If you told me at the start of the season we’d be going into this pair of fixtures with United 15th and Forest 3rd, I’d have had a radon survey done on your house. It goes without saying they’re in scarily good form, 7 wins and a draw against Liverpool since the start of December, so Saints law dictates this is the game we go and win.

If Utd can beat us 3-1, Forest on their current form can beat us 6-0. I have zero confidence of another point this season despite some ‘plucky’ performances.

I know a few Forest fans and yes as Lighthouse says there is a bit of "Typical us, we'll go and lose to you lot" going on (all football fans are the same).

But it's difficult to see that from our perspective. Even when we we turn up and at our absolute best (like last night) we're just not good enough in this division. And Forest are immense right now.

I'm hoping for a battling 2-2.

2-1 to Saints. Forest won't be ready for what's about to hit them. They'll be forced to lower their game to meet us.

Ramsdale, KWP, Bree, Bednarek, THB, Manning, Ugochukwu, Aribo, Fernandes, Sulemena, Dibling (Archer)

Please for the love of god get KWP back on the right. He looks so awkward defending from the wrong side. Also I guarantee he will play Armstrong if Dibling is injured.

Agree with you. Sugawara wasn't great last night anyway. Neither armstrong or Archer are similar to Dibling in any way. It really depends what Juric wants them to do.

No way Forest leave the space United did behind their defence so will be a completely different game to yesterday. Will be two teams desperately trying to draw the other up the field.

The Forest fan I know has been unbearable recently, would love to bring them back down to earth

Get that Mickey Evans back in the side , he'll take his chances

We have a 25% win rate at the their ground 10/41. They're also on fire in the league...

https://www.transfermarkt.com/southampton-fc/bilanzdetail/verein/180/plus/0?gegner_id=703&saison_id=&wettbewerb_id=&day=&heim_gast=gast&punkte=&datum_von=&datum_bis=

Chris Wood also had a 50% win rate vs us in the Premier league, with a 25% scoring rate 3 goals in 12 games).

Hard to be optimistic. Who knows, maybe we'll scrap a draw to make up for the 3 points we threw away last night 😂

They have the not only the benefit of being a very good inform team but they also have the extra benefit of 2 extra rest days. We were dead on our feet yesterday after 70 minutes. Forest will murder us!

This had easily got a 5 or 6-0 written all over it, and I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if one of those came via JWP.

Posted

Lots of talk about JWP scoring etc, but he hardly plays for them. Unused sub most of the time.

He's played about 20 mins of PL football since Nov.

Again, performance is more important than the result. More of what we saw yesterday and I'll be happy. Compete well and a loss will be ok because the only goal we are chasing is beating Derby's points and few expect anything against a resurgent Forest.

Forest are excellent this season, and have a potent mix of pace and power all over the park.

we will huff and puff but get done fairly comfortably

Can you change the thread title to Notts Forest to use their proper name

My brother in law supports them. I always refer to them as Notts Forest. He loves it, although right now, nothing can take the bloody smile off his face.

Despite the success of our press and incisive attacks, I suggest we park the bus, give Elanga and Odoi no space behind and try to bore them to death, like we did Fulham.

No such team as Notts Forest - they are Nottingham Forest. However there is a Notts County.

I'm hoping Notts Forest will throw this game and let us win so we don't take Derby's worst points total title from them.

That is literally the only hope I have, because if they don't do this we're not winning it by any stretch.

Still i guess the upside is that Nottingham some absolutely brilliant pubs to head back when the third goes in, and I assume the bingo buses will have a pit stop at Hooters.

Back in the days when I lived in the UK. I was there! Great memories!

If there is one team who has a vested interest in Derby not losing that unwanted record, it is Forest

They won't win the league and have enough of a cushion for the top 4, so they can afford to lose this game and I reckon they'll give us a massive helping hand.

Thats a great shout, Notts Forest fans love to remind Derby about that record points season, big incentive for them, we're heading up early, Plan is to get into Hooters for some bantz,  charm a few ladies in hot pants,

Well that brightened the day. Thanks.

Looking at the seasons form table and Forest get much more of their points away from home. Pretty good home record also but not the best. If we turn up strong, keep it very tight and take any chances that come our way, we can get a draw. Trouble is, can we do any of that?

Nottm Forest 10 5 3 2 12 8 +4

I’m pretty confident Forest players and management couldn’t give 2 shiny shits about that tbh.

Upset weekend. Saints win. 2-0, Dibling and Sulemana trip them apart, but bugger if I'm putting any money on it.

Notts Forest call them that if your going up there.

Forest 0-1 Saints 15 mins

Forest 1-1 Saints HT

Forest 4-1 Saints,  after we make subs.

It's very difficult for Saints to keep goals out as they keep reverting to passing to opponents assisting in a goal. Think we now have 17 assists for opposition

Ok some fun facts: Peter Shilton, Justin Fashanu, Franny Benali, Billy Sharp, Danny Fox, David Prutton, Dexter Blackstock and Nigel Quashie all played for Saints and Forest. And of course the only penalty MLT missed was v Forest and Mark Crossley in 1993

What a difference 5 months or so make.

back in August many thought that Forest would struggle with us and they were seen as a potential to get some points from.

loss number 18 coming.

you are missing the `best' one, or at least the one that annoys my brother in law Forest fan, David McGoldrich, whose £1.2m fee helped us afford Sir Rickie.
