Well its coming down hard in the city centre now. I still think theres a good chance it will be called off later, especially with no undersoil heating.

Why do we need under-soil heating, we have never had a game called off for a frozen pitch and I doubt it will be frozen tonight, they will just cover the pitch prior to kick off and clear it without a problem.

Stop looking for excuses not to go ;)

Notice all these people who think it should go ahead live in Southampton. The majority of Saints supporters don't live in the city. Had Solent on this morning and it was taking 2 hours for people to drive along the A31 from Ringwood to the M27. The group of people that sit around me in the Kingsland all use this route. What's it going to be like at 10 o' clock tonight?

I always use my season ticket, but as my husband is away in Cologne and I would have to drive there and back at night on my own, he, understandably, doesn't want me to go.

Just announced another 2 accidents on the M27 and one on the M3.

Still, seeing as the club has already got my money, they don't worry if we can actually turn up or not.

From Cadnam to Southampton and the M27 the roads are clear, It's raining here now and the snow is thawing and being washed away. disappearing.

My cars and drive and the road outside was under about 4" of snow at 0900 this morning, without me doing anything the place is clear and the road/cars are just wet.

I can see your point about travelling if it freezes but I would expect the roads to be salted from early afternoon. Why don't you ring HCC road engineers.

Warwick, I know they are not in control of the weather, but with every broadcast telling people to only travel if they have to, why do you think that so many other games were already called off yesterday? It was obviously because of the safety for travelling fans. I'm sure the Emirates has under-soil heating, but they were worried about people travelling to the game.

No it's about the snow and ice around the ground. The Football Association don't give a toss about ice on the M4, in fact they don't particularly care if there are no spectators at all.

I went to work at 4 am this morning. I live at 2000 ft and work at over 4000. All my colleagues were there on time as usual.

It would be considered a bad do if you didn't turn up just because there's a couple of feet of snow on the ground.

Not true, at least 3 London games were cancelled yesterday not due to the pitch but for the fans safety. At least 2 of them had undersoil heating too.

Nah that's Arsenal all over for you, playing Tottenham on Sunday, want everybody to be fit and fresh.Probably went round the ground with buckets of ice to make sure the game was called off.

Is the airport still shut? Supposed to be flying down from manchester in 2 hours. Think i might not make it to game!

If it's the 18:00 it's saying 'delayed'

This one is saying 'on time'

It might be better to check with the airport direct. Southampton departures are leaving ok, from what I can see.

Just driven down M3, down the Avenue and into London Rd - no probs, little traffic on the roads and what snow there was on the pavements etc is melting fast. There is the occasional flurry of snow and sleet but then the sun comes out - don't think there will be too many problems unless you are using small country roads after 11pm.

Plus their captain is out, they're still reformatting after Beattie left as well.

LOL!!! Like saints ever benefit from things like that, if Sheff Utd are having a tough time you can almost guarantee they will break their duck against us. I expect we will get beaten tonight, which will numb the euphoria on here following back to back draws

Which flight number is it? According to Manchester BE7370 17:00 'on time' Southampton airport saying BE7370 arr 18:00 'delayed'

Its that 7370 flight. Be at airport in 10 min so i guess i'll find out then. Thanks for your help

Given the average age of our squad, it's probably for the best that this game is postponed.

They'll probably start throwing snowballs at each other and building snowmen.

I live on the east side of Southampton, snow has cleared from road -even side roads, sky is blue at the moment, even the ice in a bucket in the garden has thawed.

There is no frost forecast for tonight -even in the early hours long after fans are home.

Why would it not be played?

I'm 6 miles to the East of Salisbury, and it's been snowing solidly for the last 2 hours, nearly 4 hours on and off - looks like the bad weather is gradually heading Westwards, but too late for me.

I dont know bout down south, but in Northampton it was predicted to snow today/late last night, it hasnt, and the snow is melting, so roll on footy!

Like Birmingham where all the schools are closed because of snow they don't actually have.

What a bunch of big girl's blouses.

When I was a kid we went to school in all weathers, unless the bogs (outside) froze. Then we went home at 2 instead of 4

oi..DON'T BLAME THE SCHOOLS! Blame the health and safety monster that's engulfing our country! A child slipping on snow/ice on the playground- 20 years ago..there there never mind...now, 2009, "let's sue the school" for opening on a clearly dangerous day!

Back to the footy...I predict it will go ahead and that Saints will win!! (2: 1)

er wasnt this game scheduled when the fixtures were published in the summer? We cant decide to play it just because its cold and the ref certainly isnt going to call it off because Saints fans dont fancy it... so overall we have to take the rough with the smooth... sorry

Posted
Sorry, but with all these weather warnings and conditions generally awful the club can expect the lowest crowd ever tonight. Why oh why oh why.

Because it costs the club far more financially if the game is called off.
