Saints v Bournemouth - Saturday 3pm

I know, I don’t want to either.

The reverse fixture was when Martin should have been sacked, that first half particularly was still one of the worst I’ve ever seen.

I am struggling to find any hope for this game. Bournemouth are everything I would love Saints to be. They have European football to play for and they won't be letting us stand in their way. 0-3.

Personally I'd play a formation with two up top, then play an out-of-position winger and an out-of-position midfielder in the two striking positions, with five actual centre-forwards on the bench, and then when that doesn't work I'd put them all on at once and then say after the game that I did that because we needed goals.

Just like we did last time.

That game down there was an absolute shocker (in a sea of countless other shockers this season) and how RM survived that is anyone's guess. By not acting when it was glaringly obvious has led to the shitshow we've all endured in what is possibly the worst season I've ever known in the, well over, half a century that I've been going.

The Ticket Exchange is open, currently around 350 seats up for grabs, and will be interesting to see if that grows if ST holders continue to chuck their seats back in. I don't think I've ever been concerned about facing fookin Bournemouth until this season. What a mess.

When fans are so, so negative about their team after a poor run of form, it's surprising how often the game turns out to be decent and they get a result.

On this occasion though? No chance. We're just not at the level to compete with teams like Bournemouth anymore, it's not poor form it's just a poor team. The fact that Bournemouth are now levels above us should send SR's heads spinning, as they've let this happen.

Those of us old enough to remember.....Saints fans putting their hands in their pockets and putting money in buckets, to help try and save Bournemouth when they were on the skids and looked like they were going out of business. Okay, Saints fans, it's PAYBACK time!  .......anyone got a spare bucket they don't need?

A well managed and run club with a great recruiting team and know that the way to do well in this league is to create a team with strength, power and speed.. against a club run by a complete bunch of incompetent 🔔 ends.. only ends in a battering 4-0 win to Bournemouth with the fans fury finally being directed to the muppets in the directors box.

They should be hanging their heads in shame. Twenty odd years ago if someone had said to me Bournemouth would be light years ahead of us both on the pitch and off it, I would have pissed myself laughing.

They’re everything we should want to be as a side, they’ll pull us to pieces.

That’s what eight years of dreadful ownership, three managers (Pellegrino, Jones and Martin) worse than Ian Branfoot, pathetic scouting and laziness does to an established mid-table PL club. It’s a wonder the damage is even worse tbh, if we’d lost the Swansea game in 2018 we could well be playing Bromley and Morecambe by now, if we existed at all.

Bournemouth are like watching us under Pochettino, perhaps not quite Koeman level. Eg strong, quick, pressing and counter attacking side who can cause the very best in the PL problems. If we get away with 1-4 we’re fortunate!

On a different level, that’s where this summer’s recruitment needs to go 100% - quick, strong athletic units. We can add a couple of more creative midfielders near the end of the window but no more weaklings, midgets or Man City academy cast offs for the foreseeable. If they don’t look scary, don’t sign them.

Good to know, thanks.

All the directors/management should be there to suffer their consequences.

If that doesn't work Whitey, we can always put the buckets over our heads and then we won't have to watch.

1 - 4, Or worse,if  Bournemouth start the way the did away to Newcastle a few weeks ago the game  will be over within 20 minutes. They have far better players and manager than us. It really sticks in the throat to say that.

THE New Forest derby, what an odd game this is, playing a traditional local minnow who get to have their big day out singing about scummers ,  desperately hoping for a reciprocal rivalry they so badly crave. Even beating us comfortably won't get that though, most Saints fans seem pleased for them and hope they enjoy their moment in the sun.

Score 1-4

Nail hit firmly on the head and all the things that are mainly lacking in our squad of small, slow weaklings.

I’ve been up their new training facility today. I can’t compare it to ours as I’ve never been, but it’s incredibly impressive. Shows they’re serious about investing for the future and taking a different route than some other small clubs who found themselves in the premier league.

