After feeling totally depressed after the Total Saints Podcast tonight, I found this you tube of all saints goals from the championship season:

Take aways;

-At time our football going forward was awesome.

- Yes it obviously omits some of our defensive frailties that season that we always remember

- forgot the impact Sulemana (less) and Ediozie had

- we are going to have a lot of those players next year - that feels a positive

- as an attacking midfielder in  3, Smallbone is good.

- Brooks loan was really important

- We miss a player like Adams. Focal point striker - in the summer needs to  be our major target.

-Adam Armstrongs finishing. That goal against West Brom in the semi he had literally half a second to drill it in the corner. Is it so much different in the PL? Maybe it’s a mind set thing?

Anyway, hope you enjoy. I had a blast watching that and made me feel  lot better about next season.

It does you good to look back and enjoy some of the good times and we have had them. In the days of video recorders, I had an MLT best goals video and would watch that from time to time. A lot of our team are Championship level, at best, so those who stay should hopefully be able to hit the ground running next season. My concern is that if we won promotion then we will be back to square one. I want SR to have a long, hard look at themselves and the woeful decisions they have made with both managerial appointments and buying players, resulting in the depressing and embarrassing season we have had to endure. I don't want them sitting back, if the team are doing well in the Championship, thinking what a great job they have done and doing more of the same. That will condemn Saints to Championship football for the foreseeable or, at best, yo-yoing between the Premier League and the Championship. You want us to feel a lot better about next season and hopefully we will but SR have a major part to play in keeping our spirits up by bringing in experienced and capable managers and strengthening and improving the team with the players we need if we are ever to enjoy being a fixture of Premier League football again.

It's true that last year was a great season for you, with a well-deserved return to the Premier League, even if you had a bit of a scare going into the play-offs.

I enjoyed watching your team, which was always dangerous and scored a lot, with players who also enjoyed themselves on the pitch.

It was a determined team with one objective: to win as much as possible.

I'd like to see that kind of spirit again next season and I wish you all the best.

100% it is a mindset thing. I do remember being quite frustrated last season though when we drew games we should have won. It's why I worry if we do consider giving Juric some of next season- he doesn't have the correct mentality for the Championship in my opinion.

Wonder if the senior player is Harry Winks?

Nope, Vestergaard! Seems he is a less then stabilising influence.

It will all depend on recruitment,  get that right , especially some good loan signings, and it could be an enjoyable season.

Well we're fuck*d then. 😁

But seriously last Champ season our loan signings were mostly decent (Downes, THB, Brooks, Fraser, Holga... oh wait) but our full time signings made little impact (Stewart, Charles, Manning) - the people making the decisions on transfers need to be better. It's OK picking some decent fringe players off Prem clubs, but we need to build a foundation for getting back to the Prem longer term - if we ever do.

Is there an issue commuting from London though? I remember Jonas Olsson and Cisse living in London and driving to Birmingham every day when they played for West Brom.

Enjoyed watching the all goals video, but it’s clear there were some significant differences in team and playing performance. Aribo playing further forward, Stu Armstrong, Adams and Armstrong excellent at that level, players moving into positions that allowed unchallenged passes, etc etc.- so many differences to this season. Also, by contrast, there were many games where we found ourselves chasing games…sometimes pulling off last gasp wins or draws…there were too many flawed performances that got in the way of any sustained push for the autos. In hindsight it seems inevitable that we would suffer significantly in the Prem without spending big and upgrading the also-ran players.

Although he should be stabilising as he doesn’t move. Can’t believe Saints got their foolish money back on him!

That’s a fairly straight run up the M40 pretty much though. Leicester is a bit more fiddly and takes more time. Depends what part of London Jannik lives in as well. Would assume NW London.
