Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 ...has gone to Norwich on loan ffs.
St. Jason Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Bloody hell... Don't worry, we've still got Pulis though!
Chez Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Seijs and Davies. That would have been a terrific partnership. Never a hope of us being able to afford him seeing as we were more than happy to get rid in the first place.
um pahars Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 I think he's only just come back, so hopefully he will still be off the pace:smt022:smt022 Getting in all these loanees is no guarantee of improvement (just look at our rag tag bunch last summer), but Norwich have also picked up Gow and Killen who are rated.
bungle Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Yeh, he's been fit for so much of this season, it would have been great having him around picking up a pay cheque for doing nothing.
OldNick Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 what does it tell us? Its very confusing he did so well for us but cant get into the Stoke team. I dont wish him unwell but I do hope he does not help Norwich to our cost.
alpine_saint Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 ...has gone to Norwich on loan ffs. For cryin out loud.....
Andy_Porter Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Great player but i'd rather spend any money we do have on a right back or a rigth winger. I don't think a centre back is a priority.

I dont wish him unwell but I do hope he does not help Norwich to our cost. Similar to Chris Baird. To be honest I don't think any of the defenders we've had over the last couple of years have been any good, they just look good cos of the chaff we've had.
um pahars Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Yeh, he's been fit for so much of this season, it would have been great having him around picking up a pay cheque for doing nothing. My angst is more to do with the fact that he's strengthening a relegation rival, more than we should have been in for him.

Whitey Grandad Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 We sold him; we got the money; he's nothing to do with us any more.
Rory Posted 2 February, 2009 Posted 2 February, 2009 Imagine if they had signed Camara but not let Davies out on loan. How many ex-Saints would that be at Stoke?

Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 2 February, 2009 Author Posted 2 February, 2009 Thank god we didn't sign this guy in the summer. If it was down to the people on here to sign players we'd be awful. 12.10 Former Leeds defender Ian Harte has had his contract with Blackpool terminated by mutual consent.
madsent Posted 3 February, 2009 Posted 3 February, 2009 ...has gone to Norwich on loan ffs. From what I can work out, Davies never went to Norwich in the end. That might change in a few days when Football League clubs can bring in "emergency" loans however.
hamster Posted 3 February, 2009 Posted 3 February, 2009 (edited) Pericard Fuller Beattie Davies Delap Higgingbotham Camara Could have been eight if we'd tricked them into taking Pulis back. Edited 3 February, 2009 by hamster can't count
St_Tel49 Posted 3 February, 2009 Posted 3 February, 2009 Pericard Fuller Beattie Davies Delap Higgingbotham Camara Yes and according to received wisdom on here almost all of them were s**t
NickG Posted 3 February, 2009 Posted 3 February, 2009 Did this actually happen? Can't see anything on Stoke or Norwich's sites
once_bitterne Posted 3 February, 2009 Posted 3 February, 2009 Did this actually happen? Can't see anything on Stoke or Norwich's sites Nope. They seemed to have signed another defender on loan instead.
Dannyboy_Saint Posted 3 February, 2009 Posted 3 February, 2009 I dont think hes even played a game this season has he? We dodged a very expensive bullet by offloading him in the summer. A good defender and totally committed. Unfortunately that often led to him charging recklessly into tackles and getting injured.
saintwarwick Posted 3 February, 2009 Posted 3 February, 2009 My angst is more to do with the fact that he's strengthening a relegation rival, more than we should have been in for him. Of course we knew Davies would move to a relegation rival when we offloaded him to a premiership club If we sell a player to a premiership club that is something we cannot stop given the player wanting to prove himself at the highest level. Whether it proves to be good or bad is out of our hands once he leaves our club.
Colinjb Posted 3 February, 2009 Posted 3 February, 2009 There really should be a claus in transfers that stops this. Exactly the same happened to Cov City when Davenport joined Spurs, immediately he went on loan to West Ham. The only difference being that happened the next day, not 5 months on.

Whether it proves to be good or bad is out of our hands once he leaves our club. You seem to have misinterpreted the content and nature of my post. My post was in no way a dig at the Club (or anyone associated with it), I was merely commenting that one of our relegation rivals had appeared to have bolstered their defence (or not as the case may be) which may have a negative consequence on us. I would have made a similar comment had Watford managed to sign Curtis Davies from Villa on loan.
Carozzi Posted 3 February, 2009 Posted 3 February, 2009 can anyone confirm that Davies did actually join norwich cause as far as i am aware he didn't as as stoke didn't sign some of the players they wanted to, i have checked the norwich site, stoke site and also BBC it is only skysports that mentioned it
eelpie Posted 3 February, 2009 Posted 3 February, 2009 ...has gone to Norwich on loan ffs. Norwich have much bigger gates than we do since Lowe returned. That's why we can't afford him but they can.
OldNick Posted 3 February, 2009 Posted 3 February, 2009 Norwich have much bigger gates than we do since Lowe returned. That's why we can't afford him but they can.they had much bigger gates the season before as well.

ART Posted 3 February, 2009 Posted 3 February, 2009 If Pullis has decided to help out Norwich then we should tell that load of deadwood son of his Anthony he can F U C K Off back to daddy. If anything they could have made a gesture and let Davies come back to us on loan. All will hang on the salary Davies is asking for and therefore we'd stand no chance.

The coaches there reckon that Pulis can actually play. The problem has been he seems to be constantly injured. He had a hard time because he was the managers son, but they reckon he could do a job in the Championship. I suppose we should wait & see, but it does appear a very odd signing. Perhaps the bottom line would be best to follow, or do you want him to fail?

A good defender and totally committed. Unfortunately that often led to him charging recklessly into tackles and getting injured. Nice lad but selling him for an outrageous fee when he was crocked was probably the best bit of business we have ever done. Well done whoever set up the transfer. Games he has been fully fit for this season so far - 0! You can never say never but sadly I think this is one for the insurance company and to happen to one so young seems even more unfair than what has happened to killer.
Chez Posted 3 February, 2009 Posted 3 February, 2009 Norwich have much bigger gates than we do since Lowe returned. That's why we can't afford him but they can. but I thnk they charge bobbins for their season tickets so I wonder if they are that much better off? Mind you their rich board members have given gifts of interest free loans to clear their debt which has helped.

Mind you their rich board members have given gifts of interest free loans to clear their debt which has helped. But ours with the exception of Crouch won't do that. Somewhere I saw £13 for a ticket against our £24/28.

You can never say never but sadly I think this is one for the insurance company and to happen to one so young seems even more unfair than what has happened to killer. I think he has played for their first team a couple of times, probably as a sub though.Maybe when they got crapped on by Blackburn or in that sort of time zone. I see Stoke are trying to sign Kelly from Birmingham, he's a defender so perhaps Davies has been judged as not fit enough or not good enough.
madsent Posted 13 February, 2009 Posted 13 February, 2009 ...has gone to Norwich on loan ffs. Turns out he's gone to Preston and may be playing against us next week.
