The Jam drummer has died after a short illness

Although I was only a toddler when they were in their pomp my brother was a big fan and they became and still are one of my favourite bands.

Sad loss to the music world

Hitting the age where so many childhood heroes are passing. The Jam such a great band. Was at a friend’s funeral this week where his coffin was carried out to a Jam tune

Going underground?

RIP Rick, part of a fantastic band and a great legacy to leave behind.

I do admire Weller's integrity for always refusing to reform The Jam, but I can't help wondering whether it might have been a nice gesture for the other two, just to have done a one-off, short UK arena tour at some point.

Good guess although could’ve been Funeral Pyre

RIP Rick, such an integral part of The Jam, and vital for the sound of the band.

Was a big fan back in the day but never got to see them as I was 14 in 1982 when they split. Always hoped Weller would change his mind, but alas, I I'll never get to see them.

Tubestation is my go to karaoke song, and I've already planned for Funeral Pyre when my time comes.

Useless fact.

if you take the train from Southampton to Waterloo, after you pass through Woking station, the first road on the left is Stanley Road.

This is where Paul Weller grew up and the title of one of his albums.
