Chez Posted 31 January, 2009 Posted 31 January, 2009 I think David Pleat was having a final look at Surman today with a view to a bid. Forrest were rumoured to have tried to get fellow left sided player Gary McSheffrey on loan with Anderson out for a while and Surman would fit their needs. I might be wrong of course as Forrest are also looking for a striker and perhaps were giving Saga or Scotland the once over.
slickmick Posted 31 January, 2009 Posted 31 January, 2009 Surman would have to be at least £1m, can't see forest having that sort of money.
Papa Shango Posted 31 January, 2009 Posted 31 January, 2009 Doubt they would have been too impressed when he was in midfield, although he did ok when he moved back after we went down to 10. Still a massively overrated player though.
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 31 January, 2009 Posted 31 January, 2009 What idiot would would sell or loan players to our relegation rivals? .............R
Window Cleaner Posted 31 January, 2009 Posted 31 January, 2009 What idiot would would sell or loan players to our relegation rivals? .............R Anyway the only players that will be going anywhere this window are BWP,Skacel and maybe just maybe Morgan ,apparently he is very unsettled here.Doubt it though, just the first 2 and that's it.
Weston Saint Posted 31 January, 2009 Posted 31 January, 2009 At 8pm last night I received a call from a friend who said a Reading insider confirmed he was in talks with them. I doubt he wold have played today if he was.
Chez Posted 31 January, 2009 Author Posted 31 January, 2009 Surman would have to be at least £1m, can't see forest having that sort of money. I think you will find Nigel Doughty has a fair few bob floating about.
southamptonfclegend Posted 31 January, 2009 Posted 31 January, 2009 What idiot would would sell or loan players to our relegation rivals? .............R aren't watford a relegation rival, Rasiak?
Benj540 Posted 31 January, 2009 Posted 31 January, 2009 I like Drew but he makes me mad with his charging to go for a ball in the air jumping then ducking away from it. It makes me mad, if you want to play you need to make the effort to win some balls in the air you muppet! Gillett trys to win balls in the air and hes smaller than Surman.
CB Fry Posted 31 January, 2009 Posted 31 January, 2009 aren't watford a relegation rival, Rasiak? Watford weren't expected to be our relegation rivals when we loaned Rasiak to them. Surman to Forest is probably unlikely at best. Reading would be a fair more logical destination.
Chez Posted 31 January, 2009 Author Posted 31 January, 2009 in the end if we need to shave a million or two off the overdraft it will depend who comes in with what offer as to where anyone goes.
sadoldgit Posted 31 January, 2009 Posted 31 January, 2009 Watford weren't expected to be our relegation rivals when we loaned Rasiak to them. Surman to Forest is probably unlikely at best. Reading would be a fair more logical destination. Apparently Reading are offereing a coaching job to JP too.

Reading would be a fair more logical destination. yes but the 'expectation' from the board was the play-offs, therefore surely they thought Watford would be there abouts...
CB Fry Posted 31 January, 2009 Posted 31 January, 2009 yes but the 'expectation' from the board was the play-offs, therefore surely they thought Watford would be there abouts... No, the expectation was that Watford have parachute money, and we didn't. Anyway, you can't have it both ways. Either Watford were a "relegation rival" when we let Rasiak go there, or they weren't. PS. The answer is they weren't.
Micky Posted 31 January, 2009 Posted 31 January, 2009 Surman to Forest - hardly a huge leap forward in his career is it? Why would he want to leave his home town club at such a time - beyond me.
Bailey Posted 31 January, 2009 Posted 31 January, 2009 I'd be surprised if the Surman to Forest rumour were true. Not only would it be a blow to us if he were to leave, but it would strengthen a relegation rival. Cannot see it happening. There is more chance of him going to Reading IMO.
Badger Posted 31 January, 2009 Posted 31 January, 2009 Biily Davies of course would only want to sign a thuggish brute, not a cultured footballer with promise.
Chez Posted 31 January, 2009 Author Posted 31 January, 2009 I'd be surprised if the Surman to Forest rumour were true. last game before the window closes - Forest looking for a left sided player and a striker, I think you can bet your bottom dollar Pleat was watching the main target to fill one of those roles. Swansea are not selling players, we certainly are.
Chez Posted 31 January, 2009 Author Posted 31 January, 2009 Biily Davies of course would only want to sign a thuggish brute, not a cultured footballer with promise. nice. On todays evidence it is Wotte that is looking to create a team of **** kickers.

Chez Posted 1 February, 2009 Author Posted 1 February, 2009 McGoldwreak? they certainly looked before and perhaps he has a better reputation outside SMS
Bailey Posted 1 February, 2009 Posted 1 February, 2009 Have just heard that Forest have lodged bids for Bristol City's Dele Adebola and Hibernian's Rob Jones. No mention of Surman though . . .
N/West Saint Posted 1 February, 2009 Posted 1 February, 2009 they certainly looked before and perhaps he has a better reputation outside SMS And from Notingham, county fan i believe.
Deano6 Posted 1 February, 2009 Posted 1 February, 2009 At 8pm last night I received a call from a friend who said a Reading insider confirmed he was in talks with them. Was the Reading insider a journalist then? Strange thing to call you up about.
CB Fry Posted 1 February, 2009 Posted 1 February, 2009 the point is they now are, and the expectation from the board was play-offs there either way i am right and you are wrong yes surely he can be recalled therefore now they are, he could be recalled Hang on, I didn't realise clubs had crystal balls when they arranged loans. When we loaned Rasiak to Watford they were not expected to be relegation rivals. And the other point is Watford had parachute cash and we didn't, we didn't have any cash. And the third point Saints saying we're "aiming for the playoffs" did not mean we couldn't loan any players out and in the case of Rasiak it looks like we had no financial choice but to. And being that Rasiak proved last season not to be good enough for the Prem at Bolton, a CCC club was his only likely destination. So stop being so silly. Watford were not "relegation rivals" when we loaned Rasiak to them. It is not in any way comparable to us selling or loaning Surman to Forest, which would be stupid.

AndyNorthernSaints Posted 1 February, 2009 Posted 1 February, 2009 Have just heard that Forest have lodged bids for Bristol City's Dele Adebola and Hibernian's Rob Jones. No mention of Surman though . . . Forest seem to be showing some ambition to avoid relegation by strengthening their team after getting in place an experienced and proven manager in Davies. Wish Saints would try this tactic :-(

solentstars Posted 1 February, 2009 Posted 1 February, 2009 Surman to Forest - hardly a huge leap forward in his career is it? Why would he want to leave his home town club at such a time - beyond me. i would say that is a step down for him, ican see him going to reading which is more suited to his game.
ottery st mary Posted 1 February, 2009 Posted 1 February, 2009 slightly different financial status' though. Their chairman cleared their massive debts, ours... Rupert will require at least another 3 years along with The Dutch revolution (and the 14 year old Tyro league players to progress) on the football pitch.
eelpie Posted 1 February, 2009 Posted 1 February, 2009 Another wonderful opportunity for Lowe to give one of our better players to a CCC rival, and a relegation rival too. So it will happen.
eelpie Posted 1 February, 2009 Posted 1 February, 2009 Forest seem to be showing some ambition to avoid relegation by strengthening their team after getting in place an experienced and proven manager in Davies. Wish Saints would try this tactic :-( Too revolutionary for us.
