Nothing short of shambolic from top down (aside from Fernandes). I have no faith that we will come straight back up. We are so much weaker than when we went down 2 years ago and don't trust the charlatans running the club to turn it around in the summer. Would be a really bad idea to come straight back up. Needs 2 seasons at least to completely rebuild and with players that can compete in the PL. I would be happy with 7th next season. 1

Can see it now. Saints set to sign striker Luigi Slowman from Lecce. Check stats 98 games and 3 goals, 1 assist... 2

It’s doesn’t work like that, you can’t build a PL team slowly in the Championship. Anyone PL quality will very quickly get poached and you’ll end up back at square one, minus the parachute payments. The goal has always got to be coming straight back up. We just need much, much, much better recruitment next time. 16
OttawaSaint Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Are championship teams ever going to be able to compete in the EPL? Forest stayed up but had to shell out on a whole new squad. Nearly didn't succeed.

Absolutely ridiculous. Peak Noddy. Went down without a fight, the first week in April. None of them want to stay, fucking disgrace and our Nods clap them. Pretty poor squad, but other poor squads like Luton, Blackpool, Sheffield Utd, fucking put up more of a fight. Going down isn’t a disgrace, going down by Easter with 10 points on the board fucking is. Fucking soft arsed bottlers, standing ovation, my fucking arse….Lets see how many of the cunts want to stay, my monies on a big fat fucking zero. One thing for sure, I won’t be clapping those wankers next Saturday….. 19

I’ve been saying for a long time - to achieve sustainable PL promotion from the Championship you need to build a team capable of competing in the PL, with the emphasis on TEAM - not a bunch of fucking misfits with 4 LB’s to every striker. 5

Mr X Posted April 6 Posted April 6 I still don't get how are recruitment was as shocking as it was?..... What did they see in players like Stewart who was already injured and BBD, jo aribo, Cameron archer... Playing Stephens or manning with bednarek... The list goes on or was it a case that they left recruitment too late and We were left with the shit noone wanted.... Seems we gambled soo much only saints would spend ten million plus on an already injured player that's made of glass 1
Scoobysaint Posted April 6 Posted April 6 (edited) No surprise really. Our two big signings were players we had on loan last season and then we could only manage fourth in the Championship. Get rid of Juric, get rid of the dead wood, get a decent manager (Rohl?) and a quality striker. That is what keeps you up. Look at Fulham with Mitrovic, Brentford with Toney, us with SRL. Stay up a season and then you can convince better players to join. Edited April 6 by Scoobysaint 4

saintant Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Complete rebuild needed but, in all honesty, who is going to take the majority of this crap off our hands? The stark reality is that we are stuck with most of them because few will attract interest from other clubs. Fernandes is the stand out but after him who has really performed for us this season? 2

Vancouver Saint Posted April 6 Posted April 6 What an embarrassing shambles of a season. Has an announcement been made about the new manager yet? SR have had plenty of time to plan ahead of our predictable relegation. Juric needs to go today with our without a replacement in mind. They need to send a signal that things change as of now. My hope is Rohl comes in asap and helps us keep the one or two players we will need to compete for a promotion place in the Championship. Also get the points we need to beat Derby's unwanted record. This season has been such a cluster-f_ck I suspect people will be referring to 'Doing a Southampton' in a disparaging way for years to come. 1
LGTL Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Can’t wait to boo the fuck out of every last one of these useless wankers next week. Any of those saps clapping them today need to have a word with themselves. 4

We saw in the first half of the home game against Spurs how bad this team is when they down tools. Apart from that 45 minutes I’ve seen very little to suggest they weren’t trying. 3-1 is basically a fair reflection of us versus the rest of this league. Against teams of comparable quality we’re P3 W1 D1 L1 GD 0. 3

That sort of a managerial profile is highly attractive to Sport Republic. 3

die Mannyschaft Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Oh well if you coach negative football yiu get negative results. Constantly passing back and across own box must have helped ship half our goals in. can't just hoof ball out or put defenders on person in box, Rush to close down. It's been down to turning players into robots with no creativity. Unless the coach instructs players to kick ball out and £1,000 fine per back pass I can't see how we are going to get 2 more draws. It's been better going forward but walking football at the back !! 2

macca155 Posted April 6 Posted April 6 I've seen my team relegated 5 times. This one is by far the worst, and totally humiliating. Four home games left and I'm really struggling to raise the enthusiasm to go. I have never felt that way before. I wonder if SR realise the damage they have done to the supporter base. They'll have a shock with next year's season ticket sales The owners have cocked it up big time. Saints were relegated in August due to their incompetence. I suggest they stay off social media and reflect on their errors. It will take them a while. First job get rid of the 'relegation' stink. That means a clear out of players and staff who can't take us forward. Having made poor managerial appointments previously, they really need to get it right this time. Rohl does not excite me one bit. Cricket season now, Hampshire won so there's that. 5
Harry_SFC Posted April 6 Posted April 6 (edited) I'm sure most fans would've turned their noses up at Corberan as well, despite him now showing what a great coach he is at Valencia. Edited April 6 by Harry_SFC 1
