EssEffCee Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Thought it'd be interesting to see how many people plan on renewing their ST's next year. I suspect this season has broken many fans and we'll see quite a sharp drop from last season especially as prices will be higher than then. Although I reckon the matches against the skates might make some people's mind up. Personally I'll be renewing regardless. Mainly for away game reasons but also because next season will undoubtedly be much more enjoyable than this one. Am tempted to bin the Northam off though and move to the Chapel...

It's a yes from me as I prefer the championship anyway Hopefully not many season tickets sold either side of the away end so loads of lads can buy there for the skates game, recreate an Itchen North style for one off 1
miserableoldgit Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Probably a yes......I have had one for 50 years, although it hasn't had much use this season.....combination of health reasons and it being a sh1tshow. 1
Whitey Grandad Posted April 8 Posted April 8 As I’ve said before, my grandson won’t be able to go so I have also decided not to renew. I’m looking forward to having other options next season. 1
spyinthesky Posted April 8 Posted April 8 I will be renewing but have been a season ticket holder for many years and have had the same seat in the Itchen since St Marys opened although I am the only one of the five of us who sat together when the stadium opened. Sad to say that three of the group are not with us any more. 3
Barton Saint Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Going to move over to the Itchen corner to get in the sunshine
revolution saint Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Yep, almost certainly renewing my ST and actually looking forward to next season. Championship is a great division and much more fun. 3
franniesTache Posted April 9 Posted April 9 (edited) Yup i'll be renewing, think this will be 42nd consecutive season of going to watch saints so fuck knows what i'd do if i didn't. That said i'd rather shave my bollocks with a rusty angle grinder than spend another season in the northam wall so will definitely be moving Edited April 9 by franniesTache
beatlesaint Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Need to think about it. Probably dependant on the manager and the type of player we bring in cos I really dont want to watch most of these twats trot around anymore. 1
Lord Duckhunter Posted April 9 Posted April 9 I’ll be renewing as the football is only half of it. If being disappointed, watching over paid players mincing about, and losing regularly, were reasons not to go, I’d have stopped years ago. I don’t go away much nowadays as I watch my lad’s Wessex league side, so home games & 3 or 4 aways does me fine. 1
ant Posted April 9 Posted April 9 On one hand, I'd be lost without it. On the other, this is the 3rd or 4th consecutive renewal where I've seriously questioned it. And do I really want to hand SR more of my hard-earned to squander? Hmm.
die Mannyschaft Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Yes. Championship more entertaining and we have a chance to win games. Another play off final will do nicely.
Oldandtired Posted April 9 Posted April 9 I don’t know. I might wait and be a glory hunter, get a half season if they’re doing well. I’m not overly bothered about a wet Tues evening in December watching us, 11th, vs Stoke, 13th, or something tbh, especially if some form of var is introduced. I’ve watched Saints for 65 odd years now and can honestly say that this season has put me off a bit. Whether it’s just me getting too old or what I don’t know but I’m not too sure I’m that bothered anymore. 2 1
Willo of Whiteley Posted April 9 Posted April 9 I can imagine season tickets will be a similar price to last season with the spin of “you get four extra games”.
Tommy Posted April 9 Posted April 9 We could be in league two and I’d renew for myself and the lad, if you only want to support the team in the prem you are part of the problem 5 1 2

Wade Garrett Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Definitely. We’ve got Spors pulling the strings now, not that’s phoney prick Rasmus. I’m looking forward to a team of players that actually play for the shirt and a manager that thinks more about winning games instead of style of play. We are going to absolutely destroy the Championship next year. Not missing that. 2 1

I have been going since 67 and am only renewing if I can afford it not what division we are in. part of what problem that the recruitment has been utter shit? Edited April 9 by Give it to Ron 1

LGTL Posted Thursday at 16:22 Posted Thursday at 16:22 Yes, but only for access to the aways as usual. With the extra bonus of Fratton looking likely of course.

I’ve been a season ticket holder since 1979 and apart from the Branfoot era I have never been as fed up with watching Saints as I have been this season. It’s got fuck all to do with what league the club are in, the “prem” only supporters don’t tend to become season ticket holders by and large ! 4
whelk Posted Sunday at 13:12 Posted Sunday at 13:12 (edited) Had ST for last 15 odd years. Although this season was the one I missed most games. As others said Championship much better and if was just for watching games would have sacked off years ago. Catching up with mates in pub before and often after is reason for renewal Edited Sunday at 13:12 by whelk 3

macca155 Posted Sunday at 14:54 Posted Sunday at 14:54 Probably will, I've had a season ticket since the early 90s. Hard to envisage a life without one. Having said that motivating myself to go has been difficult this year. Football is a family event for us so other factors in play. What might sway me is the ridiculous KO times. Lots of non 3pm games for Saints next year. The early Saturday KO are going to be particularly awkward. See what the fixture list throws up I suppose. Problem is I can be all billy big bollocks about not renewing, but I know I am pathetic and shallow. A new manager and some player movement, will have me all enthusiastic until August. 2
Wiggles31 Posted Sunday at 15:00 Posted Sunday at 15:00 After the disaster of this season I want to renew just to lift my spirits. We could come 13th next season and it would still be 10 times better than this season. Plus now having a little one it’s priceless time to have a few beers with the old man. 2
ecuk268 Posted Sunday at 16:29 Posted Sunday at 16:29 As long as the price doesn't go up, I'll be renewing. My 10-year old grandson will also be getting his first season ticket (does that count as child abuse)? I read this article which says that the big clubs are looking to reduce the number of season ticket holders in favour of "tourists". Apparently, season ticket holders tend to turn up and watch the game without spending much, whereas the tourists buy the over-priced stuff in the club shops. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/apr/11/a-parasitical-business-model-football-ticket-resellers-squeeze-out-loyal-supporters?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other 1
Sergei Gotsmanov Posted Sunday at 17:24 Posted Sunday at 17:24 It never gets mentioned that until the Palace game we have consistently filled St Marys this season whilst watching the team register the worst results in Premier league history. If that had been Newcastle 'its like a religion' United or Manchester Citeh they would be fawning over this. Like most other Saints fans I will be renewing. 2

