sidthesquid Posted 4 February, 2009 Posted 4 February, 2009 Yes, that's what all managers like Billy Davies do, they have a look on internet forums and if they find people moaning about the club, they go and manage a fruit farm in Brazil... Hello? Despite the growing population there is still space on earth for another resident when you're ready... They don't need to look on here - just watch the fans fighting on the terraces & read the papers
spain saint Posted 4 February, 2009 Posted 4 February, 2009 I have supported the new manager because he is just that, but why oh why do we never learn that promoting from within never works for us? The people that are saying we should keep on supporting him, do you really believe that he is any different from jan? or is he really the manager that we needed to take over? From my point of view I will not write off a manager from the start and have reluctance too after three games but I didn't think he would be any good and my patience are starting to run out fast! Wake up Lowe and smell the coffee! You are seriously out of your depth!
spain saint Posted 4 February, 2009 Posted 4 February, 2009 Wanted Pearson to STAY. Are you a politician or something? Stay, yes, but not the same as not wanting him when he arrived. I fully agree that the current approach isn't working, but to be fair to Wotte he has started playing 4-4-2 which we all wanted and everything that has gone on over the last 5 years to bring us to this state is not exactly his fault. All I was saying is give the guy a chance How many matches should we give him a chance for? Shall we wait until we are relagated before we critisize him? Answer on a postcard please!

All I was saying is give the guy a chance Pearson was a known quantity that people feared could not do the job. He succeeded by the skin of his teeth and the failure of Leicester City and Coventry to hit a barn door with a banjo. Despite such lowly success we welcomed and embraced him!! That's how fecking low our standards are mate!!!! Few people wanted him - of course! When the alternative was a Billy Davies with a proven record what do you expect?? Why should we give unproven managers a chance??? I could have a go on that basis. The point about Wotte is HE'S HAD a BLOODY CHANCE. He's been here for -19 goal difference and 1 home win. What do you expect him to do???
Legod Third Coming Posted 4 February, 2009 Author Posted 4 February, 2009 They don't need to look on here - just watch the fans fighting on the terraces & read the papers Be sensible. You think managers think the fans dictate results and reaction or vice versa??
Mole Posted 4 February, 2009 Posted 4 February, 2009 They don't need to look on here - just watch the fans fighting on the terraces & read the papers These are the symptoms of having lowe as chairman.
chi saint Posted 5 February, 2009 Posted 5 February, 2009 Be sensible. You think managers think the fans dictate results and reaction or vice versa?? The point you are missing, again, is that any manager has contacts, they know what they face in terms of budgetry constraints, the reputation of the board, the youth set up, the back room staff capability etc etc and they would certainly know that joining this club presently would at the first sign of defeat amount to accusations of being a friend of Lowe, his acolyte, letting Lowe run the team and tactics etc, none of which would have any foundation. So get real, face facts, we are not an attractive proposition to any manager with a half decent reputation. With the constant managerial merrygoround any decent manager would know he'd only have to wait a while until an opportunity arose. Hence the Dutch contingent. As for your assertion that we as a club have been supportive of our previous managers only confirms your a revisionist where history of this club is concerned. But if it needs setting the record straight here goes:- Your quote "Some of us even wanted Gray to get a bit more time" - like Wotte you mean? We couldn't believe Lowe fired Sturrock... Well I certainly recall derisory comments almost from the start, largely centred around his presentation skills, nothing to do with his football, pathetic! Then appointed Wigley- I liked the guy but I hope your not attempting to make a case that he got the fans support in any great numbers? We rejoiced at Redknapp (bad call) - I would argue that was a classic case of Schadenfreude - but ended up a case of what goes around comes around! Thought Burley was a decent effort. - This is simply unforgivable as it's so recent, I could understand you forgetting the previous examples but sorry the abuse that man got both in terms of team selection, tactics, even to the point of questioning his drinking habits (Wanted Dodd and Gorman to succeed) - Well you need to address with all those that immediately questioned their qualifications in the role, similar to Dennis and Dave Bassett in that regard. Wanted Pearson to STAY - agreed some of us from as soon as he got the job, others when he had saved us, either way I agree he was wanted. Your quote " Thought Poortvliet was high risk but gave him time" Thats what we are doing with Wotte - you need to get a grip old chap, time is something we don't have I realise but again neither are we likely to get a choice of managers. The only real choice we have is to support the club or not. For some of us no choice at all as to do anything else feels at this time of crisis to be a betrayal of players and a management team whom I have no doubt are doing their best, perhaps their best is not good enough, that well know relatively shortly but i'll do my bit as long as they continue to do theirs. I don't support Lowe, frankly right now i'm not going to waste my energy trying to dislodge him, rather i'll get behind the team and do my best. They can ask no more from me.
InvictaSaint Posted 5 February, 2009 Posted 5 February, 2009 Perhaps it's indicative of society as a whole, 'wanting something for nothing, high unrealistic expectations, lack of personal responsibility' The irony being that those self-same societal problems....have been displayed by Lowe in spadefuls since he returned.

Cobblers is all I can say to that. This web-site is a tiny section of the fans and what you saw from the stands was even support for Poortvleit until it became obvious he and his system was failing. Every manager will attract derision and support in equal measure until he has proven himself. I was totally against WGS because his only career was relegating Coventry. Three months later he had proven his worth. And I was 100% delighted to be proved wrong. EVERY fan is delighted to be proven wrong about managers and players they don't rate. Because Alpine Saint was against Burley from the start does not mean the vast majority were. Nor were those in the ground anti Wigley or Sturrock. Again, you confuse a vocal minority with the 32,000 who were turning up. You have reshaped history to suit your own petty argument in support of the clown running the club. Give Wotte time??? He's had all season. How much lower do you think we should go before you wise up?

I think your first line (cobblers is all I can say to that) says it all, it is succinct and neatly forms the sum total of your arguement. I think we'll agree to disagree and besides I only have one post left tonight and wouldn't want to waste it on this futile thread ha ha.

Doesn't Rupert pick up the tab for expense any more... So you're prepared to give Wotte time. See you at Carlisle.
