um pahars Posted 6 February, 2009 Share Posted 6 February, 2009 (edited) why up until yesterday' date=' the general consensus on here was that John Corbett had gifted the Jacksons farm to Saints - and no one corrected this as it was used as a way of increasing the the 'deseserved nature of Mary's involvement' - now Mary herself has corrected this ...[/quote'] As someone else has correctly pointed out on another thread, the history, purchase and sell back of Jackson's Farm has been discussed and clarified a number of times in the past. There has never been any attempt by anyone who was aware of what the actual history was, to portray the deal in any other way than what factually happened. Just because you and some others missed or failed to read that thread, it doesn't follow that someone was trying to pull the wool over anyones eyes. I'm totally unsure of how you not knowing or understanding about this issue has any relevance to this thread. Frank's cousin Posted 8 February, 2009 Share Posted 8 February, 2009 As someone else has correctly pointed out on another thread, the history, purchase and sell back of Jackson's Farm has been discussed and clarified a number of times in the past. I would disagree about the 'clarity' statement UP, When some were slagging MC last time around there were planety using her fathers 'gift' to ram home the deserved nature of the appointment. John Corbett was undoubtedy a true saint and deservedly gets the plaudits anyway for his love and contribution to the club without the need for 'extras'. Its relevence is that is symptomatic of the way some things are communicated selectively - At the very least Duncan admits it, he knows he is only getting one side of the story, is biassed and defends his position which I can respect, if not agree with. I believe the issue some have with MC, is that does the family connection justify a position on the board (or does it matter how shares were obtained, either inherited or bought?) and secondly was she effective last time.. my issue is not so much with MC, as Crouch uniting with other shareholders is no different form Lowes little army oof mates, but that quite rightly Lowe and Wilde were criticised for being vocal about the leadership during a sensitive time on teh pitch last seaosn, and yet CRouch and MC seem happy to repaet those very errors... its all political.... Saint Charlie Posted 20 November, 2012 Share Posted 20 November, 2012 Seems we have previous on Chairmen picking the team. Question is: - Is it a fundamental flaw with the club? or - Is it just more fun when there is banal, rumour based speculation flying about regarding on-field intervention from Chairman? Dig Dig Posted 20 November, 2012 Share Posted 20 November, 2012 They say a leopard never changes it's spots. I think some people will always look for rumours and are happy as pigs in **** when they get a chance to conspire and keep the flame stoked. Saint Charlie Posted 20 November, 2012 Share Posted 20 November, 2012 How can something be a fundamental flaw with a club when the owners, managers, coaches and players are the same? What aspect of 'clubness' would it be making this happen? The badge? The stadium? Rumours about chairman picking teams are always stupidly inconsistent. people believe it when results are bad, think it goes away when good. Unless there's any proof then you just have to trust the manager. If they say they're in charge then true or not, they'll be judged for decisions. If they aren't in charge really, they should leave and go somewhere they can be in control of their career. Could be the badge maybe.

It must be in our NDA.

manji Posted 20 November, 2012 Share Posted 20 November, 2012 Its normally the same people picking on the Chairmen too. Io be picked on The Chairman has to be assertive and not pander to fanontheboard types. For example "Mike" Wilde was popular because he claimed he stood in the Northam and gave favoured uber-fans free season tickets. Whereas Cortese has not the slightest interest in self appointed fans spokesman or "legends" and thier hangerson getting special treatment. Pah, Chairman being involved in signings is not a new thing, even Call Me Mike had a go! http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?4764-Jack-Boyle This comment made me chuckle... What a load of gash. Why is our chairman doing our scouting? Who the **** are Jersey Scottish? Wilde is a joker.
ART Posted 20 November, 2012 Share Posted 20 November, 2012 Never realised so many GRAVEDIGGERS were amongst the heart of this forums posters, then and currently. A sad reflection of the direction some people want to take the club. The direction is forward and upwards.

Indeed - bright future at Saints - I guess this thread shows the same type of discussions are recycled no matter what the current status of the club is.
