VectisSaint Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Who? Details on the OS, Signed from Ujpest, who we played the other day 6'4" central defender
Arizona Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Well, we knocked 5 past him in a friendly, without Saganowski, so he can only be good. Welcome aboard!
Saintjersey Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 That is why we played them in a friendly then.
S4INT Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Some guy they obviously liked the look of from the behind-closed-doors friendly. I wont argue with no one out and improved strength in defence...
krissyboy31 Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Who? http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=11316 And there was us thinking some Hungarian was taking us over and the friendly was only to see this guy play!!
Andy_Porter Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Nice to see another defender come in. I wonder if he's can play full back as well.
saint hawk Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Who as long as he helps keeps us up i'm happy who scored in the friendly
sadoldgit Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 So no Killer for the rest of the season then, if at all....
VectisSaint Posted 2 February, 2009 Author Posted 2 February, 2009 So no Killer for the rest of the season then, if at all.... Think that was clear when he was appointed as coach
Arizona Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 It seems this guy has quite a few hard core fans... Let's see if anyone gets that reference...
Andy_Porter Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Is that the end of Perry then? Nope, the end of Lancashire. You can't expect 3 CB's to be enough for a season especially when one is an error prone youngster like Lancashire and the other is a 35 year old. I imagine Perry will get a rest for a bit after Tuesday, he's played lots of games in a row for someone his age.
S4INT Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Does Perry play LB? Indeed, I was wondering whether it might free up a CB to play at full back...
Saint Stimp Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 It seems this guy has quite a few hard core fans... Let's see if anyone gets that reference... Dude... Sweet... Zoltan!
Burnsie Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Think that was clear when he was appointed as coach I'd say it's been clear for a lot longer than that
saint_stevo Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Quite the pedigree- Huddersfield, Southend and Stevenage http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoltan_Liptak
whizzpop Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 By the looks of things he has already played in this country for Southend and Stevenage! Notice that wasn't mentioned on the OS! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zolt%C3%A1n_Lipt%C3%A1k
The Godfather Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Is that the end of Perry then? Not really. Lancashire's a liability and it gives us more options of perry or sjaes (spel) gets injured or suspended. Its a position we needed to get cover. We can always get another domestic loan signing from next week when the loan window re-opens.
InvictaSaint Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Dude... Sweet... Zoltan! Dude, what does mine say? Sweet! What does mine say?
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Elation of a signing (any signing!) slightly tempered by the news of his career elsewhere. Good luck though Zoltan!
um pahars Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Is that the end of Perry then? Looking at some of his stats, then I think he's more back up than waltzing straight in. Almost joined Huddersfield in Jan 2007, but eventually went to Southend that summer, but never made a start for them. He went to Stevenage on loan for a month at the back end of 2007, but only played twice (his last game against Salisbury in Dec 2007).

saintjay77 Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 It seems this guy has quite a few hard core fans... Let's see if anyone gets that reference... lol i just googled Zoltan to try to find some quotes and found a rather strange website about a guy called zoltan and his lab. There are some very strange people in this world. lol
saintjay77 Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Dude, what does mine say? Sweet! What does mine say? And theeeeeeeeeeen?
sadoldgit Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Quite the pedigree- Huddersfield, Southend and Stevenage http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoltan_Liptak He should feel really at home in the CCC then!

