I have to admit I did not realise  that was the case and more to the point did not know he is called Dean Thornton. So much for a total clear out of Martins staff.

Doesn't feel like the scandal of the century to be honest. I don't remember anyone promising or guanteeing a "total clear out". He was Russell Martin not General Pinochet.

Pinochet was a well known fan of attacking football, preferring a fluid 4-3-3 formation. He was being considered as a back up to take over Newcastle, whose fans hadn't realised he'd been dead since 2006.

Arguably, a deceased Pinochet, propped up like someone out of Weekend At Bernie's, would have managed more PL points than Martin.
