gio1saints Posted Tuesday at 15:40 Posted Tuesday at 15:40 Now that AA is gone who is the designated taker? If there is one that is. I’ve got a feeling we may be due one at home v Wolves. My guess is that if TP is on the pitch it’s him. If not and Archer is on the pitch then him. If both on the pitch I’d have TP take it. Any other realistic contenders? I’d laugh if we let Rambo take it lol. Least you know it would have some welly!
lambtiss Posted Tuesday at 17:43 Posted Tuesday at 17:43 The only 2 decent strikers of a ball that I have seen this season are Cameron Archer and Tyler Dibling 1
disconnect Posted Tuesday at 18:29 Posted Tuesday at 18:29 Fernandes? However, I could see him doing an "Alcaraz" 🤣 Remember Archer did a really poor one earlier in the season which threw him off a bit, but is probably the best finisher we have. Not sure if I'd trust Onuachu personally. Not sure why, just doesnt strike me as someone who'd be good at penalties (cue someone bringing up stats of him scoring all 30 of his taken penalties or something).
Badger Posted Tuesday at 18:41 Posted Tuesday at 18:41 THB has looked up, to the task during shoot outs I thought. 3
SNSUN Posted Tuesday at 21:10 Posted Tuesday at 21:10 I'm an advocate of having a striker take penalties. Strikers should want to get as many goals as possible. Saints though, it probably all depends on whether we actually have a striker on the pitch! Just a hunch but I reckon Manning could bang one in if necessary.

Fuck me, might be the first player to miss a penalty by actually missing the ball altogether 1 2

A cursory google might have saved @CSA96 the admittedly minor discomfiture of being unaware of TP penalties’ record. It’s hard NOT to go for self deprecating humour as a Saints fan these days…anyhow I think TP over Cameron, in my eyes anyway, taking the pen on Saturday 🙏

Whitey Grandad Posted Wednesday at 09:21 Posted Wednesday at 09:21 (edited) Let’s hope we get two penalties so that they can each take one 🤗 Edited Wednesday at 16:39 by Whitey Grandad 1
disconnect Posted Wednesday at 13:26 Posted Wednesday at 13:26 I noticed that we've only had 2 penalties all season, but Liverpool have had 9. I wonder how many of those would be deemed 'soft'?

Yes he missed one at 0-0 v Man United, it turned out after he'd never taken one before. Breaton-Diaz was also on the pitch who had taken and scored loads.

Pamplemousse Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago (edited) We've had two penalties and we missed both of them Although we did win a penalty shootout at Everton so I supposed that counts Edited 23 hours ago by Pamplemousse

Instead of awarding a penalty the ref should have shown Nunez a second yellow and sent him off. I was absolutely delighted to see Nunez make a right balls up in the penalty shoot out to send the Scousers out of the Champions League. Karma!!! 4
Stripey McStripe Shirt Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Always pick your most competent player to take penalties. Ramsdale then. 1

In the 1970’s Alex Stepney took a couple of penalties for Man Utd and at one point was their joint top scorer. He was replaced on duties when they signed Jim McCalliog. McCalliog scored a penalty against us at The Dell in a 1-1 relegation scrap after Easter 1974. He signed for us the next season. Stepney played against us in 1976. No penalty shoot outs then so didn’t have to worry about him taking one.
