Our OS have put up the match preview and made no comment at all about the weather and any potential postponement.

Good, that makes it down to Sheffield U to turn up.

Must say I'm amazed at the mess caused by a few inches of snow.

I mean anyone would think the UK is in the tropics.

it's snowing again here in Winchester

I reckon it'll all be gone by tomorrow though.

Hahaha snowing heavy again here. At least one and half foot deep in places. As a precaution I have even tuck a shovel inside the front door in case I need to dig myself out! lol

As for gone by tomorrow, not a chance here. If it is gone by Wednesday we will be lucky. :(

They just said on Badio 5 that transfers CAN be completed after the 5 p.m. deadline if the clubs concerned can show that any delay was due to the weather.

So we've got ages yet before our major signings need to be made :-)

Wonder if our cash flow situation makes us desperate for this one to go ahead...

Thought we were scheduled to go into admin in first week of Feb?

Well it's a good job it's not here tomorrow, looking out my office window and Bramall Lane is pretty white it must be said.

I agree with above though, we don;t half make a fuss in this country. The M1 is gritted isn't it? Not ideal driving conditions but if you're not an idiot it's not a problem.

So long as the pitch is ok and it's not like an ice rink, get it played.

Arsenal v Cardiff tomorrow was called off earlier today, they have under soil heating so that wasnt the problem, more to do with the safety of supporters arriving and travelling to the stadium

I went to Chelsea once for a midweek game. I picked my daughter up at Reading and drove through thunder and lightning and a continuous downpoor. We arrived at the ground, bought a programme and got to 10 feet from our seats when the steward told us that the game had been called off, which I knew would happen anyway. My sympathies go to those Saints fans who got to Newcastle a few years ago only for the match to be called off because the roads around the stadium were a 'bit icy'. Northern softies!

Wot a moaning old git Blackwell is in that piece - he want's to spend a few days with us if a long coach journey is his biggest problem

Oh, you should here their moaning fans as well!

There squad is quite good, about 4th or 5th best i'd say in the league. And that's where they are. And in the FAC 5th Round. But gawd didn't Blackwell get some abuse after they lost to Donny last week.

Mind due, we may have a clueless Dutchman in charge but they've had to have Bryan Robson in recent history - i think i'd prefer 20 more years of Wupert if that was the alternative!

I think that is totally irresponsible of SFC The pitch may be OK but what about those supporters who have to drive 20/30 miles or more.....I certainly shall not be taking the risk!

Don't be a wimp. That's nothing. Contact tyres are a must every winter anyway.Normal ones lose adherence below 7° C anyway.

Won't be a problem with the pitch but whether you want to make the drive is another matter. The A27 is almost impassable this morning according to Radio Solent.

Apparently the snow that settles on the covers over the pitch actually stops the pitch from freezing.

Man, I think I even bored myself with that last comment...

The suns out, not much fresh snow last night, fingers crossed it's game-on.

I live close to the ground and have to say there was a fresh dusting last night. Not loads but enough to make roads dodgy again.

Unless there is a bit of a thaw (and I cant see the OB and others going on a hunch) I reckon this will be off due to traffic and approach conditions.

They ought to call it off. It's absolutely chucking it down with snow here at the moment and all the reports on the radio are telling us not travel unless absolutely necessary. I read some time ago that only 40% of season ticket holders actually live in Southampton, so many of us have quite a long journey. I don't fancy getting out of the ground and back to car about 10pm and struggling home through a blizzard.

I'll be a bit upset if I've paid for a match that I can't go to just because I'm being sensible.

Anyone know (or can estimate) how much it would cost the club to call off the game at short notice? I'm guessing it would be nearer a 6 figure sum than 5?

who cares its a little dusting of snow. In any other country it would go ahead but in our over the top safety conscious country it probably wont :(

No they don't. That's why they have the winter break.

Who has their winter break in February?

Bundesliga have been back a week, but much of Northern Europe, Scandinavia, Russia etc. do not play in the winter. Ukraine are back on 28th February. So I'd say quite a few really!!

Okay then. The british climate is more akin to Russia and Scandanavia than Italy, Germany etc.

I think you'll find in those countries they don't so much have a winter's break but run their season February to November.
