The expected result really. Could have been 5 or 6. So 3 isn't bad. The whole season now rests on beating Leicester to avoid the Derby record. No other game matters.

The minute dibling and Smallbone come on you loose the game.. both absolutely shite. That’s as shit as anything we saw under juric or Martin. 5 at the back shit show.. we needed an extra midfielder but nobody could see it, we just allowed villa to stroll around st Mary’s. Clubs a complete fuck up… owners a prick who’s been taken for a ride by sports republic.

Rusk needs to ban player movie night on Fridays.

We'd have won that, but many of our players lost focus during the game trying to understand the ending to Zoolander.

Forget not getting out of second gear, Villa didn't even need to start the engine to win that.

Points totals aside i can't see how this side aren't the worst in PL history.

Spineless, useless bunch of no hopers, more than likely to be where Luton are now, next season. Cannot believe how these owners have let it get as bad as this. Totally sick and hurt how the club is at this present time. Bednarek and Stephens must be two of the worst centre backs to ever play for the club and yes I do remember Darren Powell and Scott Marshall, amongst others.

There’s been nothing I’ve seen since last October that suggested to me that this squad has what it takes to beat Derbys record. I still think we have zero more points in us and today has suggested nothing different. 

Shite players playing shite tactics taught by sub-standard coaches. Not to mention fitness coaches that have dozed off and refuse to wake up.

Very worrying. Yes, we’re already down but we don’t look good enough for the Championship. I can’t see us returning to the Prem anytime soon. Call me a pessimist but so much damage has been caused to this club this season.

Bar coming up with marketing straplines, memes about pigeons and lots of hipster crap from Ankerson. Before that it was old style bullshit from Reed and Wilson. Buying cheap crap after selling any quality.

No bullshit about balancing the books in the summer, break the Neves transfer record and have a good net spend on top of what we sell. Clear all of Rasmus’s crap out. The memories of this season can be moved on quite quickly if that happens but Spors needs to be Dragan’s case and shit on Rasmus’s interference. We need new keeper, new CB, new RB, new LB, 2x DMCs, AMC, 2 new wingers with express pace and a striker. And they all need to better than anything else on offer in the league.

Personally I’d work out who will be here next season, play them and let the others go on gardening leave, filling the voids with the youth team. It makes no difference now and what’s been served up this season is disgraceful and the players and management should be ashamed.

A bunch of kids getting annihilated by Arsenal and Man City isn't any use to anyone, especially to those young players.

sigh.  I haven't got any energy left to moan. Villa are a good side and throwing men forward would have been folly, but defending deep and doing little with the ball isnt fun to watch. At least Leicester scored, so we wont be the ones that get them out of that funk.

I think you're right, if we do manage to survive next season, we will quickly become a mid table championship outfit like many other ex prem teams.  Fixing this mess is going to take somebody like Markus to rock up again, and I really can't see that happening anytime soon with this mess.

You do know the Championship is a lot worse than the PL? No reason at all to think we can’t be fighting for promotion next season.

We really dont deserve to pick up another point this season and it will be fitting that we break Derby's record because we are watching the worst PL team ever....by some distance too.

Couldnt care less....we already have two 9-0s under our belt and we've been relegated with 7 games to go. Whats another shite record to add to the list. For those fans worrying about it, who cares about the ridicule or what other fans think

it's going to take a manager that is able to inspire a huge turnaround. I never warmed to Martin, but respected fully how he turned the sinking ship around. \whoever is next will need to be able to sell a 'project' (yes I know how that sounds) and get players pulling in the same direction. It can be done. wont be easy though.

I think you have to field 11 players. Sincerely hope less than 11 of the current players are here next season.

'Fighting' is not a trait I have seen in any of the players this season, you 'fight' to avoid relegation, you 'fight' to avoid the ultimate embarrassment of being the worst team ever.  We showed no 'fight' at all,  yet you think they'll 'fight' for promotion. Sorry, but I'm going to have to disagree, most of these players very, very easily have the 'fight' knocked out of them.

Embarrassing again. Equally embarrassing as the woman in the end of block 44 ,row H with her son I presume, persecuting two older chaps she claims were villa fans, sat 6 rows away without any proof, who had not celebrated anything or done anything except one had a striped M and S faded shirt vaguely villa colours. Then starting on the steward and anyone else. Silly, angry lady.

What a miserable, hopeless, feckless bunch of players. A talent pool more shallow than an oasis. They do not deserve the riches they earn and have collectively brought lasting shame to this football club. Every game we see the same feeble effort and lack of even the most basic requirements. They must feel such shame as yet another match slips by and they are beaten so easily. What on earth do they do in training? It's a disgrace.

Next season will be a fresh start with a new manager, new signings and - most importantly - new, much worse opponents. There’s no reason not to think we’ll be solidly in playoff contention at the very least. We had all this hysteria about dropping straight through to League 1 two years ago, nothing of the sort happened.

Deserved to lose but we gifted Villa the game.  Dibling gives the ball away and we concede a penalty to the resulting counter-attack, with Bednarek sliding to block the attacker, who slows down and hangs in a leg to touch Bednarek and fall down.  Fine save.  Then Dibling gives the ball away again and they score.  Smallbone gives Rogers acres of space in front of our penalty area and they score.   Stephens goes to ground when too far away from the ball and makes a double movement to make sure the ref gives a second penalty.  Another fine save but no defender thinks to run back and clear the ball.  Masters of our own misfortune.  
 

Ramsdale and Fernandes the only ones to emerge with any credit and even Fernandes gave the ball away too many times.  Good game plan but not enough strength in DM to make it a goalless draw and not enough potency in attack to score.  Archer and Fernandes at least tested the keeper.  We seemed to give up on the rough stuff in the second half, except for one memorable moment from Stephens; a shame because it showed that we still have some fight left in us.  Sadly, we are no better than well adrift of all the other teams in the league.  Pathetic indeed.

Still two more points needed.  Let’s hope Leicester bring back Vestergard from the cold when we play them.

Same as usual really, we're just way, way, way too far off these teams. We are a mid-table/lower Championship side trying to compete with a Champions League PL outfit, it's just not possible.

I really don't want to see 90% of these lot in the 11 next season, or the squad. I can't stand the sight of most of this lot. Bednarek/Stephens/Onuachu/Lesley/Smallbone/Sulemana, just trash heap players. At least Lesley will be going back to Chelsea, one of the few positives.

We need one heck of a flush in the summer, if we don't we'll struggle to make Top half of the Championship, that's how little I rate the players we have.

I think you're looking at it through rose tints, I agree, the championship is a much lower standard, but we're not even at that standard, evidenced by our 'performances' this season.  Burnley came and beat us at SMS, we caused them no problems at all. What very little talent we have will go before next season, and let's be honest our recruitment of players over the last half dozen years has been woeful.

Can’t be arsed having this argument. I can only assume this kind of dramatic hyperbole is cathartic to some people because there’s no way you think the same thing about Leicester and Ipswich.

Exactly this. When we went down two years ago we had the whole "we'll not be back for a while...". With a new manager and some good recruitment (we're due a good window arent we?), theres no reason why we wont be in a much better position in 12 months. Those making the big decisions at the club need to stop pissing around

The refresh paid dividends. Juric would have lost that one 5-0 and we would have had no shots on target.

Hopefully we can all now agree it makes fuck all difference who the manager is.

Would love to but I think he’ll be back up as I suspect McCarthy might decide that he doesn’t fancy another Champ season on the bench.

Unless the new manager is Mr Magoo, it’s very likely Ramsdale gets replaced.
