Thedelldays Posted 31 January, 2009 Share Posted 31 January, 2009 probably not but the recent protests about 'british jobs for british people' have struck a chord...and will no doubt follow suit in similar circumstances across the EU.. add that to Ireland contemplating withdrawing from the Euro altogther.. with these things, it only takes one to jump before a couple of others follow.. They'd have to ratify the Lisbon treaty first. At the moment there is no possibility of leaving the EU. If the UK want to withdraw good luck to them, in the end that will mean less employment overal. The people of Ireland wanting to leave doesn't really matter so much. Besides that the economic crisis seems to have swung the opinion of Ireland in favour of the Lisbon treaty (58% in favour now).
