Saint NL Posted January 19 Posted January 19 It's a marked improvement that we've still been in the last two games going into the 90th minute. 4

SaintsBarry74 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 How many points did Derby have at this stage? We already got two fucking 9-0's hanging over our heads, and God knows how many more high scoring games where we've been on the receiving end, question for everyone: How much more embarrassment can you possibly take? For me, beating Derby's record would be the last straw - there's got to be a limit. 3 1

A few perhaps, especially for players they want to watch closely after returns from injury or long spells without regular first team matches.
Dirkdiggler Posted January 19 Posted January 19 would be nice to see ABK get some games now even if to get him in the shop window. Can’t be any worse than Bednarek or THB 7 1

Aribo, Fernandes and Les seem to be more aligned with what Juric is after. I get the impression Juric may be giving up on Downes. Bringing back Charles and signing a nobody midfielder suggests to me that Downes may be watching a lot of future games.
Convict Colony Posted January 19 Posted January 19 With sully he was doing a hell of a lot of sprints from half way line v man u, he may not of covered the most distance but the intensity was pretty damn high. 2
Teamsaint1 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Not going to make excuses, but can you imagine one of the top 4 being given only 2 clear days between games when the opposition had four. Unacceptable IMO. 10
SNSUN Posted January 19 Posted January 19 The players are there to get another win this season, it's just finding the right combination. Fatigue aside, that starting line up was not it. Shame Dibling is out for a while. Things really aren't going our way.

Pamplemousse Posted January 19 Posted January 19 The first half... not really a lot to say that hasn't been said already. We've seen the same performance a few times this season, soft goals conceded, no fight, utterly pathetic. I was fearing another Brentford, or worse, so I did not see the second half coming at all. The limbs if we'd have equalised would've been insane. Ultimately it comes down to the defence. Last 3 games we've conceded at least 3 goals and we've got no chance of winning anything if we keep on doing that.

We haven't done it a lot recently, with Les, Aribo and Fernandes always looking to be on the half turn, but whenever we do, we look terrible. Downes was infuriating in the first half, kept playing backwards like he was on autopilot when there were better options. He was a fraud of a footballer in that first half. He didn’t fancy it and looked to me like he was trying to get himself sent off or force the manager to sub him. Throwing yourself around, and making challenges like his on Gibbs-White does not show heart. To me, it shows the opposite. 3

Two men behind us were discussing football and said Notts Forest could go 2nd if they won 13-0 and as they were playing Southampton there was every chance. I don't mind a bit of stick but it's bloody relentless now. 1 1

Mr Brightside Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Ok, first half, despite starting brightly was awful. Only we can be 3 nil down and the oppo’s xg is about 0.3! Much better 2nd half with some actual goal threat and passion. Not saying much I know, but best game I’ve been to since Wembley. Decent atmosphere and nice to have something to cheer about for a change, even if in the end it’s another loss. Actually looking forward to the next one.

Forester Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Firstly great credit to all Saints fans today, really got behind the team second half after booing them off (deservedly) at half time. As others have said, I believe we have a good manager who is quickly learning about our deficiencies and is highly capable if given the right tools. Regardless of points haul I have seen enough from him that he is comfortably better than our last three managers. At the ground it was noticeable that both THB and Ramsdale got really stuck into Downes after the dreadful lack of effort, and I wonder what was said at halftime. Standing off players, failing to get tackles in, first half was terrible but great credit to Jurić for turning that around and we so easily could have nicked a point. As I said after Thursday it’s hard to change a style so dramatically mid season with low quality players. I really feel we need to wrap in cotton wool a number of players who are clearly not good enough at this level but will be crucial next season in championship. Archer, Armstrong, Smallbone, Downes and Sugawara in my opinion all need taking out of the firing line or their confidence is going to be shot to pieces. Stick to a core 13-14 players for rest of season, injuries permitting, of Rambo, KWP, Manning, Bree, Wood, THB, Bednarek, Les, Aribo, Charles, Fernandes, Dibbling, Tall Paul, Kamaldeen. 5
