Lets not forget tis quite a way to come from Sheffield, also consider the closures on the M25, M1 today, not to mention more snow due later. Or maybe the staff want to get the match played before Rupee gets back from his jolies..what wnaker.

Not just the roads, but the pedestrian access for the (maybe 12,000!) crowd. I remember a game at The Dell being postponed because the toilets were frozen!! The pitch was fine.

Minsk Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 I should hope the game is on. It makes me laugh how a bit of snow over there almost brings the country to a halt. Although the football season here obviously doesn't run through winter, we did have a lot of snow for a few days before Bate played Real Madrid here. The pitch was fine but the whole crowd stood all through the match because the seats were covered in about 5 inches of frozen snow (all the seats in the Dynamo stadium are open to the elements). Athough that was dangerous too as the concrete in front of the seats was like an ice-rink - they're not too bothered about health and safety here.
suewhistle Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Well, here in the Alps my team hasn't been able to play since just before Christmas: coincidentally just when my international clearance came through (this is amateur for-fun womens footie you understand!). Two weeks ago we arranged an internal friendly and by the end I had to chip and lob the ball to pass it as it was snowing and settling so heavily! As for being cold watching a footie match - there's no such thing. Wear your long johns, girlfriend's tights, base layer, fleeces, scarf, hat, gloves - no probs. You'll just get into a muck sweat in the pub afterwards.:-)

(I remember going to the Brizzel game in the back of a furniture removal van, talk about brass monkeys). There was a Boxing Day (12 noon KO) game against Chelsea at the Dell, that although not in the snow, was played on virtually a skating rink. A god-awful 0-0 draw if I remember correctly.

I just feel that after the protest on Saturday, the time has come for us to stage a mass boycott as the only way of shifting Lowe. We played well enough on Saturday, but didn't get a home win yet again. I've really reached the stage that I'm pis*ed of with shelling out £48 a game for me and my lad and not seeing a win for it. The club should have given discounted prices for matches after the Nottingham experiment, but show no sign of doing so. I've had enough of paying Premiership prices for watching the players of last season's youth team, although there are some of the better older players being given a game more recently. It's bloody cold out there and if it goes ahead, I'll listen to it on the radio. In the meantime, I'll hope that there will be some developing momentum for a mass boycott at our next home game, but I'm starting early.

Remember the Everton game when we won 3 v 0 at the Dell and the game was like a skating rink ? The Everton manager (was it Colin Lee ?) whinged like mad,yet the physio's never came on once.

Snowing its little heart out for the last 15 minutes here and im about 2 miles from the stadium. Wouldnt mind it being called off right now its a bit baltic up the back of block 30!!!!
