.comsaint Posted 4 February, 2009 Posted 4 February, 2009 Sat 7th - Watford (Away): It may be only early February but this coming Saturday's visit to Watford already is the proverbial six-pointer. Sitting immediately above us in the bottom three - Watford are just 2 points better off having played 1 game less. They've lost 5 of their last 7 CCC - the only victory in that sequence being a 3-0 win at home against Burnley last home game. This will be a tough game for Saints with both sides desperately needing a win. A draw is no good to either of us in reality & neither side can afford to lose - not this one. Sat 14th - Bristol City (Away): Bristol City have found superb form...just as Saints are due to pay them a visit shortly! They have won 5 of their last 6 CCC games - the other being a very respectable 2-2 at home against league leaders Wolves. A very difficult task to pick up anything there - so I'd grab a point gleefully right now with both hands! Sat 21st - Preston North End (Home): Preston currently occupy the final play-off place (6th) and have only lost 1 of their last 6 CCC games (at Swansea - which is no disgrace). One of those was a 1-3 away win at Wolves - so they do win away occassionally! Having said that - our home form is shambolic to put it mildly - but sooner rather than later - we simply HAVE to start winning our home games if we're to survive. Whether it'll be against PNE in our next home game is anyone's guess of course! Sat 28th - Cardiff City (Home): The Bluebirds currently sit 5th in the CCC and...are you ready for this...are unbeaten in their last ELEVEN league games! They've won 6 of those & drawn 5. Once again - for two Saturday's running - we are at home. We all know what that means! I hope to God by then that we've beaten PNE at home the previous week or we are big BIG trouble coming into March. Cardiff are a tough nut to crack - but we are now past the stage of a single point acceptable against a top side. We simply HAVE to win our home games if we are to have any chance of survival in this division. Summing up then - a very VERY tough February indeed.
saints_is_the_south Posted 4 February, 2009 Posted 4 February, 2009 And then starting March with two aways games, one of them against Birmingham. I think we might get a point against Preston, the rest we'll lose.
.comsaint Posted 4 February, 2009 Author Posted 4 February, 2009 If we lose to Watford we are done. Yep. My thought's exactly...
Saints foreva Posted 4 February, 2009 Posted 4 February, 2009 Watford 5-0 Southampton Bristol City 2-0 Southampton Southampton 2-3 Pne - Late winner after we come back from being 2-0 down. Southampton 0-3 Cardiff. I hate this football club.

ladysaint Posted 4 February, 2009 Posted 4 February, 2009 Been over 20 years I think since we beat Watford at Vicarage Road so I think we are in for a win this year.
channonwindmill Posted 4 February, 2009 Posted 4 February, 2009 4 defeats. Simple as that. Much as it pains me to say it, I have to concur.
slickmick Posted 4 February, 2009 Posted 4 February, 2009 Been over 20 years I think since we beat Watford at Vicarage Road so I think we are in for a win this year. Me too. All winnable games, with the right manager.
