Saint_clark Posted Tuesday at 23:55 Posted Tuesday at 23:55 Looks decent. Hopefully we give him a decent chance and don't just give him 15 minutes here and there, then write him off when he isn't instantly a world beater in a much harder league. 1
Saint Fan CaM Posted Wednesday at 00:40 Posted Wednesday at 00:40 I’m hoping he’s been targeted for the Chumpionship and we’ve got him early to try him out in the new look side Juric is building. At that price that would make sense - otherwise it’s another daft SR experiment trying to match EPL quality on the cheap, albeit low risk. 1
St. Ciervo Posted Wednesday at 05:40 Posted Wednesday at 05:40 From 2 minutes of watching youtube highlights, I really like his desire to move forward and attack the defender. Based on only that, it is worth a shot. We don't have much of that currently. 4
Convict Colony Posted Wednesday at 08:00 Posted Wednesday at 08:00 He at least sounds like he fits this system, likes pressing and attacking/assisting. “I’m a dynamic player, a No 8 or No 10, on the wing as well, likes to have the ball. I think they [the fans] will see a dynamic player who likes to press, run, do good for the team & hopefully get involved in goals & assists. 1

Killers Knee Posted Wednesday at 08:48 Posted Wednesday at 08:48 Can he play up front? Can he score goals? Next.

No place for actual research in this forum amigo, next you'll be doing research of where and how he played at Bodo and how we could fit into our system. On a separate note does anyone know if he is fit enough (recent game time etc) or can we expect him off the bench for the next few week. 1
Ken Tone Posted Wednesday at 10:13 Posted Wednesday at 10:13 He sounds to be more competition fot Fernandes (1 of our best players) than a defensive midfielder or a striker -- the positions where we need competition IMO. Still, maybe it's beggars can't be choosers with our league position. 😒

I'd be happy for him to fill in for either of those. 5

Saint Mikey Posted Wednesday at 11:33 Posted Wednesday at 11:33 Looks like he has good feet and a decent strike. Whether he can be as effective against Prem level defenders, I guess we'll find out soon enough.
Convict Colony Posted Wednesday at 11:51 Posted Wednesday at 11:51 (edited) Scouting report from his last season in Bodo. https://franciscomaldonado.substack.com/p/albert-grnbk-scout-report "Gronbaek has the tools to become an elite-level creator in European football." He did score 19 goals in 55 games for Bodo/Glimt is a good return for a winger. 2 in 16 for Rennes (not many starts for them), so he does seem to know where the net is. As always, can he do it against better oponenrts with less time etc.. 1

And equally, can he really play every minute of every game between now and May? Getting the lad in now and seeing if he's a good fit for next season isn't bad. And like it or not, we do struggle when Fernandes comes off, so adding extra depth to the midfield will help (assuming he's good enough). 1

Elite level creator? Sounds like we've signed god and maybe that means a miracle will happen. Personally though knowing sport republic i'm expecting it to turn out we signed the wrong one and a green toad in a suit will stroll on the pitch in the first game declaring his hatred of Danger Mouse 1 2

"goals and assists" If he's not going to do even the most basic research into the club he's joining... 🙂 1

St. Ciervo Posted yesterday at 04:50 Posted yesterday at 04:50 I yearn for the days that Ely was our worst player ❤️ 4 1
Toussaint Posted yesterday at 07:44 Posted yesterday at 07:44 22 hours ago, Killers Knee said: Can he play up front? Can he score goals? Next. Hopefully a decent midfielder will chip in with a few goals, but in my opinion improving the midfield will improve the defence and attack. Our woefully weak midfield lets the whole team down and has been the route of our problems. 2
suewhistle Posted yesterday at 09:23 Posted yesterday at 09:23 I know Youtube videos can be deceptive but he does appear to have a greater degree of pace and athleticism than Smallbone or Aribo, although the latter has been showing more of his strength recently. How would he be best used with Fernandez whilst we have them both? Their mobility does give hope that they won't get in each other's way and will feed off each other. Better than Ely (see above!) who looked like he was running in treacle. I suspect he might be on the bench on Saturday but wont necessarily get on.

For me it implies an attacking midfield player, but not sure of the distinction, if at all. Edited yesterday at 09:44 by Badger

Thats where he mostly played for Glimt, either side of the six.

In real old money a no.8 was an inside left and a no.10 an inside right , or vice versa Nothing new under the sun. 😉

St Louis Posted yesterday at 14:55 Posted yesterday at 14:55 (edited) Am I reading too much into this, or is Juric basically saying he's not likely to be here next season when we inevitably get relegated? From today's presser... "He comes on loan, he's a good option for us for these few months. He was very good for Bodo and for the national team. He's trained with us today, I think he'll be more of an option for the next game [than Newcastle]." Edited yesterday at 15:16 by St Louis

Not sure that is conclusive, but the fact is, its a loan until the end of the season, after that nothing is set in stone. 1
