Saints v Fulham - Match Thread

No next match thread yet…..

I have a positive feeling about this match and think that we will get at least a draw, maybe a win. Fulham have lost 4 out of their last 6 but they haven’t played anyone as easy as us 😂

Champions League and Europa places have pulled away from them but Europe is still in touching distance as they only need to finish eighth for the Conference League. However, the prospect of Molde and St. Gallen don’t seem to be inspiring them with three losses in their last four. I think we can nick something from this, if only so the Leicester game isn’t a “avoid becoming the joint-worst PL team ever” six-pointer.

A good friend has offered me a ticket to this one and I’ve reluctantly accepted it. 😉 It’s been quite sometime since I last attended SMS and I’m looking forward to the atmosphere again - hopefully we’ll pick up at least a point, but I’m not sure we’ve got the quality to match them. Just hope we don’t sit back for a 0-0.

Unbeaten against them this season.

Hopefully will be a bit more positive from the stands for this one.

Cmon you Saints - unchanged?

Rambo; KWP Stephens Bednarek THB Manning; Ugo Downes; Fernandes Sulemana; Shite Paul

Weather meant to be nice (ish)...

It’s still galling to think that we used to think that when smaller clubs like Fulham Palace Brentford and Bournemouth came calling we would routinely expect to win, not be classed as a minnow

Have you not watched the league games he's overseen so far this season....?!

Slightly off topic, but can anyone let me know draught lagers are available in the Northam Fan Zone? Haven't had a beer there yet, but might change that tomorrow.

Kingfisher, Guinness, Sapporo and there's an IPA but I can't remember the name

I fully believe that the last minute goal at West Ham was a turning point in our season, and with Rusk at the helm, ably assisted by Nivea we wil now start our climb up the table.

Foam hands at the ready, can't wait for tomorrow.

That goes without saying

Another excellent press conference from Rusk. I have no clue how far this guy can go in the game but you can't help but warm to him.

I think we can get a draw. But if lose then a big positive is it may help stop the team with no rivals getting into Europe. Pompey your rivals are Poole Town not Saints.

If Bournemouth get into Europe and lose a lot of their best players then they will really struggle in the league next season I think.

He is very likeable and it’s refreshing to have someone in charge who just seems fairly normal. No crying on the touch line, or getting snarky with reporters whilst running your hand through you hair, or reminiscing about the Welsh girl you could have married whilst training to be the fittest man who has EVER lived.

The likes of Bournemouth and Brighton have been able to spend the transfer money wisely and actually maintained/improved the strength of their squads.

They may both end up in the same situation as Saints did when they received decent money from the sale of Van Dyke/Mane etc and wasted it on crap buys.

Bournemouth will. They cannot maintain what they are currently doing on gates of 10-11,000. The big boys will, as they did with us and many others, come along and take their best players, probably the manager as well, and that'll be that.......but hey, nobody seems to care about the little guy punching above their weight. If the three promoted teams this season go back down again next then surely even the hard of thinking who want to ignore it will have to acknoweldge that the draw bridge to the Premier League has well and truly been pulled up.

They've just confirmed yesterday that they bought back the ground so will now push on with redevelopment. They're hoping to have 20,000 in around two years, then up to 23,000. Still very small by PL standards but improving their punching weight, and also just as they move into new state-of-the-art training facilities. Still a big ask to keep their momentum, particularly over the next 24 months but they do appear to have a very good, and keen, owner.

But we couldn't sustain it on gates of 32,000 so it's inevitable the likes of them, Brentford, Brighton, Fulham, Palace, etc. are going hit tough times they'll need to survive.

Expecting some new-found heart in the side today, think it will end all-square but a more positive end to the season is needed going into the summer.

They have announced their intention to increase capacity to 20k and then 23k.

Interesting or nothing but my eyebrow briefly raised to hear, apparently, certain people enquiring what it’s like living in Soton.

SaintsWeb tradition is that I now throw abuse at your eyebrow for being an ITK tease.

Then follow it up, by questioning the source of your eyebrow's claims, and disparage gossip it picked up while being waxed at a salon. 🙂

Thank you Holmes. Thing is my legs never been so hair free so I’m certainly returning. 😂🦵
My ITK credentials if I even need to say, are no better than average join the dots best guess logic I’m afraid despite my pretty tenuous inside contacts so it’s entirely possible I have made it up or totally misunderstood.

At any rate I have a feeling deckchairs are out for Fulham. Great chance to score a goals and do a home win thing. Think Rusk and Adam will be leading a chorus line bow at full time to the Northam. ( that was also in my imagination/dream too in case anybody has misunderstood me). Anyhow just the possibility has left me feeling more 4/10 we will not lose than 10/10we will lose.

Kings day in Netherlands today so going to be joining the entire country by drinking in the sun I think so may miss the match.

This almost guarantees a 6-0 win.

You're welcome.

Yes. We all knew about it, because it was posted already.

Do read the threads. Matt, even in your haste to satisfy your stadium related fetish.

I'd not have bothered, but you're being an idiot elsewhere already today, after your embarrassment in the Lounge yesterday.

Can someone please confirm if this will make their ground bigger than the Bernabéu?

We're going to win today!

Just walked over the Roman bridge in Tavira (Portugal) and the accordion player is playing "oh when the Saints!"

The accordion player is only there, playing that, to give Saints fans a send off as they jump off the bridge. 🙂

Do read the threads.

1) No one in this thread had posted that link. The link was relevant to a post in this thread that it was replying to.

2) Do you read every single new post in every thread before making your next post each time?

3) "We all knew about it"

Even if your answer to 2 is yes, do you really believe everyone else does?

4) Had anyone else on this forum made that post, would you reply to it? I guess you will come up with a reason why only me, but 1 to 3 shows why you are wrong.

1) Utterly predictable. Never mind that the same information has been given. If you can say the same thing, from another source, you think it's breaking news. You've been peddling that nonsense for any number of transfer threads, where you just *had* to be seen to give the news. Like a man-child on X (sorry, you'd call it twitter), you've given up in a sulk when others kept getting in ahead of you.

2) As I'm here most days, yes, I generally do. There's not that much to catch up on, if visits are regular. If it's a discussion, then definitely, as it's just courtesy to the other posters, to know their views. But then, I don't set out to undercut other posters.

Maybe so but it’s hardly huge is it? Anyway they struggle to get a full house as it is, where are the extra 7-8,000 coming from?

They claim to have 15,000 people on a waiting list for a season ticket.