Sir Ralph Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago (edited) Got a call from the ticket office asking if I wanted to use my credit from this season. The chap was very nice so in a polite way I explained my disappointment that the players were a poor example of work ethic for my children so didn’t want them to be exposed to bad influences hence regrettably I was unable to attend any further matches for the rest of the season. anyway he said pricing for next season was likely to be made public end of this month. Edited 13 hours ago by Sir Ralph 2 1
Pamplemousse Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Yeah I will because I have nothing better to do on Saturdays. Quite a lot of our games won't be at 3pm on a Saturday because of the EFL TV deal so people should bear that in mind when renewing - expect a lot of 12.30 kick offs. 3
LeBizzier69 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago My team through thick and thin so absolutely. The shit times make the good times all the sweeter, regardless of the wait. 1
Jeremy Corbyn Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Wonder how many people will renew this season but decide not to if we get promoted back. Personally can see the appeal of the championship but you're a more loyal man than me to pay £500 to watch us get battered every week.

CSA96 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) I'm not, but it's not to do with performances. I'm one of those who for better or worse goes for thick and thin, and I'd have renewed as a result, but the new EFL TV deal meaning far fewer 3pm KOs means I'll probably give it a miss. Too much travel involved for more 12.30pm and 7.45pm KOs next season compared to the previous EFL deals. I had a look at Leeds' scheduling this season, as one of the bigger/top end sides of the league and they were almost at a 40/30/30 split on 3pm vs 12.30pm vs 7.45pm Edited 10 hours ago by CSA96

I had a look at Leeds' scheduling this season, as one of the bigger/top end sides of the league and they were almost at a 40/30/30 split on 3pm vs 12.30pm vs 7.45pm Probably worth also comparing with Sheffield United and Burnley, tbf - Leeds will always be a big draw for Sky because they know it's a guaranteed viewing audience. Worth noting there have been 9 midweek rounds where everyone has played either Tuesday or Wednesday (might have been one or two rogue Thursdays thrown in there too), plus there's 2 on Good Friday/Easter Monday coming up, and Christmas featured Boxing Day, plus everyone playing on Sunday 29th and New Year's Day (a Wednesday), and the final day where everyone is kicking off at 12:30. So that's 15 games of the 46 that are already definitely not Saturday 3pm, so I'd discount those from the "look how many games get moved for TV" discussion. From the remaining 31, Sheffield United appear to have had 7 moved to a Friday night (predominantly big games - opening night, Hull home and away, Leeds, Sunderland, Coventry), surprisingly only 3 Saturday 12:30s, 4 Sundays (the two Sheffield derbies at 12:30, West Brom and Watford 3pm) and a single Monday night (Leeds). So that's 16 Saturday 3pm games. Burnley have had a few more moved, with only 11 Saturday 3pms - 8 Saturday 12:30s, 4 Friday nights, 2 Monday nights and 3 Sundays - but looks like they might have had a few games postponed during the season which have had to be played midweek. Compare this to last season for us, obviously on the old TV deal: 16 non-Saturday games in the original schedule, leaving 30 that were originally Saturday 3pm. 22 of those remained, with 5 moved to Saturday lunchtime and 3 to Friday night. We obviously had more games televised than that, but these were midweeks where games were either played Tuesday or Wednesday anyway, over Christmas on days where everyone played the same day and over Easter where everyone played Friday and Monday. By my calculation, we had 17 games televised out of our 46.

Perhaps misguided on my part re: TV picks vs general EFL scheduling under the new arrangement - but that's home and aways together and would be interesting to see home-specific breakdowns for the more high-profile clubs in the league I'd say with the amount of midweek games and with the last trains out of Southampton Central heading for London at 10pm (assuming the service actually runs as it should...) it becomes increasingly difficult to justify a ST if you're someone who lives in or north of London. Unless you're prepared to just drive in the evening rush hour and then back up late at night repeatedly, or shell out on overnight stays and shuffle work/personal life around repeatedly. And with those midday KOs, come even earlier starts for those who need to travel down. Respect to those who still want to do it, I was happy to do so on a few occasions a couple of years ago but it adds up fast I'm more likely to try and pick and choose some home games when possible, and maybe scrape away tickets here and there. Of course, there is also the new provision where basically all EFL games will be available to watch in decent quality either via Sky's new EFL deal or... elsewhere
Stud mark of doom Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Definitely yes for me. Next season will be lots better - I think we’ll be up near the top challenging to return to the ‘promised land’. Will be a more difficult decision the following year if we go up - especially if the the promoted teams all come down, with a record low number of points for the third successive year - and we’ll be facing 17 teams who have been in the prem for 5+ years, with a tiny chance of matching the 17th placed team (probably Man United).
