Great turnout, there was an ounce of trepidation as I was walking up to bargate, I imagined me and three others being the only ones. Must have been at least 1000 there.

Most promising thing is - this is only the beginning. It started off as a facebook group and grew into this. There is much more to come, and most of them bigger if you ask me....

I don't believe that many people turned up. It's quite obvious that those pictures have been photoshop'd

LOL

I don't want to let you in on this, but there were only about 150 people there, all towing 10 mannequins each!!!

I got into all sorts of problems when two of mine fell over and their legs fell off.:rolleyes:

Well I can tell you from someone walking at the back the photo's don't actually do the turn out justice, I was really suprised to see how well the turn out was, what a great cross section of ages, and how well the fans behaved,

You had to be there to see the true extent of it. At one point when we were by the steel bridge, I looked back and the whole street all the way back to the underground pathway was full of Saints fans.

my feelings as well, thought i would be the oldest and look like a granddad at a youth club so the age range was a pleasant surprise.

next time , although can we walk slower.

looks like a bit about march coming up in a minute or two on SSN

Oh, by the way, I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but today is the last day of the duck hunting season ( seriously ), is this where Lowe was today and the 'Ski Trip' was just a cover-up to save people from having even more of a pop at him?

And wan't an apt day to have the 'duck off Lowe' banner out today! I hope the press take not of this, could make for a good story tommorow and saves them from doing their research!

Stu, you may be right, then again you might be quackers.

Great turnout, well done the kids that organised it, No Illingsworth at the front?

Illingsworth supports Lowe so thankfully he won't be speaking on our behalf.

Was a great turn out. The thing that made me proud is that it was peaceful and was a complete mix of people across the south. The last few weeks we have had forum warriors claiming only a few would turn up, only chavs will turn up, no media would be there and so on. So it sticks 2 fingers up at those people who feel they must have acomplished so much sitting on their ass behind their keyboard doing nothing.

The ironic thing is i spoke to one of the policeman who told me if he was not on duty he would of been marching along with us anyway.

The other thing people can be proud of is that the energy from the crowd helped raise the atmosphere in the ground. Which goes against those saying it would have a negative efect.

I was proud to stand with the rest of the marchers. Seeing the police and how well it was organised showed the doubting Thomases that we can get our message across and in a manner that befits our club.At the end the officer in charge was full of praise for the restraint shown by us and the peaceful way we behaved.

NOW PERHAPS MORE WILL BELIEVE THAT WE CAN DIRECT OUR APPEAL IN A WAY THAT DOES NOT HARM OUR TEAM.

I MUST THANK THE FEW SWANSEA SUPPORTERS WHO JOINED US IN GOOD HUMOUR ON THE WAY TO THE STADIUM.

NOW WE NEED TO PLAN THE NEXT MOVE IN OUR FIGHT.

The photoshop comment was ironic, mainly for the benefit of those that jump on anyone who disagrees with them as a PR plant....

Clearly a good turnout, representing a lot of discontent with Lowe/performance of the team. The true test would be a protest on a non-matchday though, as the phrase "numbers swelled as we approached the stadium" is a bit nonsensical, of course they would.

Well all those Lowe luvies and everyone else who mocked the march,i think you all have been proved very wrong.

Not only was the march well organised,it was also well attended as well.

There were at least 1000-2000 fans there of all ages and everyone was singing from the same hymn sheet-Lowe out!

This is just the first step.

Lowe go now before things get serious.

What? It was full of Saints fans on that particular stretch just before kick off?

My only criticism is not the motivation but the effect, todays decent performance and good entertainment will encourage fans and do more positive for the current regime.

As always its all about results, win in midweek and the protests will lose some momentum, poor performance and it will build again.

Well thought out protest tho, and without any negative impact on the club/team for which I applaude it. (good pr using the route into the ground as I expect there were several joining in who would have been walking there anyway!)

I must say I've never seen the whole of Old Northam Road full of Saints fans well over an hour before kick off.

I can't imagine that Hannover Buildings and through Hoglands Park at 1:30 is a hotbed of Saints fans on their way to the match:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

How many Lowe Luvvies do estimate you could muster for a pro Lowe demo?

Not sure if the protests will lose the momentum , the core of the protest is that Rupert and Michael are proven failures and the people there today CAN distinguish between supporting the team to stay up AND hounding the Lowe gang (all of them) out

Well done to all those who attended, really good stuff.

I hope you can keep the pressure on as I can't see Lowe life going without a big fight.

Still boycotting myself but going to Watford next Sat.

Up the Saints - f**k off Lowe.

