be there until next Tuesday. Please send your 'get well' wishes through this link. All appropriate messages are printed by volunteers and taken to the patient. http://www.phs.org/phs/hospitals/content/card/index.htm
Micky Posted 4 February, 2009 Posted 4 February, 2009 Thanks Tim - l like the card thing - just sent him one telling him he's on the Team Sheet for next week, so he had better get well soon. For those wanting to send cards I used the http://www.e-cards.com/ link and it was pretty simple to do from there, just send the card to patient@phs.org making sure you get Rons name is on the card somewhere, and they will do the rest - neat.

EastleighSoulBoy Posted 4 February, 2009 Posted 4 February, 2009 Mail sent, with great and pleasurable memories of the greatest centre forward that the world has ever seen.
Saint_clark Posted 4 February, 2009 Posted 4 February, 2009 Tim, has there been any mention about him coming over here to one of the games? I'd happily put in a donation for the travel costs.

Thank you Saint clark and you are a true Saint for saying that. The thing is, we have to wait and see how Ron recovers and reacts after re-habbing today's op. A lot of people are suggesting it would provide a huge boost at a game, I tend to agree. We have also toyed with the idea of some sort of (maybe pre-season) friendly/testimonial/recognition game??? The build up and motivational effect could be really beneficial either at the start or end of the season...Get him out there on the pitch, ten minutes before kick-off, flash up some of his best Southampton goals on the big-screens as he fires us up with a pre-match statement of what Saints and especially their fans mean to him!! Something like that??
TijuanaTim Posted 5 February, 2009 Author Posted 5 February, 2009 By now Ron has his new (Titanium, I believe) hip. So keep sending the 'get-wells'
TopGun Posted 5 February, 2009 Posted 5 February, 2009 By now Ron has his new (Titanium, I believe) hip. So keep sending the 'get-wells' Let's get him out of retirement!
Hamilton Saint Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 Thanks a lot for this, Tim. I have just sent along a Get Well e-mail message. Let's hope Ron is up and 'at 'em soon.
skinner Posted 6 February, 2009 Posted 6 February, 2009 Cheers Tim. Message sent to the best we ever had. Keep the updates coming
TijuanaTim Posted 6 February, 2009 Author Posted 6 February, 2009 Latest on Ron: Ron's op seems a huge success, he is fairly comfortable and the physical therapist has already been with him to get him up and start excercising him. We have got Ron and his wife Chris in a private room and she can stay in relative comfort with him (overnight). They have a beautiful view from his room and things are going well. The surgeon says that Big Ron is in great shape for 66 and will probably have a fairly speedy recovery. He is getting the best possible care and treatment and being treated like the star he is. Ron is very grateful to everyone and knows he is not a forgotten hero. Please keep the 'get well' wishes coming through this link. All appropriate messages are printed by volunteers and taken to the patient. He is in room number 385 http://www.phs.org/phs/hospitals/content/card/index.htm
TijuanaTim Posted 7 February, 2009 Author Posted 7 February, 2009 Maybe we could make a 'Sticky' out of this so those only reading at the weekend will have a chance to see it and wish one of our adopted 'chosen sons' get well and best wishes :-)
stanthemanfairoak Posted 7 February, 2009 Posted 7 February, 2009 done a great job tim me boy keepin us all up to date.
TijuanaTim Posted 10 February, 2009 Author Posted 10 February, 2009 Well - Big Ron was allowed home from hospital today, one day ahead of schedule due to his good recovery rate. Ron received all the 'Get-Wells' that were sent and was pretty touched. His answer to many of you is "I'll be fit enough to play by about July ;-) ". Believe me and you, he would love to be able to help us get out of our current predicament. We had a good chat and he really wants to thank everyone for their thoughts, he is very proud to be remembered so fondly.