I like the Steve Tilson was "desperate to sign him" quote on Wiki. So desperate he never played a game as was shipped out to non league soon after! We can't half pick em!
sadoldgit Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Think that was clear when he was appointed as coach Yep, very sad but I am surprised that he manage what he did. Here's hoping he is a good a coach as he was player.
NickG Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 He sounds very good.... I mean his name -it sounds like a good strong CB!
VectisSaint Posted 2 February, 2009 Author Posted 2 February, 2009 He sounds very good.... I mean his name -it sounds like a good strong CB! Pity our shirts no longer have collars, otherwise there could be a song there somewhere...
NickG Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 The echo: Saints have made a last gasp swoop to sign Hungarian defender Zoltan Liptak. The 24-year-old 6ft 4in centre half has joined on loan until the end of the season from Ujpest FC but he won’t be considered until Saturday’s match at Watford. Liptak has previously had a loan spell at Stevenage and trials at Huddersfield and Southend. The transfer window has now closed and the club have confirmed that there have been no departures today. Wotte said: “He is a player we have been looking at for a short while and he impressed us in a recent behind closed doors friendly with how powerful he is in the air. “He is extremely composed on the ball and gives us more options in our defensive positions. “I am happy that we can add his quality to the team, and with his height and technical abilities I am positive he will fit in very well in this league. “After Jack Cork and Alex Pearce left the club and the injuries to Wayne Thomas and Michael Svensson I felt that it was the right thing to bring in a centre back in order to compete with Oliver Lancashire, Jan-Paul Saeijs and Chris Perry for the central defensive positions.” Liptak added: “I am very happy to join Southampton and hope to help the Club climb out of the relegation zone and up the league.”
Kaiser Soze Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Loaned out to Stevenage Borough??? God help us....
Secret Site Agent Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 It seems this guy has quite a few hard core fans... Let's see if anyone gets that reference... Dude, Sweet, Dude, Sweet, Dude, Sweet, Dude, Sweet, Dude, Sweet, Dude, Sweet, Dude, Sweet, Dude, Sweet, and for completeness, lets hope he brings his continuum transfuctioner with him!!
Minsk Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Hmmmmm, seeing as Wotte stated that he would only sign players 'better than we already have, and who can go straight into the team' (or words to effect) I sincerely hope this guy is better than his list of previous clubs would suggest. I mean: signed from a Hungarian 2nd div team, who we beat 5-2 without Saga and Surman (to name but 2); previously signed by League 1 Southend, but couldn't break into their team; loaned a conference team for a month, where he made just 2 appearances. So, either this guy is much better than he would appear or our other defenders are deemed as less than conference level players in Wotte's eyes. Good luck Zoltan, I hope you prove to be a success at SMS.

You also missed out the fact that we beat them with JP in charge on the day he had decided to quit and playing at home where he had a hoodoo for winning matches in SMS!
BotleySaint Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 I'm surprised no-one has posted yet: is he any good on Football Manager?

Mole Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Loaned out to Stevenage Borough??? God help us.... At least Lowe is planning for the future.

You need 2 to play in the TEAM; at least 4 in the SQUAD; IMO. Wotte said he would not bring in SQUAD players, only those good enough to walk into the TEAM.
Mole Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 I reckon we've twinned up with Ujpest. I'll be interested to see which is the feeder club. Let's see who we loan out to them over the coming weeks.
NickG Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 well done, found something to criticise club for
Ponty Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Oh come on. We haven't lost anyone and although our 'signing' may be a bit left-field at least it's an indicator that we're not quite as deep in the sh*t as some would have us believe.

We haven't lost anyone and although our 'signing' may be a bit left-field at least it's an indicator that we're not quite as deep in the sh*t as some would have us believe. If we hadnt signed a CB either in the window or in the Loan window and Perry got injured it would be another reason to have a protest for.

We've not lost anyone because all our players are sh1t and no one else wants them.
Saint Martini Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 So in short we lost Robertson, Cork and Pearce and we got Saeijs, Saga, Liptak and Molyneux in return. Not a bad January considering the predicament we are in.
saint lard Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 I will reserve judgment until i see him play. Good luck and welcome Zoltan.

Not a bad January considering the predicament we are in. You missed out the massive loss of Pekhart!!!!!!!!!! As you say (and as I posted on another thread), I think we've come out the other side of January stronger than we went into it, so that's a plus. But that's not to say that we have to be happy clappy on every signing, and so I think it is also fair to remain to be convinced of this signing who struggled to get a game for Stevenage!!!!!
Chez Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 brilliant news. I've been saying for donkeys that we need to replace Perry with a big solid centre back offering height, pace and ability on the ball. For all Perry's comittment in the tackle he is poor at set peices, slow on the turn and terrible on the ball. I hope this fella is decent.
aintforever Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Completely destroys the myth that we are going into administration. lets hope this current squad can keep us up now.