I hear they are planning another march for the next home game after Tuesday?

Nothing decided yet, but I doubt anything will happen tuesday. Too late for most people, especially me (I have to get a train back to Weymouth).

A long time to organise something bigger and better for the Preston game though.

I spoke to one of the nippers who helped organise todays march. He was in two minds because he was worried that we wouldnt get the same numbers as we did today. I said to him to think long and hard because, in my mind, I think there will be. He said he would consider it.

Thanks 70's Mike - you added about 8 years to my age!

Was interviewed by Solent while walking across park, having started near the back of the march (my husband had the WANTED - CHAIRMAN banner) I was actually stranded 200 yards behind the four coppers at the back. Suggest (if there's a) next time you all take a slower pace. I wasn't the only one singled out for interview - but the others were more able than I was to catch up.

Also, bumped into several people who'd arrived at the Bargate to find the march had left already - so would also suggest it leaves maybe five minutes late to get the stragglers on board?

Was also interviewed by Gabriel Clark - will have to see if the camera lies if they have a snip of me on tomorrow? I jest.

Please be aware that Solent (Julian Clegg) Monday morning is covering the protest at the same time that Leon and Dave Merrington were on last Monday - possibly 8.30 onwards? And Frannie is going to be on the programme. Was told this by the producer of the JC programme after the interview.

Well done Connor, hope you sleep better tonight......

No I meant the next home game (not including Tuesday.)

I can say hand on heart that I was very proud to be part of such a well run protest. The atmosphere was good and the message loud and clear. The police were extremely helpful and the officer in charge took the time to talk to us. The escort was organised and the protest very peaceful. The chanting was loud but refrained from some of the abusive chants we have in our armoury. There was a good variety of age groups and a lot of parents with their kids.

The behaviour of the protesters was impeccable. All police directions were followed without murmer. In between the chanting and singing their was a good feeling of cameraderie. The size of the protest was in itself justification of the organisers hopes. My 14yo daughter felt unsure at first but grew to enjoy the event.

Reporting home to her who must be obeyed I was surprised to learn that if something else is planned we would be taking the whole family. She enjoyed the short bit of film shown by the echo and sky.

We also showed that, as I had suggested would happen, the protesters finished the job at hand with no OTT abuse and then entered the stadium to give the team their full support.

SO YES I AM REALLY PLEASED THAT I GOT OFF MY DERRIER AND DID SOMETHING. IT REMAINS TO BE SEEN WHAT WE WILL DO NEXT BUT I AM READY TO CONTINUE AND I THINK TODAYS PERFORMANCE WILL HELP MAKE US STRONGER.

I think now is the time to plan the next move. Perhaps a new thread could be used to gather ideas whilst the events from today are still clear in our supporters eyes. We have done what we set out to do and told the board enough is enough. Their failure to listen must have response if needed. Hopefully the board will see the determination we have and will have noted that we can organise ourselves to act swiftly. Tuesday is to soon but we need to have a plan for the next home game.

Fair play to the Swansea fans who clapped us as we marched past their coaches - they've been in the same position as us and survived..and great support in the ground where (as promised) the fans left all the animosity towards the board outside the ground. Extra kudos for Saints fans were from the Swansea fans I spoke to on the train back who said that our support was a million times better than than the Pompey fans they played in the cup.

great post and matches my sentiments exactely. by all means start a thread on here and get some ideas going, but more than that get on facebook and join the group, they started it, and with the great publicity we should get from this the numbers will grow, and impact of any future events will be greater!

p.s sorry mods if you dont like the mention to facebook, but its for a good cause!:D

Credit to everyone for turning up and fair play to the organisers.

Good to hear that the protest was peaceful too.

Here's hoping Lowe will FINALLY start to get the message and duck off. ;)

will all have to wear name badges next time, talking about badges i noticed some were wearing "Lowe Out Badges" and teeshirts

anyone know where i can get one

I bought mine off an old bloke (sorry if you post here!) when at the Bargate. It was £1. I was really impressed by some of the effort some had gone to today.

skysports news just said that lowe wasnt there, still on his hols

Which we all knew anyway. Even for the 'Emergency Meeting' which took place last week, Lowe didn't return for it.

the march and the numbers that turned up far exceeded my expectations. The police had to close all roads in and around St Marys and I wonder when there was such a large scale protest in the streets of Southampton. Great humour, lots of kids and a protest brilliantly made and organised. (Thanks for my Rupert badge btw only 250 printed so it will be valuable soon.)

I think the demo helped frustrations because during the game the support was superb.

Today I was proud to be a Saints fan - reading this thread has been great (except Manji).
