Screw him. The ruddy-cheeked bastard completely unnecessarily took us into administration a few days after the cut-off date for the points deduction to apply for the next season if relegated without it (which we did of course). So as an act of spite he gifted us a postponed 10 point deduction as we went down to league 1. He tried to cover it up with a pathetic excuse that the parent company, not the club itself, went into administration, and so the club shouldn't get a points deduction. Anyone with half a brain knew that was a bollocks argument and was never going to succeed.

I was pleased to play a small part in ousting Lowe from his perch in SFC and welcomed the new regime with Crouch etc., which eventually came good with Markus’ short but effective reign. I have to say that I have some empathy with some of Lowes politics, but as always the deployment of ideas is everything…talk is cheap.

So he says his lawyer told him that all allegations against him were unfounded, to which his lawyer says "I didn't say that".

Really doesn't sound like a trustworthy character and I remember him as the person who bankrupted our club. That's probably not accurate but fuck him, he sounds a right arrogant knob.

Think it was the lawyer, a KC, acting for Reform he said told him that (which is even more surprising that they might have said it, or that he revealed them saying it.)

Although we are politically polar opposites, (me being a Lib Dem remainer), I partly get where you are coming from on this point. Lowe at least tries to engage with the Parliamentary system with some organisation, which probably stems from his experiences at the FA and better times at Saints 2000-2004. Anderson ditto. Farage and Tice are Boris talking heads, Farage is strong presentationally but very little substance and would never be across the detail properly.

Exactly there's tons of MPs , my own included who do fuck all and drift through parliament in a safe seat with very little scrutiny.  

I despise the tories and labour,  neither of which have the best interests for this country at heart,  reform offered a glimmer of political hope for a lot of disenfranchised people but unfortunately they're not a political party, all strings are pulled by Zia, party members get no say so it's destined to fail as it will now do. 

It's a shame this topic came up on here anyway,  I avoid the lounge for that reason,  much better to talk football where we can share common ground 👍🏻

reform party is a limited company owned by Farage so his rules matter not party members.

A lot of respect for this post.

Instead of rubbishing people, I do like that you can somewhat understand why people would appreciate Lowe.

Zero need for frothing-at-the-mouth and screaming “far right” which appears to be the popular method of shutting down opinions that people don’t like these days.

Nice to see that discourse can be had in a polite manner, even if you don’t agree with someone’s politics.

Even if I knew nothing about his past the bloke would have lost me when he declared that the BBC is a cancer at the heart of this country. 

I appreciate that some people do not like the BBC and there is a thread on this subject on this forum..... But come on "A cancer"???

I think he gets unfairly remembered for the actions of utter charlatan Michael Wilde. On the other hand, I never got the sense that he tried too hard to bring in new investment and getting rid of Nigel Pearson was a dreadful decision

Also, how does Guy Askham manage to stay under the radar for Saints' decline under his watch?

There were a lot of unanswered questions from that ‘reverse takeover’ in 1996. Guy gets some Saints folklore for being the one who took the contract out to Hamburg for Keegan to sign but the club went downhill under his leadership (if you can call it that), losing the sense of ambition under Lawrie which arguably it hasn’t got back since. As for appointing Ian Branfoot and then giving him a 3 year contract extension….

With the current news acoss the world the BBC is a beacon of truth . As regards Saville etc he fooled everyone except the victims . Serial abusers are still being found out but Saville was one of a kind beyond compare.

It is difficult to report on the Gaza conflict as no reporters are allowed in Gaza . A few local reporters have sent out reports when they could to the BBC . Unfortunately the BBC has been under attack for some years now by the Murdoch empire and the right wing press plus the Tories have tried to destroy it entirely by reducing their income , loading cost of the world service from the foreign office to the BBC , loading the cost of free TV licence for over 75 s onto the BBC etc .

If we end up with X , Meta , Truth ! , and other online outlets for information then we are in trouble.

That’s only for those who receive Pension Credit. Those who have been careful and have saved for their old age are ‘penalised’ .

We pay the licence fee for what should be impartial coverage, and we don't get it.

This particular incident, along with their refusal to refer to Hamas as a terrorist organisation (as proscribed in the UK), does raise questions.....

I've always been a big fan of the BBC, and still like a lot of the stuff they do but it's still being questionably run.

If you want balanced news you need other news outlets.

It was payed for out of the social security budget but the BBC were forced to take on this huge bill at the same time as the licence fee was frozen . As we have seen this govt has applied the same rules to winter fuel payments !

I think we do get a fairly balanced view from the BBC . There is much totally untrue stuff put out there by Putin etc so it is a beacon of truth in my opinion.

There are other sources such as CH4 , even Sky News that do a good job but youngsters tend to get all their news from social media,  which is a worry going forward , says this 70 yr old 😄

Anyway, you can actually name a more balanced news outlet if you like.
