The middle clubs seem to be catching up with the traditional Champions League sides which makes the gap between sides like us even bigger. Or could just be us that are shit and making it look worse. PSR/FFP. Ipswich haven’t had that issue yet having come up two divisions and hence more headroom than Saints or Leicester had to invest last summer. Made some good signings - Delap especially - but some that haven’t worked in midfield and central defence which isn’t surprising over so many transactions. Hopefully Saints can finally sign some of the spine this time that might make the transition in future as well as some players purely to go up. Hoping Charles and Edwards mature into two players who can make it.

Leicester, Ipswich at home and Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool away come to mind. Any others? https://www.football365.com/premier-league/table/points-lost-from-winning-positions Just found this.

I will always maintain that being a goal or two ahead in a game is in no way a “winning position”. Why do we have to suffer these Americanisms in our beautiful game?

The game isnt won by all means, but you've been in a winning position and then lost that lead. Edited March 10 by St Louis 1

SaintsBarry74 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 (edited) As long as we don't beat Derby's record it can't get any worse than it already is - unless if we somehow bank another 0-9. Edited March 10 by SaintsBarry74
Sunglasses Ron Posted March 15 Posted March 15 So what’s worse, losing 0-9 at home, or losing 9 in a row (and counting) at home? Guess it’s like choosing between being kicked in the nuts or kicked in the head? 1
die Mannyschaft Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Only team to play entire season without buying or playing a striker. There must be 1m people playing football in England who are forwards who get 10 goals or more. Another 1m academy players. Apparently Saints are also the highest players of the ball to create a shot.

Galway saint Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Lowest scoring topscorer in a season could be on Aribo currently on 3 Looks like Jordan Mutch with 7 for Cardiff currently holds the record 1 1

We’ll be lucky to score 4 more goals, let alone Aribo getting them all. Especially from CB 🤦♂️ 1 1

SaintsBarry74 Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Two 9-0's to our name Most heavy defeats (5 goals or more against) in Premier League history Record Winless Streak (22-game winless run in the Premier League, spanning from March 12, 2023, to November 2, 2024.) Most consequetive home defeats (9 and still counting) Most home defeats in a season (Currently on 12, need 2 more to tie with Watford's record) Lowest goal tally for a top scorer (not confirmed yet, but likely) Lowest points tally, currently 9 (11 pts Derby 2007) We're firmly established in the Premier League Hall of Shame, but beating Derby would make us the reigning royalty of catastrophic failure. Any other fanbase and St Mary’s would’ve been reduced to ashes by now.

Also the West Ham anger towards the directors box that resulted in Gold and Sullivan being escorted out by bodyguards. (they were mid table at the time) 3

We can still beat it of course but given Tall Paul's effort yesterday I think we may end up with tying the record at best. 😀😀😀😀
Doctoroncall Posted March 16 Posted March 16 Leicester beat us to becoming the first Premier League team to lose seven home matches in a row without scoring.
Green Posted March 17 Posted March 17 From the Times today, another couple of records: By winning on Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Monday in 1977 Southampton gained as many points over four days (assuming three points for a win) as over this entire season so far. Four years ago Sheffield United became the first to go through a top-flight season without ever staying unbeaten over two successive games - if they won or drew then they always lost their next match. Now Southampton could beat that: every win or draw of theirs this season has been followed by at least two defeats.
ApprenticeBillionaire Posted March 17 Posted March 17 I don't care about any record except not beating Derby's. That will NEVER die.
