Huffton Posted Wednesday at 11:07 Posted Wednesday at 11:07 Out of a job. Couldn't actually do any worse, and would at least put round pegs in round holes, and galvanize the supporter Base a bit. Come on SR, make it happen! 2 3 1

Nige had his time in the sun and I wouldn't want him back to tarnish any of that. Plus his recent record hasn't been great at all... 6
Lighthouse Posted Wednesday at 11:46 Posted Wednesday at 11:46 Nigel had a fantastic 2.5 years here but that time has passed and I wouldn’t go back. Put it this way, if he hadn’t managed us 12 years ago and his CV dropped on your desk this morning, would you hire him based on what he’s done since? 8
Suhari Posted Wednesday at 12:46 Posted Wednesday at 12:46 (edited) He did a great job for us, without a doubt. I am a little surprised he never kicked on afterwards. When he joined us I knew a couple of Scunthorpe fans who were absolutely convinced he would go on to manage England. Always wondered why he didn't kick on after leaving Saints.......had he made enought ££ so was less motivated? Was his time with us a unique case of 'right time, right place, great squad and club'? (i.e. was he in reality, not all that?) Edited Wednesday at 12:46 by Suhari
CSA96 Posted Wednesday at 13:00 Posted Wednesday at 13:00 Why would you want to do that to Nigel? He was great for us, he has a great legacy and will always be welcomed back warmly. His career has also fallen off since. However, I wouldn't want to taint him with being associated with this season's shitshow 2
ant Posted Wednesday at 13:23 Posted Wednesday at 13:23 Sacked by Tranmere after accruing just 3 points from their last 10 matches? Actually, yeah - he sounds right up our street to be fair. 2 1
Jeremy Corbyn Posted Wednesday at 13:25 Posted Wednesday at 13:25 Strachan and Hoddle are both free and have better records in the prem
Jeremy Corbyn Posted Wednesday at 13:27 Posted Wednesday at 13:27 When he was here before he was perfect as we had a ridiculous squad for outside the prem so his "simple tactics and positive vibes" style was ideal. He's a fairly limited manager which is why his record is so patchy, more down to the luck of the situation. 1

sambosa75 Posted Wednesday at 15:00 Posted Wednesday at 15:00 He made some terrible choices following his stint as Saints which massively stagnated his career. If he has waited a little longer and chose a better club than Reading at the time, who knows what was possible. A fantastic servant to the club in his time here and a thoroughly nice bloke but lets be honest, he benefitted hugely from the resources available to him at the time and the fact we were a big fish in a small, League One shaped pond with a project that saw players like Fonte happy to drop a division to join. Not to mention resources already at the club like Lallana and Schneiderlin. Sometimes best to leave things in the past though and cling on to the happy memories of them than ruin them with almost certain failure this time by bringing him back. 3
Turkish Posted Wednesday at 15:49 Posted Wednesday at 15:49 I remember the days when people on here claimed he was the next great English manager, were certain he would be England manager one day and were worried Liverpool would come in for him whilst others claimed he was going to be our Alex Ferguson 😂😂😂 1

Lord Duckhunter Posted Wednesday at 16:29 Posted Wednesday at 16:29 Like Ranieri at Leicester, and even Bally with us, he was right man, right management style at the right time, with those particular group of players. Give him hard nose seasoned pros or the twats we’ve got now, and his positive pony won’t work…He’d be chewed up and spat out by premier league players in 2025… 1
S-Clarke Posted Wednesday at 17:12 Posted Wednesday at 17:12 (edited) This just romance, there would be no benefit to anyone by having Nigel back. I wouldn't want his reputation here to be tarnished by the horrendous group of ''footballers' we currently have. It's light a day to the team he was able to pick back in the day. bpsaint Posted Wednesday at 17:42 Posted Wednesday at 17:42 I don’t want his legacy here ruined by being associated with this crop of cunts. Some of my favourite memories in recent times were watching his side, and the journey we went on. I’d rather leave that intact. 5

Saint Fan CaM Posted Wednesday at 19:08 Posted Wednesday at 19:08 Not sure he’s the right man for the Managers job, but as an Assistant he’d be brilliant at the man-management task of repairing the fractured mentality of whoever was left in the sqaud for this seasons shitshow and acting as player/manager go between. His positivity around St.Marys would be a blessing. 3
