It was all a bit weird. The whole team came over and started clapping at us and they wouldn't go away. A few gave their shirts to kids which is always a good touch, but you did think what are they doing? I did laugh, though, at the nods who waited for them to start walking away and then shouted 'you're not fit to wear the shirt'.

Reset coming, clear out of players, excitement for the season ahead. Sounds a bit like when we last went down.....at least this season it was unavoidable due to lack of real quality where needed, unlike last time when we were mismanaged (in my opinion) into relegation.

A decent manager incoming and all will be forgotten. We've been the laughing stock so many times over the last 30 years that i frankly couldn't care less about the "earliest relegation" tag. Bring on next season. It'll all be fine in the end.....or is this the beer talking.

I just want a manager who tries to win games and has the ability to adapt his formation, selection and system to the actual game we’re playing, is that too much to ask? 
 

A side note, the standing ovation at full time is one of the weirdest things I’ve been witness to.

This is the 4th relegation I've endured since becoming a Saints fan.

The others all hurt. This one I don't really feel anything. Disappointment? Nope. Anger? Nope. Sadness? Nope. Just indifference.

Maybe it's because we've known for months. Maybe it's because I'm older. Maybe I'm just a shit fan. Who cares.

That's of course a valid opinion. My only point is that if you're talking about 'better people at the club', Id say Dyche fits that description for the most important role in the club, even if he's not the 'ideal' manager we could have (who, I for one, do not have a clue might be).

I wrote a very similar post a few months ago. It's 50 years for me and this season is the worst I can remember and there's a fairly long list to choose from. I had a reply much like the one you have had telling me the time we were nearing admin was worse but it wasn't for me. Yes, it was tough but I had a glimmer of hope that something would come along to save us, which it did. I haven't a shred of optimism left anymore. SR have managed to find 4 lousy managers on the trot and their transfer dealings leave a lot to be desired so why should I feel a sudden wave of confidence that this summer's transfer window will be any different. I'm with you on this one and I daresay we are not alone!

Yeah, agree this is the worst for me. Sheer incompetency at every level. 
 

When we went down before I felt sympathy as we had no money and it was a shit show. The players were limited but mostly tried hard. There was still a soul of a club. Now we are a husk.
 

This time is just embarrassing. A squad full of mercenaries who don’t care at all. I feel no sympathy, just anger at the pathetic shower of shit on display. Managers making mistakes that literally my sons u7’s manager wouldn’t make. Players half arsing about. 

Then on top, the game itself is gone. VAR has killed it. The club is dead too - any player that is half decent gets sold. So there is no connection to any of these chumps. Fernandes and Ramsdale are literally the only players that I am happy to pay actual money to watch. The rest are absolutely atrocious  

The gap between the leagues is insurmountable. Just all feels completely pointless. There is no light at the end of the tunnel. We will never compete with these idiots at the helm. 

All of the above means that I don’t feel like a fan, I feel like an idiot that is being fleeced for cash and getting nothing in return.

At least the championship is proper football again, I guess

The fans should have been on their backs much earlier in the game. The lack of effort was completely unacceptable, particularly in the first half. I’m surprised anyone was there at the end anyway let alone thought it was appropriate to clap them (quite unbelievable).

I left on 87 there was a pint in The Devonshire with my name on after looking into the sun all afternoon. Had a great chat about state of club with fans around me made the game bearable. Spurs were crap we were abysmal just such poor quality and no idea how to mark and get close.

The disallowed Spurs goal summed us we played it to Archer it bounced off him  that put Matty wrong side, gave away free kick that we allowed free header that went across goal for player to score unmarked . 
7 more rubbish performances to endure this season.

At least the Guinness after was perfect.

I left on 80 got a train straight back. I didnt see the disallowed goal was in the concourse. My 8 year old said to me today that the best bit about yesterday was half time. Dibling's lack of effort was shameful.

True party atmosphere stuff. In fact, I find nowadays when going to games, the football has become incidental. It's more for the day out which could explain why our games are nearly always sold out.