As another poster has said on here, when Bournemouth games used to get announced over the tannoy at The Dell, there was always a decent reaction when Bournemouth won.
Our supporters also put their hands in their pockets when Bournemouth went through a funding crisis, so there was a degree of fondness to the team playing at Dean Court and we had no problems buying/selling/loaning players to each other.
In some respects, I can perhaps understand that some Bournemouth fans might feel some dislike towards the Saints as quite a few Saints fans used to come up to The Dell and then SMS to watch higher grade football.
What Bournemouth have achieved in more recent years is very impressive and a game against their current side with our best team from the Pochettino or Koeman eras would have been a cracker.
A repeat of the first half at Dean Court could well result in a massacre and with the usual outcome in recent times of the final whistle heralding yet another home spanking with the away supporters in full voice, whilst those of us still in the ground trudging out thinking 'why on earth do we submit ourselves to this ritual humiliation'

The prick (Rasmus) has a face like a smacked arse and that was even before the game started. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’d been informed that Spores now controls recruitment for SR and that he now has the everyday management of Goztepe in the main.

That’s Foley’s influence (and investment). Very different to their previous PL spell and a certain East Hants club’s spell.

Even if we had sacked RM after the away fixture I'm not sure we would have survived, the players are so poor. Juric seems unsure how to get the best out of what little talent there is but I'm happier he's in charge. Never in a million years did I think I'd be watching a Saints team play half a season knowing we are down. Terrible indictment of SR and their mis management of our special club .

TBH Gloucester, I'd make him stand in the centre circle with a microphone in his hand and apologise to all Saints fans.

They’ve recently revealed plans to increase capacity at their ground, apparently they can’t go higher so they’re looking at digging down.

Was amusing to read how some of their fans were saying they could ground share with “the scummers” (that’s so quaint) while work is carried out. Hopefully we’d just tell ‘em to fuck off, 10k of their fans rattling around in St Mary’s will look ridiculous.

They be better off sharing with someone closer like Poole Town, Dorchester or Salisbury. Far more suitable capacity while they’re on-the-road.

He’s a political worm like Les Reed was. Remember Reed at a fans forum shamelessly saying Guido Carrillo would return from loan and be a great asset in the PL to howls of laughter from the audience and the other panel members avoiding rolling their eyes. They genuinely believe they are Teflon and I’d bet he’s giving it large around the SR boardroom about Goztepe’s league position and how it’s all his great work. We’ve read enough about his role at Brentford but their fans burst that bubble in more ways than one when they visited recently.

Ground shared with Dorchester when they redid it last time. Lovely for a Southern League ground but only holds 6k. Pompey need the rental income though…can’t be Exeter as not enough seats and Plymouth too far.

The annoying/sad thing is that, due to SR's hesitancy and ineptitude, we'll never know what might've happened had they acted decisively :(

I mentioned this to a Bournemouth fan recently who tried to claim it never happened, obviously wasn't going to games in that era then! Some of their crowds were tiny.

He's been told he's starting full time in the ticket office from next Monday.

ooh I have some insider knowledge here 😁 When they originally submitted the applications for this (they were put on hold when they got relegated then they resubmitted them on going back up), the Planning Officer dealing with the application had to go to Staplewood to take a look around as their layout and facilities were basically a carbon copy of ours.

You must be a pretty awful football follower if you did not realise the squad was pants last August

We have never had a squad in the top flight with no stand out players but perhaps I am wrong

Yep I remember it well, I also know a couple of Bournemouth fans who claim to support them + another club (West Ham and Man Utd) , they say that used to be common 20 years ago when they were 4th tier it was acceptable to have a Premier league club as well, really shows how far they have come!

Staplewood is also very impressive by the way, facilities excellent, the main complaint is location as most of our players seem to live up Winchester area now

3-1 Saints. Bournemouth complacent and everything goes in our favour for the first time this season.

You never know, maybe Bournemouth will have an outbreak of food poisoning and rule out the whole first team.

Already helped that David Brooks can't play as he's cup tied

No need for food poising, this is the game where heavy metal football clicks and we look like Real Madrid did last night against Citeh

I wouldn't put him in charge of the the burger/chip van opposite St Mary's. He's somehow manage to fuck that up. "I ordered a burger.....and this is a sausage"

0-3 Bournemouth by the way.

If only the entitled little wankers knew the location before buying their mansion eh 😀

This is always a weird game isn’t it, even when we were half decent. Bournemouth, I just can’t get my head around it. Fair play to them, I work down there and they’re loveable scamps, pretend to hate us yet you know deep down it’s entirely superficial.

0-4.
